Psychopaths have this dream that they would like to govern...
When we are asked to support/vote for "the lesser of two evils", we are no longer living in a democracy, we are living in a pathocracy, a system ruled by psychopaths whose evil (murder, genocide, economic and environmental collapse) and power is limitless. Please watch the video.

“Likeable”, “Charming”, “Intelligent”, “Impressive”, “Confidence-inspiring," to her victims, but...
"... the super-sophisticated modern crook who does know what she is doing and does it so well that no one else knows. Yes, psychopaths love the business world. The costume for the new 'masked sanity' of a psychopath is just as likely to be a pantsuit as a ski mask and a gun."
"... consequences that would fill the ordinary person with shame, self-loathing, and embarrassment simply do not affect the psychopath at all. What to others would be a horror or a disaster is to the psychopath merely a fleeting inconvenience."
Clips from Political Ponerology -- A science on the nature of evil adjusted for political purposes. Translated in 1985 from the original Polish Ponerologia Polityczna
Ponerology. Definition. a branch of theology dealing with the doctrine of evil. "Political Ponerology is a study of the founders and supporters of oppressive political regimes."
Pathocracy. Definition: A system of government created by a small pathological minority that takes control over a society of normal people. Reposted from commentary on another essay. I have included a short video which clearly outlines the pathologies we face or have faced from govenments. This is not a right (or left) wing conspiracy thoery, but a perfect description of the reality I saw in Bolivian history, and see in the American process for the past five decades...

Love the term pathocracy! That is exactly what it feels like.
I wish the video had more of the history. Pathocracy didn't start with Obama and Clinton.

America is a nation of slaves. We enslaved those who were here for our own enslavement.
American Slaves drive cars and have lots of toys to amuse themselves with. But do we have anything? We own debt. We work to pay off debt. We work to survive. We are slaves.

fighting the "Ownership Society" framing from W.
The only thing we own is our debt and some plastic shit. And before you go talking about your car or your home... are they paid off? 'Cuz, if not, then the bank owns those.
Good comment, Janet.

Small quibble with the title
They don't want to govern, they want to run things: to control people and things.
Governing has a different set of objectives.
That is all.
'What we are left with is an agency mandated to ensure transparency and disclosure that is actually working to keep the public in the dark' - Ann M. Ravel, former FEC member
The true meaning of "governing" IS control
That control can be done for ill or good. Think of a speed governor on your car--it CONTROLS the speed of your car. So for better or worse (and lately it's been getting much worse) you have a choice: governing or anarchy. If you chose anarchy, that is a very dangerous path. There are two ways at least to govern. One is authoritarian, the direction of which we are progressively pursuing and which will only get worse with either of the two psychopathic main candidates for president. The other form of government is representational--of the people, not of the corporatocracy. There are different sorts of representational governance. What works best for a society is constrained by numerous factors--a topic too complicated for a brief comment in an essay.
