#Capitalism

Capitalism is the new Communism

Gotta hand it to Jimmy Dore and Russell Dobular, they knocked it out of the park today with this latest clip.

They began the segment by discussing the Francis Scott Key bridge collapse. Eight month before the collision, Maersk shipping was sanctioned by the Department of Labor for retaliating against an employee who reported unsafe workplace conditions.

Climate change mitigation again: California this time

The climate disasters are coming, and there probably won't be a lot of traction for the next four years because the Democrats all got behind Clinton (who wasn't going to do anything besides propose an overelaborated and useless sop to the fossil fuel companies anyway).

Capitalism

The concept of a “capitalist” first appeared in Holland in the early 1600’s, was developed in France during the 1700’s, and appeared in England in 1792. The first use of the term “capitalism” was by Louis Blanc in 1850, by Pierre-Joseph Proudhon in 1861, and established by Karl Marx in 1867. In all cases and especially with Marx, “capitalism” referred to a method of production.

Have We Ever Had a Democracy?

In short, my answer is no.

I base this answer on two things:

1.) A definition of democracy as a system where we all have a say in our affairs and may change conditions which are unsuitable to the majority.

2.) The absence of this principle in our judicial, economic, and political systems where instead Big Money rules.

Youtube's apparent censorship

Recently, there's been a torrent of videos on Youtube of people talking about, and heavily criticizing, Google's decision to demonitize (take away advertisement based funding) any and all videos that are, to name a few categories, "controversial, include swearing, show violence, contain partial nudity," among others. The immediate reaction was that people believed Google was engaging in censorship of some form.

Where does the money come from?

We have this morning the residue from a 100 year flood in Louisiana, and a terrifying wild fire, the largest of many, in CA. What if Mt. Rainier had erupted at the same time, pouring tons of mud on surrounding communities? It is considered active, in geological terms, along with Hood, Adams and many of the other Cascade volcanoes.

These are disasters of Biblical proportions. "Capitalism", "Free Market" cannot cope with them.
