This damn business that roots around in everyone’s business and decideswho is ‘credit worthy’ snd who is not has done more to enable identity theft than sny organization in existence. And more than half the time the information they provide is faulty, Trust me, I know. Back in the day when I was young enough to be considered ‘employable, I did work for a company that provided credit reports for mortgage lenders. The business pulled data from this dump,TransUnion (who provided the most unreliable data) and Experian. We got paid to clean up the bullshit on people’s reports. Mortgage lenders decided our service cost too much so it closed down due to its unprofitably.

I was really really good at rooting out bad info and getting it fixed. The one business entity that gave us the hardest time when it came to fixing bad info were the damn credit card companies. But that’s a story for another day.

Another 2.4 million Equifax consumers have data stolen in massive leak

Credit score provider Equifax has identified another 2.4 million of its US customers who had their names and partial driver’s licence information stolen in a massive data breach last year. This adds to 145.5 million Americans who are known to have had their social security numbers compromised. The company said they will “notify these newly identified U.S. consumers directly, and will offer identity theft protection and credit file monitoring services at no cost to them,” in a statement released Thursday.
