Third Party Report: Libertarians get Union Leader Endorsement

Over on the right side of the anti-authoritarian political spectrum, Gary Johnson and Bill Weld have picked up an endorsement from the prominent conservative daily The Manchester Union Leader:

Libertarians Gary Johnson and Bill Weld are on the ballot in all 50 states. Their records (as Republican governors in politically-divided states) speak well of them. They would be worth considering under many circumstances. In today’s dark times, they are a bright light of hope and reason. The Union Leader and Sunday News endorse them.

Having lived in NH for 8 years, I'm not a big fan of the Union Leader, but it shows that not everyone is resigned to voting for the lesser evil:

Americans are being told that we have to choose the lesser of two evils. No, we don’t.

Personally, I much prefer people of principle whom I disagree with to bought and paid for political opportunists.

that I might disagree with at some level instead of what our establishment dictates. My eyes have been open wide, this election cycle. I cannot unsee or unhear any of it any longer. For me, enough is enough. I am taking a stand.

This election is doing well when it comes to exposing the fissures in the two parties that have been plastered over for too long.

Libertarians don't believe in unions "forcing" employers to pay more than what the employer deems sufficient.

But I haven't lived there since the early 80s.

Like many here, I have mixed feelings about the Libs. They are extremely non-interventionist (not knowing where Allepo is could be considered a plus) and the economic stimulus from not blowing up our Wealth and lives abroad could have a good short term effect economically, but the long term problems from income inequality a la Picketty would not get dealt with.

The reason I track them is that I find their success hopeful for the libertarian (small l) left. The duopoly candidates are both fairly right wing authoritarians. Libs are right but anti-authoritarian, and Bernie and the Greens are both left libertarian. So I'm not fond of them overall, but they are actually closer to my views one axis.

They are just fine with corporations and the 1% doing whatever they want to you. They just don't want any meddling from democratic institutions like gub'mint or unions.
