Danny Gatton

Album of the week 8-16-25

Afternoon folks!

This week we've got some great stuff especially for guitar fans. Starting out we have a live album from New Orleans blues guitarist Snooks Eaglin, followed by a compilation of Chicago blues harmonica player Billy Boy Arnold's early recordings. After that we have another live album from Fleetwood Mac back when they were a blues band featuring Peter Green on guitar. After that it's on to some live rockabilly with Robert Gordon and Danny Gatton and we finish up in the bluegrass lane with a couple of sets from Old & In The Way featuring Jerry Garcia on the banjo along with Vassar Clements, Peter Rowan, David Grisman and John Kahn.

Enjoy the tunes and have a great weekend!

Album of the Week 7-19-25

Afternoon folks!

It's a pretty good blues week, this week. Starting off we've got a compilation of a couple of 60's and early 70's albums (with bonus material) from Chicago blues slide guitar player J.B. Hutto, followed by an album from a guitarist from Detroit, Johnnie Bassett. After that there's an album of New Orleans blues and barrelhouse piano from Champion Jack Dupree very late in his career. Then it's on to a fine blues-rock album from Rory Gallagher and we finish up with an album from another insanely accomplished guitarist, Danny Gatton.

Enjoy the tunes and have a great weekend!

Album of the Week 3-8-25

Afternoon folks!

It's gonna be a good week because we're starting off with a Matt "Guitar" Murphy solo album with some really impressive guitfiddle playin'. After that we've got a live compilation of a variety of blues performers, most of whom followers of the Evening Blues will be familiar with, there's a notable blues rock perfomance on it from Stevie Ray Vaughn, early in his career. Following that there's a Taj Mahal album and a Savoy Brown album from their late career rock era. After that there are a couple of jazzy albums one from Danny Gatton and Tom Principato with some fairly amazing guitar playing and after that another from Gil Scott-Heron. Following that is an album from slide guitar monster Bob Brozman and we finish off with an album from David Bromberg.

Enjoy the tunes and have a great weekend!
