Right now --

I'm willing to feel good about Bernie Sanders. Here's one of his press releases from April 2016:

Presumably in about three and a half months we get to see how the CIA candidates did. So that's the upcoming election. But yeah right now I'm okay with Bernie.

Me too.
We wanted decent healthcare, a living wage and free college.
The Democrats gave us Biden and war instead.
He did it --

Oh but,
Hillary raised 1.5 million to help the poor little children.
I'm not sure if this happened before or after she sent those kids back to their homes to get murdered.

Wow, thanks for the amazing article!
Have only made it through a few links so far but, as stated, wow and thanks!
Psychopathy is not a political position, whether labeled 'conservatism', 'centrism' or 'left'.
A tin labeled 'coffee' may be a can of worms or pathology identified by a lack of empathy/willingness to harm others to achieve personal desires.
Considering
how many lefties have been whacked over the years, he's doing what he can within the system. His latest call outs on imperialism and war have surprised me. Sudden heart attacks at his age, and all. . .

No doubt there will be other things...
Of course, the later vindication will of course not change the fact that at the time, anybody who believed it was a conspiracy theorist. Therefore at the time it Mattered, it was a conspiracy theory, and it only becomes acceptable to discuss after it makes no difference.
Which Is why 9/11 is still a Conspiracy Theory if you doubt the original story. We will not know the truth until it no longer has value to the MIC.
I do not pretend I know what I do not know.

Noticed that nobody can get at the direct evidence, did you? (I did!)

That's exactly what I appreciate about him ... his voice.
Great topic, Cassiodorus
There are two aspects of the immigration dialogue which have not been critically analyzed. A key factor to the immigration battle or disrupt-deport battle however you may conceive is the complete lack of the disconnect between two factors.
One factor of the disconnect is the emotional valence the simple omission of emphasis of who is trying to enter the country, their motives for change. Most migrants, and I know quite a few who are undocumented because of my former medical practice in agricultural Santa Barbara County, are here simply for and exclusively for a better life for themselves. I welcome them but they should be processed, identified, etc. just as any legal alien or visa holder is.
A large number of immigrants, in my opinion, are truly trying to enter the country for refugee status. This might be 9 or 10% of total entries. Of course a small number of out-and-out scoundrels will still slip in. After all, just look at Congress. Congress looks upon the 99ers as Aliens who have no business obstructing their view of the Potomac.
Sorry if this comment seems to be counter to the original intent of this essay, but it was the subject of the first link. I have a different opinion of Bernie, which is ok because I am probably only correct 50.1% of the time.
Bernie has been pretty consistent
through out his life. The democrats welcomed his support, but when in the house distanced themselves from him (crazy socialist commie) along with Barney Frank (Barney Fag, haha). I had always heard that "to change the system, you have to work within the system". Debbie Werewithher Schultz proved that was a crock. But you are 100% on his defining the running dog flunky democrat party by contrast. And when the media finally reports on something other than Trump, Bernie will be the last they'll report on, unless one of his candidates loses. One of politics tactics is to turn off voters from voting if they can't persuade them to vote for their guy. I hope the democrats don't succeed.
Thwack! Thank you sir, may I have another?
Right now. Wha-pow! That's better, okay now I'm feelin' it. Now I can follow the link from a moldy old press release to... Cillizza on CNN?
Bernie Sanders is the most important 2020 candidate
Bernie haz cake! I want some of what y'all are smokin', 'cause that shit is bananas. Hamster wheel retread, caucuses with Democrats, won't join the Greens already on the ballot, or even support "progressive" Ds who ran in the primaries. lol omfg jkmn
Now, now, now, just kill me now. Best words make a whole lotta money for the duopoly in electoral politics, in my view. That is all.
good luck
these days
I don't know about you, but...
Okay, so what was Bernie complaining about back in April of 2016? That's why the title of my diary is RIGHT NOW... I'm not denying any of Bernie's flaws...

