will suddenly feel the urge to take me to the pub for a very stiff drink.

However, my towels are clean, so if I leave the house, I am all set.

Random two words that I pointed to on my Hitchhiker's refrigerator Magnets...

"Zaphod OUT!"

@enhydra lutris
warts all over my hands--from catching fogs, maybe--anyways, i learned from somewhere that if you stole a dish towel, the warts would go away. Of course, this was before my Uncle Graham trusted me in sharing the wisdom of blowing fire and removing warts.

Hope this explains everything. Smile

@Anja Geitz back in the 1950s and early '60s, one of my chores was to hang the clothes on the line in our suburban backyard.

Nowadays, in many places, it's against the law to use a clothesline in your yard. Offends the refined sensibilities of the gentrified and suburbanized.

Of course, in many places nowadays, there are no backyards, or front yards, or side yards. Just big houses, crammed in as closely together as possible to maximize the profits to the developers.

@Centaurea would wait until Mom pinned a towel to the line, then Tar would bite it, yank it down.
Nobody would punish Tar. We sort of distracted her by feed and treats.
If nothing else worked, we let her in the house to watch tv.
Yes. Burro in the house. Watching tv.

@Centaurea Tar loved it! I could ride her to the grocery store, and buy her a bottled Coke. She could drink it without spilling a drop.
I have an oil painting of her at the store, entitled "Waiting for....on the cusp"
Tar was the featured live Nativity Scene Christmas display, and of all the dogs, cats, horses, frogs, fish I ever had, it is Tar who tops them all for my heart.
My parents went to Mexico to get her, leaving me and my brother with teen aged cousins for a couple of days.
That was the only time in my life I had a baby sitter.

In some locales those restrictions have been slapped down by the courts, even where they are in the CC&Rs and hence "agreed to". We have our "solar activated linear clothes dryer" under a patio cover so we can use it rain or shine.

one of my chores was to hang the clothes on the line in our suburban backyard.

When I lived in Florence back in the mid 1980's, practically everyone hung their clothes on the line. Especially bed linen. I can remember how fresh the bed sheets smelled after being air dried. I think I even slept better.

@Anja Geitz Wooden clothespins. I'm trying to remember when they started making plastic clothespins. Sometime in the '60s, maybe?
