Notes:

SEIU has office space in downtown Cleveland close to convention that can be the base of operations and host the wrapped mobile RV.

Live-staged activities on-site:
* Jerry Springer “Live” fake show between Trump/Cruz/Kasich delegates - Jerry said he wanted to be involved
* Fake debate between Trump and Cruz
* Cleveland / Ohio delegation presser
* House Tri-Caucus chairs press conference (CBC, CHC, CAPAC) - plus women’s caucus, LGBT caucus

Off-site activities:
* Find a structurally-deficient bridge, have surrogates discuss how Republicans have fallen down on the job when it comes to infrastructure funding o Would need top-line surrogates for this - Anthony Foxx / Tom Perez
* Infiltrate friendly union hotels and properties around the convention that Republicans will be patronizing to distribute “care” packages
* Bracket Rob Portman’s “mini-convention”: http://www.bloomberg.com/politics/articles/2016-04-01/a-trump-buffer-por... o Get other Senators asked if they will boycott convention if Trump or Cruz is set to be the nominee
* Pick one day to have press conferences in every media market in Ohio. o Message: While the Rs might be having fun bribing each other in Cleveland, Democrats are focused on the needs of Ohioans across the state.
* Fast food worker strike around the city or just at franchises around convention.
* Voter registration drive Gimmicks to hand out:
* Bribe packages for delegates - “Cruz Cruises,” Trump steaks, Vodka, Water, etc., monopoly money, tickets to Trump’s failed USFL football team
* “That’s why you leave a little tip” envelopes - for Kasich’s comments about hotel workers - work with Hotel Trades on this
* Bottles of dirty water from Sebring, OH (had a lead crisis under Kasich’s watch a la Flint)
* Care packages for folks who will be sick after Trump / Cruz nomination - with single-serve Advil, Alka-Seltzer, Pepto Bismol, Vitamin C
* Reporter swag bag?
* Clothespins so delegates can hold their nose voting for Trump/Cruz
* Milk cartons with GOP faces - local Wisconsin farm Paid Media:
* Banner ads in the airport
* Billboards on the highway from the airport to Quicken Loans Arena
* Ads in restaurants and bars around town
* Have places doing “drink specials” Other ideas:
* See if any Cavaliers, Browns, or Indians players would be interested in bracketing
* WH / Administration ask - can they send any topline surrogates / cabinet secretaries?
* Send letters to major companies who are boycotting RNC that they can invest in DNC and not be embarrassed (can work in companies leaving GOP states over social policies like Indiana Religious Freedom Act and HB2 in North Carolina)
* Volunteers / interns in Trump costumes performing Trump things
* Concert / Rock the Vote

Wei piles on:

More Ohio ideas:
- Hold a presser on the climate change/the environment somewhere near the Cuyahoga River, calling attention to Trump’s vow to dismantle EPA - according to OH history- 11. The Cuyahoga River has caught on fire at least 13 times; it’s aptly nicknamed “The River That Caught Fire.” The river was one of the most polluted rivers in the country and would catch fire after sparks from the train would fall into the water. After a highly media-covered fire in 1969, Congress was inspired to clean up pollution across the country and established the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

- Hand out placards with Trump’s face superimposed on the World’s Largest Cuckoo Clock (housed in Sugarcreek, OH) http://www.roadsideamerica.com/story/11894

- Still fleshing this one out, Thomas Edison was born in Milan, OH. Hand out lightbulbs.. b/c the “lightbulb” hasn’t gone off yet with the GOP.. something like that..

More From Rachel Palermo:

* Host a Democratic Happy Hour: need a break from the racism and the misogyny? Come join the Democrats at a Happy Hour.
* Host Breakfast and serve Bailey’s and cereal
* Flyers or missing persons folder for Republicans who aren’t there
* Hand out masquerade masks for people who don’t want to be seen at the convention
* Stage a Jerry Springer show * Meet with the hotel trades, SEIU, and Fight for 15 about staging a strike
* Get liberal musicians involved (especially those from Ohio)
* Host a concert that contrasts the GOP, such as Concert for Harmony, Unity, or Diversity
* Utilize xAd for snapchat filters
* Host a fake president’s panel: where presidents in movies gather and show they are more qualified than Trump to be president
* Engage local radio
* Have a unity conference with Sanders surrogates (See if ODP will host)
* Hand out barf bags
* Host a Happy Hour/Safe space for women to get away from the GOP’s sexism and misogyny
* Use billboards or airport advertisements
* Hold signs in airports about Trump as people exit planes for free advertising
* Get Ohio athletes involved To do beforehand:
* Host a meeting with Ohio representatives at DNC to discuss plan
* Reach out to David Wilhelm (Mark)
* Brainstorm with Marketing Dept. over Trump
* Reach out to advocacy groups (women, afam, etc) to see who will have a presence
* See if we can use university spaces in Cleveland

SMH.

I loved the "fast-food worker strikes." LOL. Don't they get that you can't engineer things like that? They're all so freaking out of touch ...

These are Ivy League graduates who, if they ever were in touch with regular folks, apparently checked that at the door when they took these gigs.

Thomas Frank is correct - the Democratic Party is Of By and For Elites these days. The professional class. Anything else is an empty symbol public relations stunt.

