Jill Stein defies Senate "overbroad" document request
Jill Stein finally stood up to this McCarthyist witchhunt.
The Jill Stein campaign is refusing to comply fully with a Senate intelligence committee request for documents and other correspondence, made as part of the committee’s probe into Russian activities in the 2016 election, according to a letter to be delivered Thursday to the panel by an attorney for the campaign. The Green Party campaign will agree to turn over some documents, but raised constitutional objections to the breadth of the inquiry, which was first made in November 2017, arguing that elements of it infringe on basic political rights enshrined in the First Amendment.
In the letter responding to committee chair Richard Burr, R-N.C., and ranking member Mark Warner, D-Va., Stein’s campaign has now said it will refuse some of the requests, calling them “so overbroad in reach as to demand constitutionally protected materials.”
I'm personally waiting for someone to accuse Stein of being the one to pee on Trump, while Putin took photos.
The request also calls for “all communications with Russian persons, or representatives of Russian government, media, or business interests, including but not limited to any communications, discussions, or offers related to opposition research, from February 6, 2015 to the present.”Stein’s campaign told The Intercept that they have already provided to the committee all communications with people affiliated with the Russian government and Russian media, but not with all people of Russian descent.
In the view of the Stein campaign, this is a request that unfairly puts all people of Russian descent under suspicion.
Oh, shit. I know people of Russian descent.
I better get a lawyer.
Give 'em Hell, Jill.

I feel vindicated once again.
I voted green in 2016.
This is not only broad overreach, it stinks of McCarthyism.
The Salem Witch Trials also come to mind being a pagan as I am.

Good for her!
It's past time for someone to say enough! Enough of this effingly stupid Russia Gate! There has been so much information that shows that it was made up by Hillary Clinton after the DNC computer files were placed online. Wikileaks released her email between her and Podesta where she admits that they could be a problem for her campaign.
Won't someone ask the democrats if they have any decency? This McCarthyism has gone on long enough, hasn't it? Oh well, it keeps the democrats looking busy since they aren't going to try to work on issues that we're begging them for.
The Washington Generals should probably sue the Democrats for copyright infringement.
Seems to me they doubled down with their suit
...and would rather combat a free and open press in order to distract from their blatant rigging of elections themselves.
I find politics a hopeless endeavor. Elections between oligarchs to see which corporations have dominate control. I'll keep voting for people like Jill, but it does not accomplish much.

We wanted decent healthcare, a living wage and free college.
The Democrats gave us Biden and war instead.
As far as we can see,
because the evidence supporting the assessment that Russia attacked our democracy is classified, there is no crime. All we have is this part of the de-classified report to the people:
I have a difficult time understanding what Jill Stein or anyone else called upon to supply documents would be required to supply. Documents in relation to what? I get it that Mueller et al suggests there's a crime, but if they can't publish evidence, doesn't that open everyone in the country to such requirements related to anything the intelligence community assesses?
