Street Prophets: Sunday Brunch - A Hospital Delay and Photos

I would have put this up this morning being it is Sunday but yesterday afternoon I had a sudden seizure and ended up until 2:30 a.m. in the Emergency. They still aren't sure what happened. My arms and legs are massive purple bruises. My right side is agony. My lower lip swollen twice its size. I don't remember falling. Reid says I was unconscious on the floor and having problems breathing. I tried to push away the firefighters. The next thing I remember is the ambulance and it took several hours for me to remember most of the events of my life. I'm home and trying to figure out how to make it around the no driving for six months while being a caregiver. Any way this is today's All Day Brunch.

Different Angles: Street Prophets Sunday All Day Brunch

Welcome to Sunday Brunch. This is an open topic thread so help yourself to the goodies and sit a spell and let us know what is new with you. I have been in love with photography since I bought my first camera a Brownie Starlite when I was in my early teens. I have a Canon Rebel digital camera now and the great thing about it is that I can take hundreds of pictures at a time and try out different angles and views when taking pictures. I try and find different textures and backgrounds for my pictures. These are a few of my different pictures.

Alien Snow Plant.jpg
I call this alien snow plant. It was taken against a backdrop of snow.

Berries_0.jpg
When I go extreme close-up the camera will throw the background out of focus and concentrate on the foreground image.

Flowers and Concrete.jpg
I liked the contrast between the living flowers and the concrete road.

NC Small Pink Tree Blossoms 6 SS_0.jpg
By concentrating on the flowers close to me I got the focus in the background to be almost like a pastel wash.

Oak Leaf.jpg
I wanted to capture the color of the leaf against the concrete.

Pale Lavender Iris.jpg
This time I wanted the pale flower to contrast with the dark stems and leaves.

Plant Among Rocks.jpg
I was intrigued by the healthy plant growing through the rocks.

Plant in Concrete.jpg
This plant grew through a crack in the wall.

Sun Through Tulip_0.jpg
I took this picture so that the sun was shining through the tulip.

Very Monet_0.jpg
I call this picture Very Monet. The wind was blowing and caused an effect that is very much like a Monet painting.

Water Color Flower.jpg
I took this picture while pretty much flat on the ground. The sun shining through the flower gave it a watercolor effect.

Watercolor Rose_0.jpg
This is my favorite photo. The sun and focus makes this another watercolor picture.

It strikes me as symbolic for the Equality Movement, i.e., breaking through and growing!

Sorry to hear about your emergency, by the way.

Also, I thought "Street Prophets" was a DK group devoted to religion, given its name. I guess that's why I usually stayed away from it.

So sorry that happened. Have you had seizures like this before?
Some months back I fainted as a result of a bad med and ended up with injuries as a result. Quite the unpleasant experience.

They still need to do tests but they are leaning towards over stress from being a caregiver for 12 years. That and I have a bad tendency to take good care of my brother but not necessarily myself.

--which might be a Good Thing. While you are hospitalized, maybe even after, you could use their social support services to find some sort of affordable (I know) help. That is what they are there for! Make them work!

Good luck, best to Reid. And of course to you.

Hey! my dear friends or soon-to-be's, JtC could use the donations to keep this site functioning for those of us who can still see the life preserver or flotsam in the water.

Street Prophets is a varied group from atheists, ministers, shamans, and just plain folks. What we inspired to was civil discussion of all topics from all points of view. Those of us trying to weather through this political season are trying to provide a restful alternative such as picture diaries to help sooth from the heat of political nastiness. Ojibwa has just returned from Scotland and has been doing Scottish as well as Irish photo diaries from another trip. My artist friend Mark, who is American but lives in Czechoslovakia, does Friday night diaries showing photos of his adopted land. It is a varied lot over there but we try not to bludgeon anyone with religion. Being part Cherokee I usually read Ojibwa's diaries when he is talking about Native American beliefs. He had a great diary not to long ago about alcohol and Native Americans and AA.

I'm inclined toward Buddhism. Perhaps I will contribute more Buddhist thoughts and images in the future!

about your seizure and all the aftermath. I hope you will be able to cope with it. Thank you for not giving up and always stick to and write your Sunday brunch photo diaries. As you know it's the Zoo out there since a couple of days and everybody's mind is somewhere else. All the more kind of you and necessary to post your group's essays here as well.

I don't know if you know that I used to read ALL of Ojibwa's diaries in the earlier years and I tried hard to understand Navy Vet Terp's diaries about the Torah's teachings. Because both had so much to tell and teach, I finally bought all of Ojibwa's books and I had the honor and gracious invitation once to Navy Vet Terp's house. I can't get away from those encounters without getting a bunch of books to read. Sometimes it's the little sentences thrown in somewhere in a thread that stick to my mind. Navy Vet Terp said once backing it up with citing parts of the Torah that "to keep the peace, it's ok to lie". That amazed me and I swear one day I try to figure it out and try to really research it and make up my mind about it.

Now, I have to admit, I became a lousy, sometimes inappropriately bitter or silly or sarkastic blog reading news addict, and I actually hate myself for it. I still haven't given up on "changing" my lifestyle and hope one day I will arrive where I want to go.

Ojibwa had a dry humor and wit, which he seldom let shine through. I hope he is doing well.

Anyhow, I am a bit at a loss how I could help in this group, because I am under educated in all things religion and philosophy. With regards to all writings on TOP about native American issues, lately I got a bit tired about the mascot issue, but just in comparison to other issues that bothered my mind much more.

All the best for your recovery. I should say that I am a bad person in the sense that all essays, which reveal the many unbearable hardships of people with disabilities and how they don't get from the government's institutions the help they need, make me feel mad in addition of make me feel empathy. It always reminds me how bad things are around in this country. I just don't know how to "forget" about that aspect.

He is actually a shaman and blessed my quilt. He is one of my favorite people in the whole world. He is doing well now that he retired from teaching and doing a lot of traveling. We are doing a little teaching and a lot of photo diaries now. I've been too stressed to do much other than photos and art.

here. You think you could get his permission to cross post his diaries here?

Sarah gave her first quilt she ever made to my niece. My niece later died. And I handed the quilt over to Peregrine Kate when I met her years later. I don't know may be everybody doesn't like me anymore, because I am so 'critical' about glossing over issues for the sake of "getting along, being civil and kind". I had always difficulties to find the right balance between saying honestly what I think and trying to not be offensive. I am not good at it. But it's time to forget about the past and try again and start all over.

My niece just stopped by. She had picked up some medicine for us and dropped by a new keyboard since mine died on the main computer. She said it is a good thing I don't need to go out because of the bruises and swollen lip. She said I would have a hard time convincing anyone I wasn't a victim of violence.

IMO, every contribution helps the equality movement advance a little further...we might not even recognize the ways!

you well; hope you can take it easy for a while.

Also, hope that you can get some respite from your care giving, and that you can find someone to help you out (driving).

Thanks for today's post, and all the lovely photos!
