The sheriff of Wake County, N.C. is reconsidering the dedicated assignment of his police officers to protect school children and teachers, as a result of a standoff with school administrators, who he accuses of not adequately defining the district’s policy on transgender children.

Marilyn Morrison started the school year at Cannon Elementary School in Grapevine, TX as a girl for the first time. The third-grader will apparently not be finishing the school year there.

The constant bullying has become just too much.

It makes me feel like I'm my old self when I was a boy.

Judge Algenon Marbley is a US District Judge for the Southern District of Ohio who was appointed to the position by Bill Clinton in 1997.

On Monday Judge Marbley rejected the Highland Local Schools case challenging the DoE rule on treatment of transgender students, ordering a transgender girl to be treated "like the girl she is."

US District Judge Pamela Pepper on Monday rejected a motion by the Kenosha Unified School District to dismiss the case brought by Ashton Whitaker accusing the district of discriminating against him. On Tuesday Pepper issued a temporary restraining order barring the district from enforcing its policy prohibiting Whitaker from using the boys' restroom while the case is pending.

There's no question that Ash has already suffered harm and has had physical repercussions from the policy as well as emotional repercussions.

Some parents are up in arms in Virginia Minnesota, so much so that they have contacted the so-called Alliance Defending Freedom. ADF has filed another lawsuit against a high school for repecting the needs of a transgender student.

But this one tops the plethora of similar cases ADF has pooped across the country.

In the face of adults in positions of responsibility who were questioning the wisdom of recently adopted guidelines meant to assure the safety and well-being of transgender students in Anne Arundel County, MD, a student rose to speak.

Scott Howarth is a student at Anne Arundel High School and current president of the Chesapeake Regional Association of Student Councils.

Not content with challenging the right of transgender people to have safe use of public restrooms and the right of transgender students to have equal access to public education, religious conservatives have now filed suit challenging an Obama administration ruling that transgender people deserve equal access to medical treatment.

YMCA of Metro Chicago has issued guidelines for accommodating transgender members and guests. They allow access to restrooms and changing areas matching gender identity.

The protocol was explained in a letter posted Wednesday on the organization's website. The YMCA of Metro Chicago said it also sent the letter to its 140,000 members at its 21 Chicagoland centers. The guidelines will cover all YMCA of Metro Chicago programs and services, from gym and pool facilities to summer camps and various classes. The policies wouldn't apply to some smaller, independent YMCA's in the Chicago area.

New York architect Esther Sperber has been thinking about he problem. The solution she has arrived at is architectural in nature: Bathrooms By Size

Sperber suggests that labeling restrooms by size, as opposed to gender, would eliminate the arguments favoring “bathroom bills” like North Carolina’s House Bill 2, which effectively prohibit transgender people from using public facilities that correspond with the gender identity. In the clip, Sperber explains why she believes that such categorizing would not only function better for those who don’t fit into a traditional male/female gender binary, but also address other issues, like long lines at women’s restrooms.

Preliminary data has been released from the 2015 US Transgender Survey, which was conducted last summer and had 28,000 adult respondents. Full data will be released later this year.

The data released concern bathrooms...which is not what our lives are about, but which dominate all perception of us.
