Team Hillary spikes football, but even WaPo says this is "worse than we thought"

Without fail, the neoliberal talking heads online today were out in force trying to spin today as a complete vindication of their disingenuous shilling. They have been pumping the narrative for weeks that anyone who asked questions about this email scandal was either "sexist" or part of a "right-wing conspiracy".

Guess the pro-Clinton newspaper Washington Post is now..... a right wing conspiracy theorist?

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2016/07/05/hillary-clinto...

It’s hard to read Comey’s statement as anything other than a wholesale rebuke of the story Clinton and her campaign team have been telling ever since the existence of her private email server came to light in spring 2015. She did send and receive classified emails. The setup did leave her — and the classified information on the server — subject to a possible foreign hack. She and her team did delete emails as personal that contained professional information.

Those are facts, facts delivered by the Justice Department of a Democratic administration. And those facts run absolutely counter to the narrative put forth by the Clinton operation: that this whole thing was a Republican witch-hunt pushed by a bored and adversarial media.

Of course, the neoliberal hacks can't address the specifics of this scandal, lest they be forced to confront reality.

Hillary Clinton's claim that her email practices were 'allowed'-- rated FALSE by Politifact.

Hillary Clinton: 'my predecessors did the same thing' with email-- rated MOSTLY FALSE by Politifact.

Of course, Team Hillary is relying on willful ignorance on the part of the Believers, as well as low-info voters' ignorance of the case details, to push their Colin Powell talking points. The same kind of talking points that Bush's administration would kick around during scandals and get pilloried for, we now see neolib hacks wheeling out.

For instance, reliable Clinton hack Eric Boehlert squawked triumphantly on twitter--

https://twitter.com/EricBoehlert/status/750356619683397632

"press leaning VERY heavily on "this story has legs." it doesn't.."

Then, perturbed by the amount of press that Comey's press conference got, Eric spent the next 9 hours tweeting breathlessly in defense of Clinton. A lot of tweeting from a guy working for the Clinton machine and pretending to be indie, given that this story supposedly has 'no legs' or validity. He even takes a lame stab in one tweet at mocking Shaun King, as those without integrity are wont to do to those who have it.

Many took note of the #TOOBigTOJail aspect of this case, and that hashtag was all over twitter today due to Comey's own admission that clinton got special treatment.

Outside of the diehard Clintonites, few were impressed by today's findings in the online world. If the pervasiveness of 'conspiracy theories' is something that worries establishment Democrats, it must not worry them enough to demand any accountability of Clinton. The 'optics' of Clinton getting off scot-free for her pay-to-play politics while a black mayor of Detroit gets almost 30 years for taking far less in bribes was not lost on twitter users.

The irony of Snowden being exiled for "handling of classified info" whilst Hillary gets off was also noted.
https://twitter.com/TwistInThePlot/status/750360982623367168

The talking points asserting that Clinton is victim of a witch hunt don't work in the general electorate given the already-cemented public dislike and distrust of Clinton. And that skepticism is justified, given reports that Clinton ordered her State Dept schedules to be burned.

In closing, WaPo writer notes that

"..the email issue will haunt her all the way through Election Day on Nov. 8."

It will stick around far longer than that, as we will be calling out the secrecy and corruption of Hillary's administration the entire time she is in office. And with Trump playing his role as 'bad cop' so effectively today re: Saddam Hussein comments, we are left with no alternative to a Clinton presidency short of some kind of electoral shock.

Federal officials may not use private email accounts to get around public records laws, a federal judge ruled on Tuesday.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. She Lied and She Got Away With It

But wait, as they used to say in the late night television spots, there's more. At the same time Clinton was receiving what her supporters will no doubt eventually morph into an exoneration, her husband's private June 27 meeting at a Phoenix airport aboard a private plane with U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch was made the subject of a Freedom of Information Act request by Cause of Action Institute, a good government group run by a former federal judge.

