Resistance to Fracking in Chaco Canyon: Support Needed Today
Submitted by blazinAZ on Wed, 01/25/2017 - 10:15am
If you have time right now (from 8:59am MST until 12 noon MST), we're being asked to log in to www.energynet.com and help to flood their server. Activists are trying to prevent an auction of sacred lands in Chaco Canyon, NM, to allow fracking. The people don’t want it.

How UNESCO can be dissed, as well as citizens!
Day-time meetings when those who work probably are.
Going for complete suck-dry of resources because Now We Can??
The fight began for real in November, and now we know it's worse than we thought.
Resist. At least public questions that They will not answer. Te half-remainder of the 99% may understand. Be gentle.
Hey! my dear friends or soon-to-be's, JtC could use the donations to keep this site functioning for those of us who can still see the life preserver or flotsam in the water.
I'm keeping a tab open
trying to clog the site ...is this something new or something that's been in the works?
I'm lucky to have visited Chaco and it is a sacred site.
“Until justice rolls down like water and righteousness like a mighty stream.”
I have not seen, but friends who have become worshipful.
And the Natives guard well, from what I hear. Respect is necessary. I have felt that in the Adirondacks and in Cave Mammoth. And by Oceans.

The hashtag #resistoften is also worth checking out
There is no justice in America, but it is the fight for justice that sustains you.

In the past we've had to divide our energies
for resistance between environmental, economic, social justice etc. causes.
Has it now become so bad that we can all rise up and resist it ALL?
The number of properties available
keeps dropping. Very disheartening.
What happened to those environmental groups that buy up precious land, like the sierra club and others? Or has the Sierra Club become too corporatized? We should appeal to any environmental group with the means to purchase...
I don't think the Sierra has made a practice of buying
The Nature Conservancy does buy environmentally sensitive land and they get a lot of funding from foundations and corporations as well as their membership. Unlike the Audubon Society, the Nature Conservancy does dispose of parcels of land and many who have donated don't like this practice.
"The justness of individual land right is not justifiable to those to whom the land by right of first claim collectively belonged"
Thanks for that info,
You frequently provide information I had previously been unaware of in your posts, and I appreciate it very much.
The sale of land around Chaco
The sale of land around Chaco Canyon would be a tragedy equal to the worst of any and all of what’s earthly valuable. I once spent a week there, and experienced it as not only an exceptionally sacred place, but the ruins of what is an incomparable historical treasure. I wish I could be there now. Thank you for your work.