The elephant in the room: 3rd Party NOW!
(Don't have even a minute here now, but wanted to at least drop this in).
Seems he's alluding to it, via Jane here.
There exists the best opportunity probably ever to destroy the duopoly. That is to completely challenge head-on, through Bernie, the corrupt and vicious two-party system. The citizenry is probably at its peak hatred of the system now, embodied by the last two horrible, deeply disliked candidates.
The jig is up. Bernie's best move would be to topple this thing, by the most popular elected official running against this system.

Yeah I read that Jane Sanders said this at the Left Forum.
The ruling classes need an extra party to make the rest of us feel as if we participate in democracy. That's what the Democrats are for. They make the US more durable than the Soviet Union was.
Every so called moderate Republican
that flees the GOP and joins the Democratic Party is just another blue dog to be purged.
I remember the way dailykos and the other neoliberals would embrace every one of these GOP refugees as if winning them over was some victory to be cheered. These refugees are the very suburban Republicans Chuck Schumer is recruiting and abandoning the FDR Dems to serve. This is just another example of why the current Democratic Party is the party of Reagan, and why we need a real peoples' party.
Bernie has done things I am disappointed in, and I hate lesser of evil voting. Bernie may not be perfect, but so far I'm not seeing any evil in the man. He is right more than he is wrong, and he always way ahead of the pack. This statement is just another example of why Bernie deserves our vote.

He's jumped on the bandwagon.
And I don't fault him for doing so. Perhaps he thinks this will be the issue that "Wakes America Up."
Sadly, it isn't. Trump talked about the Red Wave. Every single time the Democrats try to match the Rethugs in a power game they get outmaneuvered and we find ONE man standing against the tide. That is how the PTB remove threats. They Isolate, and eliminate.
Where are the other Democrats? Why should we stand for them? They aren't standing for Bernie. They won't stand for him. The people, sure, we might, but that will last only until Bernie explains how we MUST vote for the Democrats who certainly aren't doing anything for the people.
If he goes independent, great. As long as you don't hold your breath, I won't worry about your health.
I do not pretend I know what I do not know.
What does Bernie say about Assange?
protests all round the world this week.
you'd think Sanders could spare a few words.
did I miss that press release?
Bernie isn't anything close to being perfect.
The ruling classes need an extra party to make the rest of us feel as if we participate in democracy. That's what the Democrats are for. They make the US more durable than the Soviet Union was.
it is just so frustrating.
Bernie commands the attention of the world these days.
Think of the effect it would have if he visited Assange in London and conducted extensive interviews.
but Sanders just won't do it.
Throwing your arms around crying kids is easy.
Takes a bit more to give Assange a hearing.
We are in a lot of trouble.
Sanders continues to play it safe, when he might make a difference.
He is better than Feinstein, but is that good enough?
Do we give him a pass, or ask for more?
thanks. n/s
Bernie isn't much.
The ruling classes need an extra party to make the rest of us feel as if we participate in democracy. That's what the Democrats are for. They make the US more durable than the Soviet Union was.
Bernie can only do so much.
He is not our savior, he can't solve all of our problems for us. He is a US Senator and that is a full-time job. We really can't expect him to travel the world righting all the world's injustices. We can't expect him to go to Gaza, or Yemen or Ukraine or Venezuela, and fix things. He has already gone above and beyond as far as I'm concerned whether or not he runs for president in 2020. As for Assange, he's an Australian citizen. Maybe progressives in OZ should take up his cause.
We wanted decent healthcare, a living wage and free college.
The Democrats gave us Biden and war instead.
certainly agree.
I believe that is happening. There were demonstrations all over Australia this week. Caitlin Johnstone has writen about it. Aussie govt. officials visited him for the first time in six years.
However I think it is fair to say Assange would not be in the trouble he is in if not for the US government. The whole affair stems from US determination to silence Wikileaks. So I don't consider it another country's problem- it is our doing.
Senators travel the world all the time on "fact-finding missions."
If Bernie can't make it he could send a senior staff member.
Or he could send me. I'd be happy to go on his behalf to ask the tough questions.
I get the feeling Sanders won't touch this issue with a ten-foot pole, and it has nothing to do with lack of time. I would be happy to be wrong.
thx.
