German nationals urged to leave Ukraine

Germany's Foreign Ministry advised its citizens to leave Ukraine on Saturday after it said a conflict in the region "cannot be excluded" while fears remain that Russia plans to invade its neighbor.

The ministry also said it was closing its consulate in Donetsk, in the east of Ukraine.

Would be interested in the German press and citizenry response. You are close enough to the border to have to possibly have an immediate impact with refugees, possible NATO related complications and US forces staged at American bases in Germany.

Ironically we are also concerned with activities in a close by nation and activities on a shared border.

I bet you most Germans have to look up eactly where the border is. As a general rule of thumbs I would say the Germans reaction is the same as the American Democrats reaction. They don't think much for themselves, unless ... hmm, ...

Sure we have a lot of refugees, but they are not from the Ukraine or Belarus area, afaik. Possible NATO related complications? oh sure, we have it, but nobody talks about it. if at all, it is all hush, hushl We are just too scared to get in trouble with Uncle Sam. US forces staged at American bases in Germany in my vicinity? No, I am in the northern part of Germany, American bases are not here. I would have to rely on what I read in the press.

all in all I would say the German press is a little less breathing hot air monsters. But that's all, but they breath cool air. And mostly they don't breathe much. Wink

I am sorry I can't do better.

Searched for good maps to show where Hamburg Germany is located in relation to the Ukrains. Noen of the ones I found were larged enough to visualize the distances.

Hereabouts (Colorado Springs, Colorado USA), our TV news is all Ukraine, Ukraine, Ukraine !!
It's enough to give anyone sane a migraine!

I don't. If I wanted to, I can flip to all TV channels there are. If at all, I wathch üublic German TV. Lately I just watch their crime stories and gossip celebrity news for five minutes a day and then shut down all of it.

I am an uneducated person for a reason. Smile

Lemme know, when the war is coming. I can't miss that one, biggest crime and news story to come.
