Aggressive, Iranian, terrorist forces attacked our brave, honest, and totally innocent troops that just happened to be in Syria at the time (nothing to see here).
So obviously our brave boys counter-attacked, because naked aggression cannot be tolerated.

The United States said Wednesday that although it "does not seek conflict with Iran," it will continue to "defend" its troops against Tehran-backed militias in Syria.

Three U.S. service members were injured in separate rocket attacks on two facilities housing American troops in northeastern Syria on Wednesday, prompting U.S. forces to respond, according to a statement from the U.S. military's Central Command.

Beginning at approximately 7:20 p.m. local time, several rockets landed inside the perimeter of Mission Support Site Conoco. Shortly after, more rockets landed in the vicinity of Mission Support Site Green Village. Both sites are located near large oil and gas fields in northeastern Syria.

There's a couple things slightly off about this story.
For starters, well, we attacked first. This was from yesterday.

The U.S. military said early Wednesday it carried out airstrikes in eastern Syria that targeted areas used by militias backed by Iran’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guard.

Opposition war monitor the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights and activist collective Deir Ezzor 24 said the airstrikes targeted the Ayash Camp run by the Fatimiyoun group made up of Shiite fighters from Afghanistan. The war monitor reported that at least six Syrian and foreign militants were killed in the airstrikes, while Deir Ezzor 24 reported 10 deaths.

Deir Ez-Zor is a strategic province that borders Iraq and contains oil fields. Iran-backed militia groups and Syrian forces control the area and have often been the target of Israeli war planes in previous strikes.

The British envoy to Syria absolutely gushed at Israel's bombing campaign of Syria that has killed thousands of people.
And then, of course, there is our ongoing pillaging of Syria's oil.

But the big item that is sometimes easy to forget is that this is an illegal occupation. Remember when Congress was going to debate our occupation of Syria, and then vote to make it legal? That never happened.
