Independence Day will be a smoke show in Austin this summer as concertgoers try to separate the weed from the barbecue at Willie Nelson’s Fourth of July Picnic. Expect extra celebrations as this year’s installment marks the annual event’s 50th anniversary.
As a side note, Willie celebrates his 90th year on the planet this week.
What music would you suggest to go with this?
happy fourth

Way back in the day…
In 1975 we attended the Willie Nelson 4th of July picnic outside of Liberty Hill Texas. We traveled to the concert in an old Postal van painted orange red that of course broke down on the way. Rather than pull to the side, put it in neutral and pushed our way in. We were joined in our efforts by people that had abandoned their cars because of the traffic jam. Quite a good time was had by all. One of the highlights besides Willie was the Pointer Sisters performance. Cannot upload a song selection but enjoy the memories!
Life is what you make it, so make it something worthwhile.
This ain't no dress rehearsal!

Ah, Willie
I went to one of his anniversary shows decades ago. In Trinity, Texas.
A friend was in a minor wreck going home, got arrested for DWI, did a little damage to his Porche. His Dad came with cash, as he had before, as he would again, got the son out of jail, all charges dropped. The son is now a Senior District Judge, presiding over 18 districts, amounting to about 25 counties. He would have been barred from law school had any of those DWIs been prosecuted.
Willie would be the first to tell you it is good to be white and rich in Texas.

What an amazing human being.
I got to see him in concert here in Minneapolis just before Covid.
In my childhood he was a family hero due to his involvement in the farm crisis. The Farm Aid concert meant a lot to us humble farmers. That a big star cared about our well being.
This morning I cut a big limb off a neighbors box elder tree. I accepted a bottle of Canadian whiskey in return. My nomination for favorite Wiilie song.......
Whiskey River.
As we celebrate this national holiday, my thought has been that it has turned into a celebration of militarism. I think of Independence as being independent of powers that will govern us. That ordinary humans can self govern and that a government to derive its powers must have the consent of the governed. And to get that they must earn it. Our founding fathers rejected governance by divine right or shear brutality. (in concept anyhow). They fought kings, we fight big Pharma, big corp, big MSM. Big militarism.
Have a nice day.
Willie wrote
"Crazy", made famous by Patsy Cline. He wrote, "Hello Walls". Faron Young made a hit of it.
He didn't write this, but made it famous.

Happy Birthday Willie, you are a treasure
Thanks Q
As Willie was always on the road, again and again, I wanna know
if the road has an end and what to do when you realize that there is no end.
thinking straight is a major road block for me, these days.
Happy Birthday Willie Nelson. You have a sweet voice. My son and I can't agree about you. Sigh, sons, what a burden, sigh, mothers, what a super burden.
That is all there is. I will never roll you up.
Lemme know where the end of the road will be, deal?

Thank you. I wish I knew when my life was going to expire, but it just keeps dragging on and on as if nothing happened. lol There's a lot I don't know, but that's alright. For now. Good day!
It is not the same without you
love and peace
"but it just keeps dragging on and on as if nothing happened"
yet it happened so much. life for my sister drags on and on, and I wonder if she rather want her life to go on or if she wished it would be all over. we are good to make fun of both of our lives, though it isn't that much fun. So we pretend to each other it is fun. For me it is one of the rare lies I allow myself to express.
just something
I don't know why I chose this song. So forgive me if it was the wrong one.
love comes first, for sure. Thanks eyo, it makes me happy you came back here. I wish you a long, long life that drags on spreading love to all of us. Thank You.
