OT WE 28 JAN 26 ~ Another day in paradise

Today I am focusing on ICE (and snow). Elements in evidence currently.
Found this interview with an organizer from MSP which has some keen
suggestions to resist ICE.
For all these three companies (Hilton, Enterprise, and Home Depot) the demands are clear:
stop housing them, stop renting them cars, stop letting them stage from your locations, and stop letting ICE into your workplaces.
This is an organic community based resistance movement. Seems to be having an effect.
The Chief of operations has been sent packing (scary looking dude) and Trump has sent
some suit to deal with it from Washington. The damage has been done. Cover-up and spin
are their tools now. We have the evidence from folk reporters, so they will only dig a deeper
hole in the snow drifts surrounding them. Really wish congress would defund this gestapo.

So take a deep breath and venture forth into OT land.

Good morning...
It is a heat wave this AM...27F...warmest morning in awhile. None the less, back to the teens this weekend with possible snow.
The new US gestapo (ICE) is a bad look, and Trump's disapproval now is over 50%.
Doesn't look good for him in the mid-terms. If he strikes Iran, my guess is it will be even worse.
Love the beach shot! Thanks for the OT!

Just NASA doing landings without wheels.

Brings back memories
When EL went through a geography lesson on El Centro yesterday, I thought of NAS Fallon, a memory I cannot shake after decades because a friend died there in a terrible crash.
This photo of the NASA crash landing isn't as bad, only reminds me of a similar one I saw at home base. The pilot was extremely skilled landing wheels up, because the gear wouldn't lock in the down position. Saved the aircraft, emerged without a scratch.
Thanks for your Elmore James thread yesterday. Thought you might be interested in this link:

Hey Soryang, gotta love Fallon (town of), our favorite
gate way to the Basin and Range country. North and East over Carson Pass to 395 to 50 and overnight, maybe even two nights, in Fallon, top up the petrol and then romp on out 50 through absolute nowhere. Some fun non-designated historic zones in Fallon.

I liked the area too EL
It was only my second time out west, I had been in Denver for a few months a year or two before that. I was always excited to get a load out west when I was driving OTR. It wasn't often, maybe only 8 or 9 times. Driving through the Rockies or through the southwest to get to CA was always an experience.

That poor
WB-57F... NASA only had 3 of them prior to this, and they are long, long out of production (last built in 1957). The pilot did a masterful job of greasing it onto the runway, and I'm extremely glad that the crew was completely unharmed. So that may not represent a hull loss- but that airframe will be down for a long while, even if it is eventually salvageable. They'll probably have to go pull another donor airframe out of the boneyard and start essentially from scratch, with the associated costs and delays.
These aircraft really are very valuable for weather observation ops, and have paid for themselves a few times over. Along with the Hurricane Hunter C-130s and P-3s, they are weather workhorses for both NASA and the NOAA...
So, the Cheeto will probably just have his minions scrap it. He doesn't believe in weather ops, in any case, so undoubtedly he'd rather spend the money he doesn't have on his new big war that nobody needs.

Hola QMS, What's wrong with that pic?
Lots - it is a Martin B57 Canberra, a license built copy of a Brit. bomber that was he first ever US jet powered bomber to actually drop bombs in combat, in Vietnam to be precise. In short everything about it is wrong.

Heh, I believe that that specific tactic was first used
in Berkeley, CA on Bancroft Avenue in the mid sixties. Took everybody by surprise, as I recall.

Everything old
is new again.
"Two dead in Wis-con-sin..."
So far. Won't be long before they just start running over the protestors wholesale, and piling the bodies up with the other debris using their bulldozers, in the modern IDF-approved style. Lots of precedent there as well, from Berkeley to Occupy Wall Street. The normalization of the ultraviolent and the megaoverkill proceeds apace.
Not a fan.

Your CNC and 3D Printers
are belong to us...
Heads up for Washingtonians, New Yorkers in particular - and anyone else that feels they're surveilled and regulated more than enough already...
The state(s) (Washington, at the moment, others not far behind) wants to vet 3D printers, CNC machining equipment and conceivably more with software to ensure that you're not making homemade guns, or whatever else they end up deciding they don't want to allow you to create with them.
Ahh, the joys
of lawmaking-without-understanding. If they really want to vet every single goddamned CNC file *no matter the application*, they have seriously underestimated the time and manpower that will be involved: many industries depend upon 3D printing and even more heavily upon CNC manufacturing of literally millions of items.
That is, if they even thought about the impact at all. This is performative bullshit, simply because a) it is the ultimate needle-in-a-haystack hunt, b) the average home stuffmaker who is printing ghost guns won't comply, and c) industrial/professional users who *aren't* making ghost guns won't comply either- the cost of compliance will be astronomical, not to mention the unwillingness of letting Da Gummint go feed all that corporate IP and know-how to their AI filters.
I have a gigabyte or so of 3D print files I've used to make prototype parts and/or 1-off fixturing parts in my professional setting, and I'm not even a heavy user. This is utterly mind-boggling, and utterly asinine, at the same time.
Idiots. How to not achieve a goal, writ large.

Good morning Cap'n Q, et. al. It appears that J. Edgar Patel
is now investigating and no doubt building dossiers on those who criticize, track and report on ICE's storm-troopers. At least he's being overt about it, the real Jedgar, his apparent role model, did that shit clandestinely.
Meanwhile, Hermann Noem is blaming shit on Heinrich
MüllerMiller and he on her, something about multiple vipers in a box.Modereate temps here today and plenty much to do so be well and have a good one

Good afternoon, Cap'n!
So, if one criticizes Israel, they are antisemitic.
If one criticizes our current administration, note Trump’s 2025 National Security Presidential Memorandum NSPM-7 that suggests anyone objecting to the administration’s policies is a domestic terrorist.
sigh...
Have a nice evening, friend, and thanks for the OT.