If they 'got' reality, they'd have been Berning with the rest of us, not working against the global survival of life on the theory that they'll die rich and of old age before for-profit industrial/military pollution and destruction reduces the Earth's oxygen level to a level which distresses them. Under the assumption that they'll still be valued by Those Who Matter and not lumped in with the rest of us disposable non-billionaires to be drained and garbaged once no longer of use.

Yeah, in the short-term, while they're needed, they do well. But swimming with sharks/carrying scorpions across rivers isn't always smart or safe.

I'm sure Bill and Hillary relatively lived well while he was AG, Governor and President. Among other things, Hillary got a seat on the board of WalMart, a corporation headquartered in Arkansas, and a partnership at the Rose firm, which did a lot of business for the State of Arkansas. I don't know what a WalMart director made then, but I bet a partner at the Rose firm did much better than the Governor. However, all of that was a drop in the bucket compared with the millions a year they made once they nominally left government. Cantor, Lieberman, Dodd, Holder, Dean and many others are making much more now than when they had official positions. And who knows what jobs their wives and kids, etc. were given.

It was on CNN about an hour or so ago.

You can hear the panic in her voice it is trembling!

That is a normal tone when you have people in stressful situations or otherwise uncomfortable ones. For example, watch some interviews of regular people by the media, they all get that weird tone in their voice when they appear nervous about it.

I recognized it for what it was because I sounded like that in my first couple interviews with the media.

You can get rid of it with practice as you become comfortable and used to the idea of speaking with the media, that is unless tension or other powerful feelings overwhelm you, then it can come creeping right back.

I don't know for sure, it's possible she sounds like that all the time, I never listened to her speak before, but it sure sounds like it to me.

am assuming you mean DWS when you say "DNC CEO", right? Is there a link to her "statement"? I'm not seeing that at the link you have posted, there's an article there, but it's like the video there no longer exists (unless it's my browser, I've been having trouble with it lately).

Committee is the Rev. Leah D. Daughtry.

There is a video in the link I posted but couldn't embed the video because CNN makes it tough to do so.

Video is still there, may be a browser problem.

I went over and found it at youtube so I will embed it here now but only because it's you asking. Wink

that and "When's the last time Wikileaks didn't dump something on a Friday afternoon?" I can't dismiss them.

There's always wiggle room for those liars. But the lightning speed in which CNN decided to "cover", coupled with disclaimers that "we can't verify" (yeah, like they ever do) tells me it's real enough.

They are really in for a shitstorm at the convention after this.

I can see a sea of 1900+ PISSED Sanders Delegates already fuming from here. Smile

I am off to costco to buy a pallet of popcorn and a 55 gallon drum of fake movie theater butter and Red Bull.

I don't want to miss a minute of the escapades.

Lets just hope it doesn't turn into another song (ala' 4 dead in Ohio) because it is indeed quite possible of an outcome.

Philly isn't known for it's gentleness to begin with. These are people that used to bring D batteries to sporting events and hurl them at the other sides fans back in the day.

A good rule of thumb, don't stick your arm into a monkey cage and don't go to Philly and piss off the locals. Neither can end well. (And Philly has a LOT of locals that support Sanders.)

Not all progressives are Peaceniks, particularly not when provoked by things like this.

to load this one, but most MSM sites with videos take forever to load, if they don't crash my Internet. I don't know what they're doing wrong - I can watch videos with no problem here and Over There and at YouTube - but it's very frustrating. Too many ads and/or videos at once, I suspect. Perhaps autoplay is a problem too.

Anyway, I don't hear a tremble so much as a tightness, and it could just be she doesn't speak much in public. Interesting how she promptly refuses to answer the question though.

Nothing to see here, folks! Let's move along!

ROFLMAO Thanks for posting that here, where I could see it as well.

Yup, heard the trembling in her voice as she produced the sort of PR BS denial/evasion Clinton herself is so experienced in and which has conned so many people up till now - and been trotted out so many times for so many Clinton/DNC-initiated 'incidents' that it's a little hard for even the brainwashed among actual 'just voters' to keep the blind faith in their pathological corporate candidate atop her mountain of corruption.

I notice that there's also no mention in the clip of the CNN interview of proof of the the corporate media producing made-to-order stories, which is hardly surprising...

I agree the GOP ideas SHOULD be mocked, but I would prefer that this sort of tactic be done at a more grassroots level THIS IS ASTROTURFING and I tend to find that pretty reprehensible. Just as I find the DNC going after Bernie to be reprehensible.

If a CANDIDATE does some of these (like do a press conference by a polluted body of water), GREAT! That would make sense.
SOMEONE ought to do P.R. stunts like these, but the DNC represents the president and our entire political system, frankly, and I hate to see it sink to such childish tactics/gags as a part of how they do business.

Another classy example in a new essay: http://caucus99percent.com/content/hahahaha-dnc-not-only-lied-about-sand...

Women's caucus in Cleveland, pointing out polluted waters and the origins of the EPA, why not?

As I noted, I don't like the astroturf aspect of it either, they should identify themselves. But why couldn't the DNC sponsor care packages or even a roast? I think it's OK to have a sense of humor. Even desirable, and setting our side apart from the Repugs (although granted, they did nominate Trump - but that's a very sick sense of humor).

President Obama has done some pretty good zingers in his time. It's probably partly why he has fairly good approval ratings.
