Occupy Wall St

Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue

I believe that everyone has the capacity to leave something good in my life. This applies even (and most interestingly) to those who have had, in general, a bad effect on my life--or who have left my life because we had an irreconcilable conflict.

"It Was Eight Years Ago Today, Occupy Taught Us How To Think"

Greetings C99 family. Haven’t been around in a while, but that’s too long to get into now.

This is gonna be quick, but the date kind of commands something is published. Not much for anniversaries myself but as I sat for breakfast with the little ones this morning WBAI had a segment on in which they were talking to people about OWS. Sept 17th, why of course! (I can hardly keep track of what day of the week it is anymore, let alone the date).

My Landlord Has Raised My Rent 18% In Two Years - Just Because He Can. Here's My Letter To Him.

I've been in a bit of a funk lately, not the least of which is due to this grotesque rapaciousness. Family ties and obligations are also bogging me down. My father has completely fallen victim to the predatory Fox News RW propaganda machine and my life is completely consumed by two scampering babies demanding attention in many different ways during the 60 hours a week I have them by myself.

Charlie Chaplin's "The Great Dictator" Speech, With Accompanying Video That Reflects the Essence of Occupy and C99.

Just finished watching the PBS film "The Last Laugh," and was piqued to watch the Chaplin film in its entirety for the first time tonight. The reason I'm aware of the speech is because it went viral during Occupy and it moved me deeply. I see it again as being pretty much a perfect video for these times, and for the C99 family to relish and take inspiration from.

Rants, Muses, Books & Music (and Some Cooking Too).

It's good to see you. Come on in, leave your shoes in the hallway, we've got fire on the stove preparing lunch for later. In the meantime, browse the bookshelves and plunk down on the sofa with one, or pick out some tunes from the music library or come in to the kitchen to help with the cooking. Our special blend of tea is steeping and will be right up.