The group wants all records, transcripts or recordings of the meeting, as well as the attorney general's schedule for June 26-28, 2016, "including but not limited to pre- and post-meeting email which concern the meeting in any way" because whatever the two were doing – and we doubt seriously she was giving him a haircut – the fact that the two met in what can only be described as suspicious circumstances "raises serious concerns about impartiality at the Department of Justice."

What they'll get may depend on a D.C. Circuit court ruling issued Tuesday while all eyes were elsewhere that agency records, including "departmental emails on an account in another domain," must be searched or produced in response to Freedom of Information Act requests.

.

And a surprising admission from a member of the press:

The only conclusion left to reach is she did it, she got away with it, and she'll probably do things just like it again and again and again. The mechanisms to hold her accountable simply do not exist in America at this time. And excuse my cynicism, but you need to put myself and the rest of the journalistic community at the top of the list of people to blame for that.

.

The above quote also tells us what the future holds in store for us IF we allow her to be elected.

During the March 9, 2016 Democratic debate, Jorge Ramos from Univision asked Hillary if she would drop out of the race if she were indicted. The fix was in and it's obvious, although I'm glad one of her biggest cheerleaders, the Washington Post, is giving the situation a little attention. that they knew that the server had probably been hacked and so they took the server offline for a few days and fixed it.
Was Comey aware of that?
And what is going on with the guy who set it up and was given imunity from prosecution? Why would they give him that if the investigation wasn't going to go anywhere?
What will happen if JW finds out that people that they have deposed lied to them?

And why isn't there any consequences for her not turning over all of the emails when she told the FBI that she had and also said that the only emails erased were her private ones about yoga and Chelsea's wedding?
30,000 personal emails?
I still think that it was set up so that people from the foundation could have access to it. Huma said that Chelsea was able to access the emails. I'm pretty sure that she didn't have security clearance to read them.
Comey, my man, you screwed up big time. I think he said everything he said because he did want to charge her but was told not to.

I have a very good idea exactly why they gave him immunity and the Comey statement touched on it without further comment.

Comey stated:

I have so far used the singular term, “e-mail server,” in describing the referral that began our investigation. It turns out to have been more complicated than that. Secretary Clinton used several different servers and administrators of those servers during her four years at the State Department, and used numerous mobile devices to view and send e-mail on that personal domain. As new servers and equipment were employed, older servers were taken out of service, stored, and decommissioned in various ways.

Up to this point we only knew of 2 servers. Now we know there were several. And recall that it was reported at one point the IP address of Hillary's server changed from a location in her home to an IP address that was located in Manhattan at the offices of Bill Clinton which also happen to be the offices of the Clinton Foundation.

At first, we all thought that giving immunity to the guy who setup and maintained her server was the smoking gun and Hillary was in deep shit. Later, and I posted something here a week or so ago, that I was having second thoughts. I speculated that by giving Pagliano immunity, they were ensuring that the information he had would never be released to the public. He was able to use that immunity as an excuse to take the 5th in the Justice Watch case. I also speculated that if Hillary was not indicted we would never hear about his testimony to the FBI or what he knew.

And here we are! No indictments and we have know idea what Bryan Pagliano did or didn't do with her server(s). But we now know that it wasn't just 2 servers, it was several. He knows where they were located, when they were replaced, when they were moved and who had access to them. He knows the details of all the security setups. He knows if and how many times hacks were attempted. He may know that the server(s) were hacked. I find it very, very interesting that the State Department can't seem to find a single email ever sent or received by Bryan Pagliano. Are we to believe he never sent an email? And now that this has all been swept under the rug, we'll likely never know what he knows. I wouldn't be surprised if he is under a gag order to keep his mouth shut or they will prosecute him.

What I would like to see now, is some real reporter/journalist ask the following question of the FBI and the Department of Justice...

“Now that no criminal wrongdoing has been found on the part of any individual involved in this case, is Bryan Pagliano free to discuss what he knows about the setup of her server(s) and will you release the transcripts of your interviews with him to the public?”

