Happy Juneteenth!

Slavery ended in this country, officially, on June 19th, 1865, the day when Major General Gordon Granger ordered the final enforcement of the Emancipation Proclamation in Texas at the end of the American Civil War. So now we celebrate the day as Juneteenth, which became a federal holiday in 2021. Yay! And now...

I gotta admit, I loved seeing the No Kings! protest marches in the cities and towns in the US on Saturday. There was even one in my little town! Seattle's march was huge, I was so proud. Yes, these were all just marches, but at least it says something about what a lot of the people of the USA think about Trump's possible dictatorship.

The Real Lesson of the Sleepy Joe Presidency

Fox News and the rest of the wingnut noise machine call it a scandal and "demand" to investigate who was really running the country while Joe was dozing off and walking into walls. As always, they are full of shit.

Now that Trump finds himself in a position in which nobody on the other side of the table gives much of a shit what President Blowhard has to say, it should be obvious to anyone who is not in the Red or Blue Cult that Trump is not any more in charge than Joe was.

The Post Truth Era

Open Thread Image.jpg

Perhaps we've always been in a post truth era, but what brought the idea to mind is the spin on Israel's Iran attack as a "pre-emptive strike". The real headline should be, "Israel Starts Another Illegal War", but the Zionist control our media and our politicians. Meanwhile we have protests/riots around the country. Does this remind anyone else of the BLM events? At the same time Ukraine is on its last leg militarily with almost no reporting on the coming disaster there.

Album of the Week 6-14-25

Afternoon folks!

There's a small, bluesy kinda haul for you this weekend. Starting out we've got a 60's album from Luther Allison followed by an album by Bacon Fat, an aggregation that included two great harmonica players, a young Rod Piazza and Harmonica George Smith. After that, I posted an album from a week ago from Howlin' Wolf, but this week if you check the playlist on youtube, you'll find 20 more tunes appended to the list. Finishing up there's David Bromberg with what I think is his most mellow album, but still well worth a listen for the great playing.

Enjoy the tunes and have a great weekend!
