Don't take it so seriously, Steven D
If you want to check out slur language, read the comments after this article. We sound all mild-mannered and angelic in comparison. I feel bad as a female, and embarrassed to what I perceive as male comments.

Sunny nice day, here in central NY, have a relaxing afternoon. The storm will pass. And good luck!
Hey! my dear friends or soon-to-be's, JtC could use the donations to keep this site functioning for those of us who can still see the life preserver or flotsam in the water.

Go out and enjoy it. Winter is coming.

Where in Central NY are you?
I grew up in the country, south of Little Falls.
The real SparkyGump has passed. It was an honor being your human.
W I think, Ithaca
in sub-urban country. 5 miles from town is sufficient.

Nice!

This is a beautiful and heartfelt video. I hope your break from
C99% is short-lived. You will be terribly missed. Thank you again for your contributions to this site. You are a treasure.
Don't believe everything you think.
I think you're right, we do have some form of PTSD
We've just seen our World turn on us which is traumatic. We're the prescients. We're the ones who saw how imperative it was that Bernie win the nomination. The rest of the Country are jackasses. Fighting ourselves is stupid. We need to start making the rest of the Country understand how badly they f**cked up. Especially those who actively worked against Bernie's nomination. F**k you Kos.
Beware the bullshit factories.

Steve, the knives were already unsheathed, sharpened and
pointed when you wrote about those ugly words. You didn't start anything. It was not your fault.
I hope your medical procedures go well, and that your recovery is speedy.

Please quit worrying and go enjoy the last
Beautiful day of summer. You did nothing wrong, and you are not responsible for anyone but yourself. If people acted like jerks, it won't be the first or last. C99 is about ideas. Some people haven't learned how to handle and respect the freedom.
Quit beating yourself up and go read a fun book in the sun.

Beautiful and heartfelt video, Steven
I hope you will be reading these comments here after posting it. You did not cause something to happen that was not already going to happen. I truly believe we are seeing some effects of a form of PTSD. There are times when I have felt it myself and I am pretty easy going. Being able to walk away helps me greatly, but not everyone has that luxury so we see people lash out. You should not bear the burden for other people's reactions. In the end, Caucus99 will be just fine.
Please take care of yourself. I hope your procedure goes well and you are able to rejoin us soon. We will miss you!

Do I hear the sound of guillotines being constructed?
“Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable." ~ President John F. Kennedy
Agree.
OK PTSD
Not sure what went down here, gg, but I do agree that adjustments are in order, and with them should come an understanding of the stresses that accompany that - looking toward the future - as well as those that came before, when we jumped ship and grabbed on to this little piece of flotsam (jetsom?) that is c99.
It's all an experiment, no? We are subject to our own internal and external forces, always striving for the best, always tolerating the reality. The danger in our experience is when we rationalize our behavior, IMHO. I see a lot of grief and anger - its almost all righteous! But "we must do this" and "we must do that" reminds me of the old PUMA clash, and in fact I have seen this behavior against Bernie, as we all have. Demonization is not the way. We know the transgressions of HRC. We know the shortcomings of the current political climate. It's frustrating!
But you know, as many have here and elsewhere (our beloved Steven D is exemplary of this) do, that we have had to find a way to deal. I have been reading history - this is my reflex - and I gotta tell ya, its not so bad to live in this time, in this place. So, I get perspective that way. Helps me deal.
But I will vote for Hillary, or not, as my conscience dictates. I don't have to push the issue further than what I know. Which is a lot!
Anger? Sure, I got it. But I have always believed that misplaced anger is one of the most evil forces in our daily lives. I call it the "kick the dog" syndrome. I don't know if it explains what is going on here, but it often does.
Bernie is a win-win.
Thankfully, I avoided the dogpiles, whatever they were
They would have given me a sad, so I'm relieved I missed out.
As much as I loathe the nominee, I do take issue with people using sexist language about her. Take her down on her merits not on cheap slams which take down womankind along with her. That's all I have to say on that subject.
* * *
The more important subject, however, is your having a healing event this week.
The only one I've listened to is the first, free one - he's pretty good (my qualifications for saying so are that I've had a fair number of major surgeries which scared the crap out of me as they got nearer, and that for a time I was certified as a hypnotherapist and my intention was to work with folks who were contending with health challenges).
This recording isn't specific to surgery, but it is a good relaxation piece which is an excellent preparation for an upcoming stressful event: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yBlWOJgiyGg The first 15 minutes is a good induction. The rest of the message is on other topics.
You can augment a tape like this by making a list of affirmations ahead of listening which you can remember and repeat to yourself while in a relaxed state.
These links all have a fee for their tapes (I'm familiar with some of Udemy's other offerings - they work with reputable people, but am unaware of the others):

