Just the other day, while I was bribing my local political commissar, it hit me.

I finally decided to write a valedictory diary over at TOP, after not participating there in over six months. I'm publishing it here first, and will let them know where to find the original. Warning: some links are to DailyKos diaries.

Was Russia behind the DNC hacks? Maybe, maybe not.
But one thing we know for certain: no one has produced any proof.
I know some democrats have been blaming transgender people for the so-called bathroom bills, going so far as to blame them for the election of the Trump. If examined closely, however, one should be able to detect that all the transgender community has done to instigate those bills is to exist. The conservative forces take it upon themselves to advance such legislation, in hopes of forcing transgender people out of public life.
Drone footage (2:20) from December 9 shows construction continuing on the DAPL. It is clear that Energy Transfer Partners is determined to get this thing built, despite court rulings, despite not having a permit to drill, despite the weather.

This election cycle has brought forth the destructive nature of Identity Politics. Instead of Democrats looking at how their morally-compromised, ethically-challenged, corrupt, hawkish, neoliberal candidate lost, they instead have turned towards it is the racist's faults, the misogynist's fault, the white, working class' fault.
A friend directed me to a blog that purports to explain how Hillary Clinton, the most unpopular candidate in recent American history, managed to lose the presidential election to Donald Trump, the only candidate who may actually surpass her in unfavorable regard.
That was quite a feat and everyone involved deserves a measure of credit.
