Wall Street hates Warren more than they like Clinton

This was on HuffPost this morning, but by 6pm it was gone gone gone. I found it on Politico by Googling for "clinton backers reject warren"

“If Clinton picked Warren, her whole base on Wall Street would leave her,” said one top Democratic donor who has helped raise millions for Clinton. “They would literally just say, ‘We have no qualms with you moving left, we understand all the things you’ve had to do because of Bernie Sanders, but if you are going there with Warren, we just can’t trust you, you’ve killed it.’”

Funny, I didn't think there was anything she could do to make them think they couldn't trust her. "Moving left" wouldn't do it. They apparently know better than most voters, or at least most Democrats, that moving left will last only as long as it needs to.

By the way, the most-favored for VP, of those mentioned as being favored by big donors, would seem to be Senator Tim Kaine of Virginia. Pro-business, check. Pro-military, check. Swing state, check.

They are not going to support Drumpf because he's batshit crazy as they well know. HRC could choose a pig for VP, but is so far in the bag for Wall Street it wouldn't matter. IMO she needs Warren more than Kaine to try and pick up some support from wavering Bernie young people. But that's just my opinion.

that's why I am suprised they object to anything floated from the Clinton campaign, because they know that in the end they will get what they really want

It's not enough that Hillary is a completely owned subsidiary of Wall Street, but the tender sensibilities in the big corner offices can't even bear to hear her pander to the left wing of the party. They have to publicly jerk her leash and show that she has to kowtow to them.

It's not like Hillary would have chosen Warren anyway. Tim Kaine is way more her speed. But Wall Street gazillionaires want to take credit for her not choosing Warren. It's nice of them to make things so transparently obvious.

That anything could come between them and their H?

Maybe I should have put a question mark after the title, or said "A story in Politico claims ...".

I believe the Tim Kaine part though.

That's an interesting possibiity. Would they be thinking they could isolate and neutralize her as VP? Or something else?

all on its lonesome. And it would take her out of the senate, where she has been an advocate for curtailing Wall Street's privileges; g_d knows who or what would replace her there, an R or a less inequality focused D? Either way, it would be something of a loss.

it would only go to show that Wall Street didn't give a shit about her being Veep. This story was put out so that if Hillary picks Warren, she could say "I'm in the bag for Wall Street, eh? So why did I pick Wall Street's nemesis, Elizabeth Warren? This proves" that I'm not in their pockets." When all the while, she still is theirs and forever will be.

Jim Webb, who got no traction as a presidential candidate, had to essentially run to the right of Hitler to defeat George "Macaca" Allen in his Senate run. And the state legislature is the typical Rethug cesspool.

I spent several years in the Shenandoah Valley and the Tidewater areas, and I've never seen such a bunch of right wing racists. Not sure about the DC area, but calling it a swing state is a real stretch. So no, Kaine won't help her a bit as VP.

But Allen was much further right than that, and an obnoxious asshole on top of it. And people still hadn't forgiven him for shredding the state's economy as Governor.

NoVa, close in to DC, is becoming almost-reliably Blue, and there are isolated spots farther out (Winchester, for instance, is faintly purply-blue in a sea of red - I think it's Shenandoah University that does it). But most of the rest of the state is still Gooberland.

needs to build up her anti Wall St cred to get a portion of the progressive vote. Mmmm wonder how she could do that? I know - she could have word put around that they are fighting her on the hypothetical choice of a supposedly progressive VP. Now if only there was a media outlet that was designed as a place where politicians could seed stories and where they would not be fact checked in any way at all but would be published as is - Ah Politico I hear you cry.

What I find surprising is how eagerly certain people, like Cenk from TYT, are buying into that. Thought Cenk was a little more cunning than that, but it could be that his irrational fear of Trump has clouded his judgement.

I had the same thoughts. It could well be Wall Street as Br'er Rabbit, saying, oh please, don't throw me in the briar patch....

The other possibility is that Wall Street is really too paranoid and too dumb to realize that Warren's self-muzzling is a crystal clear signal that she represents no real challenge to their hegemony.

they're manipulating the narrative to look like that if Clinton picks Warren, she's bucking Wall Street. Which sort of makes me think that a Warren pick is coming. I really hope not, becuz Warren will be effectively neutralized as VP. Hillary already said that she wanted a VP that wouldn't buck Bill on policy-- meaning that her VP will be little more than a showpiece.

I must admit that I am amazed at how many people took this story at face value.

Ooooh, look how daring Clinton is, and look how wall street buckled under and supported Clinton after she chose Warren anyway. Look how tough Clinton really is.

All of this is based on one guy's statements about what he know will happen - about one guy's conjecture…

And then Hillary sways the Warren loyalists picking up those voters while wall street snickers at the voters since Clinton can do as wshe choses in office anyway.

Blech. No thanks. I'm not buying what the circus clowns are selling.

Dubya and voted for Obama. I didn't realize at that time I was witnessing the beginning of a realignment of the parties. Now I see it clearly. When hope and change gave way to the appointment of Republicans and neoliberals to the administration, I became uneasy. When "healthcare reform" became health insurance reform the trend was becoming clear, but still I hoped. That has changed as I see this election's purpose is to cement the power of the oligarchy.

"The object of persecution is persecution. The object of torture is torture. The object of power is power. Now do you begin to understand me?" ~Orwell, "1984"

Clinton can't afford to assume that her bank speeches won't come out. A Warren VP pick would be the strongest antidote for the ensuing outrage. Clinton would have to take the line that she only said what she said to please the bankers and didn't really mean it. I am sure there are focus groups of young voters being formed right now to analyze what a Warren VP pick would mean to Clinton's appeal. Of course, the number of Republican votes Hillary would get would drop with a Warren VP pick.

The bankers would have Warren out of the Senate, where she could continue to call them out. As VP, Warren could do and say only what Clinton would let her.