I still think that they might be going after the Clinton foundation and the pay for play regarding weapons sells.
If her server was set up in the Clinton foundation building, then how many people had access to the emails that regarded the state department business and didn't have security clearance?
That should be the smoking gun to put her away.
As I wrote above, Chelsea had access to the emails and if she read any classified information, then both her and Hillary should be charged.
And if Bryan is under a gag order, then this is more evidence that someone put pressure on the Comey not to prosecute her.
I didn't listen to him give his speech, but from what else he said, I don't think he agrees with the decision to not charge her.
This may not be over as everyone thinks.
I have stated before that I think what she did with the foundation was against the law. She used her position as SOS to both profit the foundation, but especially Bill.
How many speeches did he give before the state department sold weapons?
And she didn't just sell weapons, she also helped other financial resolve their problems with the government and also helped defense companies get deals, like Boeing's deal with Russia. And after each time she helped, those industries would donate to her foundation.
I know that Grassley was concerned about this issue, but I don't know why he didn't do anything about it.
She was told by both congress and Obama to keep her foundation separate from her duties as SOS.

is the biggest issue here. And I suspect that investigation is ongoing. Perhaps Pagliano's testimony, and his immunity, deal more directly with that server being moved to the Clinton Foundation headquarters and who or how many had access. I seem to recall some conversation, perhaps from Pagliano's attorneys, that they didn't want him to testify because it would reveal too many details on the course of the FBI's investigation.

Comey discussed that they recovered far more emails from her "wiped with a cloth" server that were in the batch of personal ones that were deleted by Hillary's attorney.

This helped us recover work-related e-mails that were not among the 30,000 produced to State. Still others we recovered from the laborious review of the millions of e-mail fragments dumped into the slack space of the server decommissioned in 2013.

With respect to the thousands of e-mails we found that were not among those produced to State, agencies have concluded that three of those were classified at the time they were sent or received, one at the Secret level and two at the Confidential level. There were no additional Top Secret e-mails found. Finally, none of those we found have since been “up-classified.”

He seems to focus only the few emails of those that were found to contain classified info and never mentions the content of the thousands of others. The key point here is that they recovered thousands of those deleted emails and they've read them all! If, as we all suspect, there is any evidence of pay for play, or her using her SOS position to benefit her or the Clinton Foundation. they know about them.

Unfortunately, I don't think we'll be hearing much about this any time soon. This too will swept under the rug if it's possible. Hillary will be running for her second term by the time any investigation finishes up on this investigation. However, should Hillary somehow still win the nomination and become president, you'll be hearing about it daily beginning on the day she is inaugurated and continuing throughout her first term in office... Or her successful impeachment and removal from office, whichever comes first. The republicans will be relentless on this. Her entire presidency will be nothing but investigations. I wouldn't be surprised if the republicans start with articles of impeachment as their first order of business the day the new Congress is called to order.

Far from a smoking gun. Pagliano's issues were two:

1. He did not tell State he was moonlighting and earning more that State allowed for employees. That can be punished.

2. Pagliano did not report the earnings on his tax returns. That can be punished, too.

It had nothing to do with Clinton. I sourced that out at various times, but it wouldn't parse.

in exchange for his testimony about Hillary's servers. You've pointed out 2 well known facts about what he may have feared he could be prosecuted for. But, if he had nothing to offer the investigation, why would they have bothered to give him immunity. They could have just decided not to prosecute him for those things since they weren't part of the investigation.

The fact remains, we still have no idea what he told the FBI about the Hillary server(s) and likely never will. It was all about Hillary!

Washington Has Been Obsessed With Punishing Secrecy Violations — until Hillary Clinton

Secrecy is a virtual religion in Washington. Those who violate its dogma have been punished in the harshest and most excessive manner – at least when they possess little political power or influence. As has been widely noted, the Obama administration has prosecuted more leakers under the 1917 Espionage Act than all prior administrations combined. Secrecy in DC is so revered that even the most banal documents are reflexively marked classified, making their disclosure or mishandling a felony. As former CIA and NSA Director Michael Hayden said back in 2000, “Everything’s secret. I mean, I got an email saying ‘Merry Christmas.’ It carried a top secret NSA classification marking.”

