Political hypocrisy is nothing new, but occasionally it rises to comic levels. One of the funniest, although not meaning to be so, is Wall Street lackey Chuck Schumer. As I noted in an earlier post, if you thought 2016 was weird, then 2017 is getting even weirder. Several things stand out about the past 12-14 months.
At 5am a-week-ago Monday I received a text from an organizer. There was an incident in Beach Flats with ICE — Immigration & Customs Enforcement. There were also incidents in Live Oak, on Ocean St. and at 41st. At 5:15 I texted everyone who I thought could help. No one replied. I tried calling. Nothing. I finally called J. He wasn't on my list but is a good friend. He answered.

It's good to see you. Come on in, leave your shoes in the hallway, we've got fire on the stove preparing lunch for later. In the meantime, browse the bookshelves and plunk down on the sofa with one, or pick out some tunes from the music library, or come in to the kitchen to help with the cooking. Our special blend of tea is steeping and will be right up.
There's some rhetoric out there that I would like to see fade out of the so-called "Left." Life is politically pointless in America for the "Left" now, the main contests being between competing versions of the "Right," and we ought to ask why.
