So there was this conference call

I gather its host Mark Helperin is a ConservaDem journalist. It lasted an hour. It was about the Biden snafu. I gather they're Democratic Party-leaning journalists. Apparently the video itself has been made private. So nobody can see it. Nonetheless, I saw it. It was kind of fun watching the participants panic.

Moderates are nothing without the left

If you just look at the headlines of the British and French elections you would never know just how important the political left factored into these elections.

Sometimes it feels like I'm witnessing a Greek Tragedy. One that even Sophocles may not have dreamed of.

Surely, the same human dynamics were at play in Sophocles' time as they are today, but if one wanted to pen a modern Greek Tragedy a seminal factor that would be beyond an ancient Greek's understanding would be, digital technology. 4th of July!
It's Thursday and it's the 4th of July! It's been 248 years since this nation was created, if one takes 1776 as the date of creation. And in 1814 the poem featuring the line 'the rockets' red glare, and the bombs bursting in air' over Fort McHenry during the battle of Baltimore was published by Francis Scott Key. This poem became the Star Spangled Banner. So that's 210 years old. And our enemy at the time, the United Kingdom, is now our best bud as we take over (took over) its role as the english-speaking Empire leader!

Maybe we really do have the candidates we deserve

After giving it some thought I've come to the conclusion that the presidential debate kind of does represent our political establishment. Sure, the American people deserve better than this, but this isn't about the American people. This is about our political system and our political system is hopelessly broken.
So watching a geriatric lifetime politician debate a professional conman felon is an accurate reflection of our political system.
