Sanders Challenges Clinton to NY Debate

Well! This is new, isn't it? Appearing on "Meet the Press", Sanders told Chuckles Todd:

“I would hope very much that as we go into New York state, Secretary Clinton’s home state, that we will have a debate – New York City or Upstate, wherever – on the important issues facing New York and, in fact, the country,”

Will she try to weasel out of it, or will she tell him to bring it on? After due reflection, if I had to proffer a wager, my money's on Mrs. Clinton's advisers telling her to put off a response as long as possible before even acknowledging the notion--and on her promptly ignoring it. I love that he's put this out there now, today, because The Establishment Media is in Ignore Mode, despite crushing Sanders primary blowouts in three western states. And you know she'll get that, and won't be able to resist shooting her mouth off.

What a way to force a conversation, lol!

And since I'm guessing I won't get anybody sued (least of all, myself Smile )

Damn, but I love that bird. Love him. Love Sanders reaction to it. Love that it happened. I'll believe to my dying day that bird was a sign from somewhere far, far bigger than any of us.

Happy Easter, my happy new family! I am glad you're here. Off to Easter Dinner now, but will be back later--may you all have a peaceful day Smile

But she won't agree.

So I hope to see Bernie at a rally somewhere in Western NY. Hope someone is organizing one for the Carrier Dome in Syracuse.

own rules (Hillary always manages to get more air time, not to mention the last word), thinks about debates in terms of $ / ratings / making 'news', and spins the results to favor the establishment candidate, it would be great to see a debate ANYWHERE without the establishment crew running the show.

We are on to their game but mire importantly, Bernie is on to it. This man is a fighter - he takes it to them - he doesn't back down.

remember how Obama, when Snowden revealed the depth of the NSA spying, said it was good because we could have a national discussion about it? And then he never mentioned it again? Except forced the Bolivian President's plane down because Snowden might have been on it? And remember how Obama said that Occupy was a good thing because we needed to talk about income inequality and then how he pushed for the TPP?

Well, sure, people who love Obama will like Hillary. They're both employees of the 1%.

The originally scheduled 6 DNC debates are over. When Hillary wanted a NH debate in Feb., Bernie agreed provided they add an April and May debate to the schedule as well (and I think the Flint debate was added at that time also). Bernie has always pushed for the location to be in NY for the April debate. Hillary wants it in Philly. Interesting that she does want to return to the state where she served as senator. Her record and service may have something to do with why she is pushing for another location.

“Until justice rolls down like water and righteousness like a mighty stream.”

New York votes on April 19. Pennsylvania votes a week later on April 26th. As long as the debate was held before the New York Primary and the Pennsylvania Primary, I don't see what difference it would make whether it's in Pennsylvania or New York. Are New Yorkers not going to watch a debate in Pennsylvania because it's not in their state?

The problem I would have is if Hillary wants to debate in Pennsylvania after New York has already voted but before Pennsylvania.

If the two choices are between Pennsylvania and New York, I think the date of the debate is a lot more important than the location.

Because the upcoming elections are in closed states, the more important scheduling consideration might be when voter registration closes in each state. Inspiring voters who cannot vote is not very effective.

Don't you mean " Interesting that she does not want to return to the state where she served as senator." ?

Her record and service may have something to do with why she is pushing for another location.

You think that maybe working-class New Yorkers may be on to her?

We have a new petition that another viewer has started. It’s to get a Democratic debate on The Young Turks. Cenk Uygur, Ana Kasparian, Jimmy Dore, and Jordan Chariton (TYT Politics), hosts of The Young Turks, break it down. Tell us what you think in the comment section below.

"This petition is to request the DNC to allow The Young Turks to host a debate between Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton. Having a media outlet NOT INFLUENCED by Corporate Money would show the rest of the Main Stream Media how to host a debate. Cenk Uygur, Ana Kasparian, Jimmy Dore and John Iadarola can go toe to toe with ANY MSM "Journalists."

We want to see a debate where Sanders and Clinton can be properly questioned about policy with appropriate followups. The Young Turks have a huge out reach online and it would be a great opportunity to discuss in depth issues that are important for the DNC and for the whole nation. Not much time left in the election process so lets try to get this done!”

Sign the petition here

(They're up to 111,755 supporters as of right now.)

In my junior high school days, the basketball team, if they were winning the game, would use the "Delay Offense" -- so as to take time off the clock, and play it safe. Pass the ball around, don't let the other team get it, let the clock run, delay, delay. Take as few chances as possible, don't risk trying to increase the score unless you have a sure shot.

It wasn't always popular in the stands. Most of the audience wanted to see true competition for as long as the clock was running, and many considered it unfair. Sometimes it backfired, too, especially when the other team was good enough.
