Panama Papers and Global Corruption

Many readers are already aware of the the new internet leak (aka info dump) from Wikileaks. This revelation is even more weighty than Edward Snowden's whistleblowing on NSA spying--no mean feat. The information revealed is sourced from Mossack-Fonseca, a single law firm based in one country, Panama--hence the title of this breaking story. Originally the leak was reported to have contained about 1+ terabytes of information. Now the count is 2.6 Terabytes (and possibly more as the investigation continues). That is one massive data collection, dwarfing the leaks from NSA spying revealed by Edward Snowden by a long shot. Deciphering this treasure trove of corruption is going to require years of sleuthing.

To see more about this interactive map will reveal the enormity and expansiveness of this collective web of laundering, tax evasion, and bribery, etc.

At present, with only a small proportion of information digested, the United States' contingent has been accountable for only a small portion of this financial collusion. Taken from the interactive map cited above, for the U.S.A. alone, the involvement alone consists of:
companies 3072
clients 441
beneficiaries 211
shareholders 3467

Compared to statistics of involvement of other countries, this is a middling participation.

Yet, many of you, like me, may be wondering if Bill and Hillary are involved in this. It would not be out of character for them to be so. Is the Clinton Global Initiative one of the beneficiaries? I don't know. Suspicions, yes but no facts yet. Of course if the Clintons were directly asked about their participation directly or indirectly in this massive offshore corruption, and if they answered truthfully (two big IFs) what would we learn? Pay to play? Arms deals? Foreign influence in domestic policies? This is a whole new battlefield--one which probably won't be fully contested for years. As many people of all political persuasions, highly distrust the Clintons (counting myself amongst them), the suspicion certainly is aroused. HRC's dealing with lobbyists reveals an inordinate amount of access that we peasants to do not possess. Perhaps this also suggests that "pot sweeteners" promoting such access has been hidden in offshore accounts.

I realize that the above comments seem like National Enquirer stuff as there is as yet no factual basis to tie the Clintons to any of this offshore malevolent hide-the-money scheme. But it does raise reasonable investigation of Clinton Global Initiative (a multi-billion dollar enterprise) or the Clintons-cum-entourage.

Time will tell. If HRC is elected President, the revelations will probably come too late to affect her candidacy.

Yes, this is very inflammatory post backed with little evidence. But the questions raised are worthy of consideration. I welcome comments.

Never before in our country have we had a SexState who leveraged her office to such a degree in order to procure great personal wealth.

Even the rapscallions on the Tea Pot Dome fraud cannot come close. Albert Fall, the secretary of the interior faced a brave new world. In 1922, the navy had completed its shift from coal power to fuel oil. To insure adequate supplies, congress designated three large oil fields as the dedicate sources for US Naval fuel oil.

Fall saw an opportunity and ran with it. Over the span of a year, he sold the rights to oil extraction to each field to three separate companies - all non-bid contracts, and all substantially below the market value for crude. The deals made those three companies even more enormously wealthy. In the process, Sec. Fall earned about $7,000,000 in bribes, (that is in today's money, not 1922's value) about $ 1.1 mill. of which was in the form of an interest free loan.

He was found out because of a private email server in his bathroom closet, which contained details of the bribes and the secret information he used to benefit himself.

OKay, you caught me. He had no email server in 1922. But like the 33,000 deleted emails to the Foundation, Sidney Blumenthal and Huma, Fall kept destroying evidence and covering up his crimes. When the investigation was about to close, in an event that resembled Hillary's day long interview by Trey Gowdy, the details of the loan came out and Fall was toast.

The similarity of what Hillary did with the Saudis, Honduras, and Haiti are strikingly similar to Fall's crimes. The biggest difference? The scope of Hillary's misuse of office are on a far greater scale than Fall's. His total bribes were $5.9 mill, plus that $1.1 mil loan (again in TODAY'S money)
While Hillary has earned far more since leaving office.

John Podesta, Hillary's campaign chair, is in deep with Russians and Saudis.

Still shocked that this fails to get any real US coverage at all.

So, depending on your definition of "is," there is coverage in the media.

No need to go to Panama, just create a shell company here in the States and you can hide money here.

In fact the CIA probably leaked the Panama paper to smear others.

The tentacles of the corporations wind invisibly around the world and creep into our lives. Rarely is the light turned on.
