This is why liberals suck

Back in 2018, after Trump bombed Syria, Congress proposed an AUMF for our military occupation and efforts at regime change in that nation. Nancy Pelosi insisted that an AUMF was necessary if we wanted to continue to bomb Syria.

“If the President plans to escalate militarily in Syria, he must come to the Congress to ask for an Authorization for Use of Military Force. The Congress has a solemn responsibility to debate an AUMF. The American people deserve a comprehensive strategy that will keep our military safe and avoid collateral damage.”

Simply, our war against the Syrian government and its allies is illegal, both by domestic and international laws. There is no AUMF that covers it.

Flash forward three years.
Biden is now bombing both Syria and Iraq.
In a typical move, Washington called the bombing a nation on the other side of the world, that wants nothing to do with us, "defensive".

It is not possible for occupying invaders to be acting defensively in the nations they are occupying an invading; US troops are only in Iraq by way of an illegal 2003 invasion, a bogus 2014 re-entry, and a refusal to leave at the Iraqi government's request last year, and they are in Syria illegally and without the permission of the Syrian government. They can therefore only ever be aggressors; they cannot be acting defensively.

Since this is BIG news, I was curious what the DailyKos' take on this critical issue.
When I looked at the frontpage I saw this headline and I got excited.

Was the Democratic-controlled House finally going to do their jobs and reign in the war powers of the presidency? Not exactly.

The House is in, well, house-cleaning mode this week, dealing with clutter and outmoded bits and pieces lying around. They're kicking it off Tuesday by getting rid of the insurrectionist relics from the last two centuries. They will vote on a measure to remove Confederate statues from the U.S. Capitol, as well as a bust of Chief Justice Roger B. Taney, who wrote the Dred Scott decision back in 1857 denying citizenship to Black people.

Hurray for Identity Politics!

Conservatives suck for a whole slew of different reasons that I won't go into right now, but this is a great example of why liberals suck.

How cute! They think that their borders mean something.

“We condemn the US air attack that targeted a site last night on the Iraqi-Syrian border, which represents a blatant and unacceptable violation of Iraqi sovereignty and Iraqi national security,” said a statement from the Iraqi PM’s office.

Won't take this lying down

U.S. troops based at an oil field in northeastern Syria came under rocket attack Monday, one day after U.S. jets launched airstrikes on facilities used by Iranian-backed militias in the Iraq-Syria border region.

There are no injuries and damage is being assessed. "We will provide updates when we have more information," Operation Inherent Resolve spokesman Colonel Wayne Marotto tweeted Monday afternoon.

@gjohnsit They owe us one, after all - and are we not talking about the birthplace of debt, AND war, AND Justice?

Today's libs have nothing in common with the libs of the 50's and 60's, where I got my political chops.
They were once awesome.Today, they are awesome campaign funders.

In ANY way.
Rush Limbaugh's finally dead (after seeing his last few photos, I'd wanted to say at the time, 'Lost a lot of weight? Grew a good-looking beard? Cancer suits you, Rush'), so why does anybody keep calling them that??? Even THEY don't call themselves that; they're as repulsed by the word now as they were in the '000s.

Liberal, if nothing else, means 'values freedom' - and shares roots with the word for 'book', which is hardly an accident. Need I remind you that the modern institution of the public library is a distinctly American invention, and with only a precious few competitors, hands-down the greatest thing America has ever done. Words and their histories matter; it's no accident that "freedom" and "books" would share linguistic roots. Khmer-Rouge-like campaigns to destroy centuries of hard-earned knowledge and call it "liberation" (or worse, "justice") are just more of the oldest, most villainous streak in the American character: Just like in Disney's Pinocchio, a gaggle of alluring hucksters promise to take the naive and vulnerable to "Pleasure Island", where they encourage you to indulge decadence of all sorts, destroying reason for the sake of feeling, and once you've made a jackass of yourself literally and figuratively, it's off to the salt mines! The only thing that saved us, that ever made America great, was liberalism: Recognition that (to resort to MY late-20th-Century terminology rather than that of any Founding Father) logic is Chaos, and emotion is Law; as Spinoza said, "I call him free who is led solely by reason." THAT IS LIBERALISM.

WHY ARE YOU THROWING THIS AWAY?!? WE ARE the liberals; let's OWN IT. As on the cusp alludes to, "liberals" are what this country needs and wants - we all know the Democratic Party has long since ceased to be liberal, AND is even less "democratic" than the Republican Party, which can at least kinda-sorta claim some continuing legitimacy to its brand-name (they're even better at knowing how to practice democracy). Don't let them own a label they don't even want. Those are always harder to stick, anyway.

"Shitlibs", "neolibs" (I never liked the latter, it misses something essential about liberalism), both those terms are preferable - but why not call them what they really are: Crypto-fascists (or maybe 'Crypts' for short, in a knowing nod to Jesse Ventura's 2013 book
