glad to see that you guys are getting some snow. it went and got pretty cold here and looks like it's fixing to stay cold for awhile, i'm guessing you'll be getting the same cold front. happy skiing!
is dumping house size mounds of snow at these 11 degree temps tonight. Many of my clientele this time of year are South Americans; good that I speak a little Spanish.
Sadie , the young one, had to get in bed with me and sleep close for a few hours and Bruno cried when I left the other day {babysitting for friends} Bruno is the biggest lab mix you can find, closing 200 pounds and he's a baby.
Are you on the road? I need to find a place to stay in Knoxville for around two months for treatments near the end of March if all goes well with further tests this month, ruling out more complications. Reason being, Knoxville has the closest proton machine.
Enough of me; thanks for following the congress critters and their continued attempts to steal the hay day of citizen's lives; well steal, period.
Charles Kuralt is honored nearby on Grandfather Mountain. On the Road, I think of you.
on the Gulf Coast. I'm thinking that you were probably not around when I lost my older Brother in late August. Anyhoo, as a result, I have family business responsibilities galore (that I didn't have, previously) that will keep me out-of-state, for months to come.
Also, we've slowly begun the process of clearing the house, although we're still not sure of the disposition of it. If we decide to keep it as a residence, the homeowner's insurance policy will require that we spend quite a bit of time there. Our residency will also affect the property taxes, since the county/city gives tax breaks to homeowner/residents (as opposed to homeowners/non-residents).
I wasn't up to doing a whole lot with the house until late November. We've learned over the years not to make hasty decisions regarding major life changes, etc. So, we're playing it by ear, going ahead and clearing out a lot of stuff, but not making any (final) hasty decisions. I've got to do a bunch of research on stuff related taxes (of all kinds), the local and state social services offered, medical facilities in the area, etc., before we can decide what course to take.
I know next to nothing about Knoxville's medical facilities, but major medical complexes in Nashville often/usually have residences for out-of-towners that are funded by various Foundations. We've never been treated for cancer, but I know that Nashville's Saint Thomas and/or Vanderbilt University Medical Center have such lodging. I would check with the medical facility in Knoxville, or maybe even with your local oncologist's office.
None of our immediate family members--not counting extended--have ever suffered from cancer, or Alzheimer's (fingers crossed). Both Mothers spent a short period of time in a nursing home, or nursing facility--but only for physical therapy after a fall/broken bone.
Hey, I was going to post Islands In A Stream by Parton and Rogers, but for some reason, it didn't work. May have to subscribe to be able to copy and paste it. If I can find another version, I'll drop by later, and post it. It's my favorite country (or, country pop) song.
Take good care, now.

(Acrually, it was through this that I became a big fan of Iris DeMent, and was thrilled when her lovely song, "Let the Mystery Be" was used as the theme song for the second season of HBO's The Leftovers.)

They also, every time, play some or another version of this:

cool, good song...
Three Penny, know well, how bout, The Good Woman of Setzuan,"
maybe Bernie's folks could use the working theme?
on the fifth play, now, the lyrics....
reach; good, simply good and spot on, cheers again.
this version
unfortunately amputates the first couple lines, which are:
I got rice cooking in the microwave
I got a three day beard, I don't plan to shave
I dunno. It's helped me, many a Saturday, to keep on keepin' on. Because it's true.
Cheers to you, my friend.

I needed this reprise ~ cheers.
Very nice tune, Smiley. Don't know
much about country music, but at least I've heard of John Prine.
Sorta odd, considering my DKos handle includes 'Music City' (meaning, Nashville).
Of course, it was part of our dear Miniature Schnauzer's name, because we got her in Nashville.
Hope your treatment is going well. Stay warm!

I feel as though I've neglected you; forgive me.

Hey, no problem, Smiley. Yes, we're mostly

One of my favorites too, plus...
How can you go wrong with Prine and DeMent?
(Acrually, it was through this that I became a big fan of Iris DeMent, and was thrilled when her lovely song, "Let the Mystery Be" was used as the theme song for the second season of HBO's The Leftovers.)
From that same John Prine cd and live set:

and the lyrics, poetry of today, spot on in many ways.
