Progressive Voting Guide 2016
I have just started work on this project this morning. My goal is first to find a list of all of the candidates for public office everywhere in Texas. That list may be too big if I include all local elections! Next, develop a criteria for ranking progressive policy positions. Then I suppose I will need to find their voting records and/or public statements on these issues. Since this is Texas, I also plan to have a "do they follow Jesus" rubric. Because most of these loudmouths who call themselves "christians" don't actually follow what Jesus said and did.
This might be insane, but I would really like to create a movement to register write-in candidates where no progressive choice exists. In Texas, the month of August is designated as write-in candidate sign-up season.
I am using Moodle as my content management system. It is designed for education and I used it for many years as a teacher. Conceivably, if someone from another state wanted to use this site to do the same thing, I could just add it as another "course" and give that person "teacher" status.
Currently it is sitting at http://vote.ourdyslexicchildren.org I already own webhosting rights for ourdyslexicchildren.org so it didn't cost me anything extra. I could transfer it to vote.usnewviews.com since I own that domain next month if I want. Don't know.
Let me know if any of you wish to participate in some way.

Great idea
But a huge amount of work. If we really had precinct captains that were not machine folk it might be parceled out to people in various districts. It might be worth while doing that anyway because of the filter affect. People always view things from their own personal filter and the more eyes the more rich and textured the information.

I am going to start small
with those who directly affect me . . . and work out from there. We'll see.

I think its a great idea
I've always been amazed at how difficult it is to get info about the candidates in local and state races. I've always like the idea of a ballot with a paragraph from each candidate explaining their positions and reasons for running.
