Incoming Mayor Jim Kenney has denounced the Mummers group Finnegan's Wake for its attack on the transgender community...and specifically Kaitlyn Jenner.

Kenney called the signs carried "bad" and "hurtful" and said that the Philadelphia transgender community did not deserve "that form of satire."

Earlier this year, organizers of the Mummers Parade announced a new push to diversify their event and be more inclusive after some had criticized the parade for offensive performances and costumes.

About a hundred demonstrators rallied outside City Hall yesterday to protest the parade's racist undertones.

The mummers parade has historically been a racist, white parade.

The protestors called for ending police brutality, raising wages for fast food workers, and ending the racism inherent in the parade.

The mummers, as a historic institution, has done nothing but make a mockery of minorities.
