Just want to express congratulations to c99p's third anniversary! Woohoo! My two-year anniversary here will come in March and I want to thank you wise folks for starting this refuge a full year before we knew we needed it!

I always love the history lesson, el. Happy birthday, today, to my best friend, Kathleen. Made it to 65!

Have a beautiful day, everyone! Pleasantry

We made it out of the terrible twos and on to three. Thanks to everyone who contributes to our little community.

Today we're due to climb into the 40's....a heat wave! I hope everyone is dealing well with the deep freeze that has blanketed the eastern US.

I posted Jimmy's piece in the weekly, but there's so much there it might get lost, so let me put in a plug for this clip that does such a good job showing how Americans are misled and misdirected by the media. Worth the watch and a nice piece to send to anyone you might know who watches CNN (26 min)

All the best to all of you!

Three years ago today, the dream that many of us had for some time finally became a reality! What started as an idea by our own Can't Stop the Macedonian Signal was finally realized as a fully functioning website, thanks in great part to JtC who volunteered to set up a website for us after an aborted attempt using an outside source. Prior to that, a group of us gathered as an email group and then later through a Google group. What we wanted is to have a site where we could discuss ideas and policy without being hampered by an organized political party as the middleman.

With JtC and joe shikspack ensuring the wheels run smoothly in the background, it is you, the users who provide content and commentary, that make C99 the great site that it is. Thank you to everyone who has donated, commented, and written here. Most folks on the outside predicted we would fold after a short while, but we are still going strong thanks to our members. I predict that 2018 will be a great year for the little site that could and you are the reason why. You all are awesome! Dirol

@gulfgal98
I have finally tracked down my confusion. The page went up on the 7th. The member list at that time was JtC. On the 19th, one additional member, the illustrious gulfgal98 showed up. More folks trickled in over the next few days (I got here on the 23rd), and on the 22nd, Johnny posted his "Welcome New Members" post that I keyed off of.

@enhydra lutris
was the first time I logged into c99p as admin when it was transferred from my local server to the remote server so technically that is the creation date. I then spent a couple of weeks tweaking and configuring the site before it was opened to the public.

The discrepancy between my UID as #1 and the next member, gulfgal98 UID #14, was due to several dummy accounts that were made to make sure the site was working correctly from a regular member point of view as an admin account is quite different from a regular account. The dummy accounts were deleted but they still take up UID numbers just as spam accounts do when they are deleted.

Anyway, Happy Anniversary to all!

@JtC JtC's launch. It was pure luck that I happened to be the first one (after JtC) to get on. Biggrin

@gulfgal98
at that time when I decide to learn the Drupal system and at least give it a go at creating a real blog as the forum wasn't really meeting the requirements that were all used to as bloggers.

It took about a month of hard work to learn Drupal and then a couple of more weeks to establish a blogging platform. I did that all on my local computer then after I was versed enough in the system I migrated it to a remote server, the same server that the forum was on.

After spending a couple of weeks configuring and tweaking it was time for some beta testing. First informed were the moderators from the forum and a few others. Then as it became usable the rest of the forum members were notified and I started linking to the site in my signature at DKos, mostly at Joe's Evening Blues.

And we still stand 3 years later.

...to write about in all your spare time. Wink

All joking aside, it might be nice to have a history of the place written by someone. I appreciate all that you do and the participation of the entire community. As we say in my crowd....hooray for us!

@Lookout
It'll be a 2 part series. Cant Stop the Macedonian Signal is doing the first part since her vision of an alternative site to DKos back in 2014 was the impetus for this site. After she is finished writing part one then I'll do part two as a follow up. The history of c99p goes beyond this site itself and to do it justice the whole story needs to be told.

Thanks. Happy 3rd

Pot industry frets, then shrugs off Sessions' new policy
LOL! Cannabis is the best anti-anxiety remedy I ever tried, no surprises.

He conceded that the action would have a "near-term chilling effect" on the industry's lobbying effort to compel banks and insurance companies to accept its business. Banks and insurance companies refuse to do business with cannabis companies because marijuana is illegal under federal law and most financial institutions are federally insured, forcing marijuana businesses to operate in cash.

RED ALERT bankers, lobbyists, and insurance companies oh my! (now I see rule of threes everywhere haha) Feeling hurts, call the wah-mbulance! Or just create ecotopia outside of SWIFT like the rest of the world is doing, I'd vote for that. CannaCoin? WestCoastCoin? Cover Canada to Baja why not.

Most of Seattle-based Privateer's $150 million in investments are in companies based outside the United States, and Moen conceded that Sessions' action Thursday would keep it that way for the short term because of regulatory uncertainty in the United States. Online news and marijuana information site Leafly is the firm's biggest U.S. investment.

By the look on his face, I think not.

Actually that insults poor morons. I posted this elsewhere but here it is again...

I would suggest his anti-pot stance is designed to make this statistic more extreme...
