It makes one wonder
how the war on Ukraine is going to end.
Apparently the "alternative" media still haven't let go of Seymour Hersh's story of how the US allegedly took out the Nord Stream pipeline. Today's Democracy Now has an interview of Seymour Hersh:
In responding to Sam Husseini, Administration mouthpiece Ned Price seems pretty categorical in his dismissal of Seymour Hersh. The segment starts at 21:53 of the video. Since it's complete nonsense, he appears to argue, why should we bother? Well, the White House story of how Russia supposedly blew up its own pipeline looks pretty shaky, and the Hersh story (from a single, anonymous source, however, but also dated today) looks pretty detailed. The Jacobin interview has a discussion of the copious details, which are on the original Substack post.
Also interesting is the side-story, of how this thing is going to end. As I've pointed out before, the US goes into these wars attempting to waste the maximum amount of time possible. So for instance the efforts in Vietnam, or Iraq, or Afghanistan, which the State Department knew was a failure long, long before its end was negotiated. The point is not to win anything but rather to maximize corporate profit. Hersh seems to think that a portion of Europe will leave NATO, or that it's a question of "how many more people Zelensky wants to kill of his own people." This quote is at 13:35 or so. And then you have this interesting quote in the NLR interview with Seymour Hersh, conducted by Alexander Zevin, also released today:
At some point, for economic reasons, Scholz may well have said: I’m out of the game – Ukraine can have a couple more German tanks, but I’m opening up the gas because I’ve got to keep my people warm and keep businesses going. But by putting an end to Nord Stream, Biden took that option off the table. And at that point, if you were a rational person working within the US state, you would say to yourself, this guy has made a choice that’s going to really hurt him in the long run. This kind of action might make it impossible for America to maintain its influence in Western Europe. Because with energy prices skyrocketing, and with little being done to ameliorate the decline in living standards, you’re going to see the far right gaining popularity across various countries.
Certainly their economies will take a hit, but I suppose that time will tell if Hersh is exaggerating or not. At any rate, it just seems as if the Biden administration has had to bully a great number of foreign nations into going along with a war with diminishing returns. Well, they aren't diminishing for the owners of Raytheon, but otherwise they are. How long is that going to last?

Hersh may not have gotten all the details right, but the key is, we did it, we helped, we organized, we provided material assistance, for an act of international terrorism. And are dead silent. There is no whodunnit for them, because why?
