I have a uniquely American family tree.
One of my ancestors, a poor farmer named James Farren, joined the Illinois Calvary in 1862. He fought in every major battle in the western front for the Union Army, and remained enlisted until his company was disbanded in 1864.
It's official. After all these years going back and forth, democrats vs. republicans, liberals vs. conservatives, rich vs. poor, black vs. white, it's come down to the final big matchup. Left vs. Right.

In the present situation, I'll depart from my original intention of discussing the continuity and discontinuity emerging in the Trump Presidency. Everyday now, everyone I see proclaims to hold dear "American Values", but everyone in America and the rest of the world doesn't understand or experience these values in the same way. So I'll take a different path for now.
Why?
First, there was no reason to invade yet another PNAC, neocon target. Khadafi's rule was, if anything, more benign than how it was portrayed to us poor saps on our side of the pond. He was not invading his neighbors, he posed no threat to us or to our allies, and he had some pretty diverse groups under control.
And then, the evil cabal of Sidney blumenthal and Hillary Clinton took over.
And Obama blew it big time because of them.