People who leak to media outlets for the selfless purpose of informing the public – Daniel Ellsberg, Tom Drake, Chelsea Manning, Edward Snowden – face decades in prison. Those who leak for more ignoble and self-serving ends – such as enabling hagiography (Leon Panetta, David Petreaus) or ingratiating oneself to one’s mistress (Petraeus) – face career destruction, though they are usually spared if they are sufficiently Important-in-DC. For low-level, powerless Nobodies-in-DC, even the mere mishandling of classified information – without any intent to leak but merely to, say, work from home – has resulted in criminal prosecution, career destruction and the permanent loss of security clearance.

This extreme, unforgiving, unreasonable, excessive posture toward classified information came to an instant halt in Washington today – just in time to save Hillary Clinton’s presidential aspirations.

But that was four hours ago when I was younger and full of hope.

That's classic. Will you post this in tomorrow's BNR? This will make peoples heads explode.
And now that I have seen Comey's demeanor, I don't think that he agrees with what he said.

Which AIPAC/MIC/pharma/bank bought politician are you going to vote for? Don’t be surprised when nothing changes.

Kicking and screaming, he was. Is he a superdelegate?

a couple times you get the feeling he's going to finish it up by announcing he's going to step down from his position and resign, effective immediately. Wouldn't surprise me in the least for him to announce his resignation in the next couple of weeks.

I don't comment over at TOP any more, but I did post it in the BNR over at TPW.

No doubt Vince Foster greeted him at the gates to escort him to the Clinton Victims section. Hahahha.

I'm going with, I don't believe it until it gets some reliable reporting. All I see now is a couple right wing loony sites covering it.

missing' story. I saw the Ash story and couldn't make any sense of it and figured it was garbage, but THIS? And it looks like people believed it.

Some election. Look at what people think about the candidates. Their disapproval ratings are way higher than their approval ratings. They both lie like the proverbial 'rug'. The head of the FBI says the Left candidate is dishonest, 'careless', and if she was anyone else she would be in deep shit. Plus there still might be an investigation going on regarding the Family Slush Fund. (I hope that's true because that's where the real dirt is hidden.) The embarrassing or sad or pitiful fact about Clinton is that people know that she's a loose canon when it comes to covering up her lies so they'll believe anything. They'll even believe she has people killed to cover up whatever she's got herself involved in. That's not exactly a plus for the first female president's legacy IMO. But YMMV.

(I hate acronyms but today I'm just disgusted enough to use them.)

The Right's candidate has so many lawsuits against him that he would probably be in court for his entire term, so the cluck he picks to run with him will have to do the day-to-day job of running the place anyway. Trump will just Tweet from whichever court room he's in that day. Being an ass, telling lies, and embarrassing the country with his ignorance about how the government runs, and how he should not be able to be sued in a court of law because Hillary was above the law, why shouldn't he be as well?

UGH!

Two weeks ago he was upbeat and excited about being extradited to the US. He got a deal for a greatly reduced sentence, something like two years, and then he could stay. Get a job.

I was just writing a piece of his first leak of Hillary's documents.

Edit: Well, I'd believe Snopes anytime over the Federal government.

Does anyone know why a hacker of the computers of US public servants was so happy about being extradited to another country, and why he was given a greatly reduced sentence and the ability to stay and get a job in the US?

Since when are convicted criminals imported to the US?

Psychopathy is not a political position, whether labeled 'conservatism', 'centrism' or 'left'.

A tin labeled 'coffee' may be a can of worms or pathology identified by a lack of empathy/willingness to harm others to achieve personal desires.

They have no choice. Otherwise it becomes a huge political liability.

They've already sold their souls. Some grovelling is nothing at this point.

Hillbilly Dem's picture

Hillary's position on TPP, her vote on the Iraq invasion, her vote(s) on the Patriot Act, $300,000 an hour speaking fees paid by Wall Street, her stance on fracking, "universal health care will never happen", etc, ....

then responding to the FBI Director Comey's confirmation of her reckless handling of top secret government data by cheering "She wasn't indicted!!" as if it's an absolution, is quite easy.
