from Danny - at the Deep South Homestead, which I found looking for info on how to propagate and process sugarcane (My initial clump is about ten feet tall now and its about time to harvest and expand the plantings).
Lots of love and good homesteading info on that channel - this is something different...

Once went to S. FL. on a college ag trip. Saw 10000 acres of celery and 12000 acres of sugar cane. They were using machetes to cut the cane and simply let it regrow. Don't know how many years they can do that. This was down near Miami.
In my location we can grow cane sorghum, but it is an annual that must be replanted.

They make quite a bit on sand mt., one mountain over from lookout.