It's definitely not your fault, Steven. Admittedly, I've missed
quite a bit of the uproar, but from what I've garnered, I would say that it's incumbent upon each and every individual who has coping issues as a result of the Dem Primary, to work them out--being careful not to displace, or project these feelings of confusion, anger, disappointment, disillusionment, etc., onto members of this Community.
Heck, I'm lucky, since I had totally different expectations, and haven't suffered a major let-down; my self-imposed 'scaling back' is because I'm flat-out tired of the ridiculous 'spectacle' that we're being subjected to (to quote Hedges), and need a breather from it.
Hey, you've done wonderful work here, and I'm very happy that you're giving yourself a well-deserved break to allow your body to heal. So, please, don't blame yourself for the anxiety or dysfunction that may be suffered by other members of the Community. We are all responsible for our own actions--not those of others.
Take good care . . .

Hey man...
people gonna' be people, not much you can do about that.
Get yourself well, my friend, we need you here.
Good Luck to You Next Wednesday and Beyond, Steven
I haven't closely followed everything you referenced in your video message, but give it a few days and I think it'll pass.
More importantly, take good care of yourself and we all hope that the medical procedures go well for you in coming days and weeks. Then, whenever you feel like it, come back refreshed 'n ready to go.
Thanks for everything you've done for caucus99percent and for keeping it sane, rational, and real on here.

Don't sweat it
You are someone I have read at Booman, GOS, and now here; someone I look up to and admire. That vlog you refer to is aok with me. It's who you are - a great person. You take care of yourself. I know you like binge watching; have you checked out Strange Things on Netflix? It's great. Or the Last Kingdom?, about the Vikings in Britain during the 700s. peace.
Yes
Just finished Strange Things a couple of weeks ago. Seemed like ET written by Stephen King lol. Liked it though.

Steve, I saw the subject matter from the titles & told myself I
was way too busy to read what was sure to ensue, at this time. However, still without reading a single line of any of that, I am sure it was about using vile language to demonize an opponent in a gristly ad hominem. Now if someone woke me from sleep and said (before I was full awake) "Steven D just had something serious to say about misogyny, ad hominems, etc.!!" My natural response would be to mutter, "Good! Ripped them a new one, did he? Tell me all when I wake up." So you couldn't have anything to apologize for at all, much less for more than 11 minutes.
I'm glad you did, though. I enjoy listening to you even when I think you're being unfair to yourself. I'm also mean enough to plan to use that whole tsimmis (still unread by me and intro'd to my 'victim' by your apology video) and the irony of the civilized and correct person making an apology, on the next a-hole here who even looks like they need a reminder of decent behavior when it comes to letting their inner oink fly, be it months from now.
Get better quickly, brother, and hurry back as soon as interacting here will help your health.
Please consider subscribing monthly, to help keep c99 going.
Steven D
You walked into the middle of a bar fight. You assumed you were there at the beginning. Nothing to apologize for. Please don't let this hurt you in the least. You make us a better place.
I'd like you to know that I have resolved to refrain from joining discussions on Bernie's behavior after his announced support of HRC. I am doing this as a way of expressing my gratitude for the contributions you make here. Anyone who has read my comments will assure you that this achievement, for which you deserve full credit, will far outweigh any slight damage caused by spin-offs from your video.
Please concentrate entirely on your health and the people you love.
thank you so much for your work
Here's hoping you procedure goes well - am sending good karma your way! Treat your "self" well. Return soon with renewed vigor.
Steve--
You stepped on a land mine. It's not your fault. You didn't mean any harm--and honestly, division is rife here, and everywhere, because of what just happened to us over the last few months.
Hopefully, we will hang together--if not we will hang separately, as someone once said.
