It Keeps Getting Worse: Email Shows DNC Planning to Give Federal Appointments to Big Time Donors

In what might be the most damning leaked email so far, it seems clear that top ranking members of the DNC were asking for names of big time donors who wanted to be considered for Federal appointments, all while leaving an email trail to boot.

This is really no surprise. Both sides do it but that is no defense. It's unethical and probably illegal. It's how we got Bush's buddy "heckuva job Brownie" in charge of FEMA's awful response to Katrina.

It's not like we didn't know this kind of shit went on. But the absolute crassness is really astounding:

The donor spreadsheet is included in an email chain in which Jordan Kaplan, DNC’s national finance director, asks other officials to provide names of donors they want to propose for federal commissions.

“Last call for boards and commissions,” Kaplan wrote on April 20.

“If you have someone, send to [DNC finance chief of staff Scott] Comer – full name, city, state, email and phone number. Send as many as you want, just don’t know how many people will get to.”

Last call! Federal appointments happy hour is ending! Get your federal appointments while they last!

But hey, lest we think this is all untoward, let's make it clear that it will be really tough to get those really prestigious appointments:

“Boards and commissions? Sorry, I’m lost,” wrote Jordan Vaughn, the national finance director for the DNC’s African American Leadership Council.

Comer explained: “Any folks who you’d like to be considered to be on the board of (for example) USPS, NEA, NEH. Basically anyone who has a niche interest and might like to serve on the board of one of these orgs.”

“I should say, though, that the likelihood of landing a spot on ones as prestigious as NEA/USPS is unlikely,” Comer added, referring to the National Endowment for the Arts and the U.S. Postal Service.

“It’s much more likely they’ll get something like ‘President’s Commission on the Celebration of Women in American History.’ (no shade to women) But when you submit your names, we don’t need specific designations,” he continued.

I really thought we couldn't put on a worse convention than the GOP did in Cleveland (though I did think Trump's speech was way more effective than the media did, and it seems I was right about that). But give Democrats the opportunity and we'll screw up anything...

Oh, and just in case you were wondering, all donors on the list were Clinton donors. No Sanders donors. And here I thought my $10/month plus occasional additional donations was going to get me somewhere...

One interesting thing is the depth of knowledge that hackers and the NSA have. Imagine if the NSA really gave a shit about law enforcement? this wouldn't be happening. So while everyone was playing everyone and the wool was being pulled over the gullible electorate--the people that snoop on messages were the ones in the 'know' and the ones that had to actually show us the proof for any meaningful thing to come of it.
As it stands, DWS resigning is a joke. Nothing will appease me now other than to tear the whole thing down and either start over or replace it.

No choice. As your signature reminds us, Two is not a choice. We need other options. We need to create other options.

But there is a huge chance to change everything IF the people will wake up.

The fire is getting larger. Too many can see the complete corruption. Between the horrible "choice" between Trump or Hillary and the increasing police violence... something's gotta give. People are starting to become unglued.

but Hillary still loves her

Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz was repeatedly interrupted and booed Monday as she sought to speak to Florida's convention delegation.

The Florida lawmaker, who will resign after the Democratic National Convention this week after leaked emails showed top members of the DNC working to boost Hillary Clinton's presidential primary bid, had to strain her voice to yell over the flurry of protestors who showed up to interrupt her speech.

Yet the remarkable scene raised more questions about the wisdom of having Wasserman Schultz formally preside over the convention.

She has also said she plans to address the hall of delegates in Philadelphia. If she does, she will almost certainly be interrupted again by her opponents, but on a much larger scale.

Highlighting the chasm between the two sides was Suzanne Savary, a 69-year-old Clinton delegate running for Congress in Orange County. As a group of Sanders supporters chanted "lock her up," Savary got up from her seat table, pointed her finger in their faces and told them to stop it.

"They're too young to understand that their behavior, rather than uniting, is the best tool Trump has," Savary said. "It's so hard to get the message through to these young people. They lost. It's time to come together as a family and not let a megalomaniac take over our country."

So a Clintonite uses the same framing - naivety, fear Trump, they lost (when in absolute fact we were cheated) and now we're a "family". Other than a soap opera, what "family" cheats on it's family members?

Classic Orwellian media example.

If one were only reading the headline or title of this clip for instance, skimming around on one's Farcebook feed for example, it could easily have had the effect of making the reader thing she may have been warmly received, with "cheers."

But in fact, as the clip just above this shows, thankfully taken by an attendee and submitted online for the public to see, she was jeered heavily as she took the stage.

I fucking can't stand these purposely misinforming media lapdogs, who use Doublespeak as their primary language.

This kind of media disinformation is the crux of why we can't build mass movements in this country. Most folks are badly misinformed, lied to and easily distracted by manufactured controversy.

There are headlines that Sanders was booed. However, it is actually HRC who is being booed when he suggests that she should be elected.

Yes, the corporate media is a huge problem and will be for some time. We the People need to find a way to turn this around. It won't be by expecting the corporate media to wake up and do its job. There are a number of possibilities of creating a media that actually informs the public.

The Media Co-op in Canada is one way. An example of one of their articles talks about how the media distorts BLM:TALKING BACK: How whitestream media f*cks up when talking about Black Lives Matter

From the Media Co-op About page:

The Media Co-op is formally organized as a solidarity cooperative (also known as a multi-stakeholder co-op) with three kinds of members: readers, contributors and editors. This means that the Co-op seeks to represent the common interests of these various groups. For example: the readers want high-quality grassroots coverage, and are willing to pay for it; the contributors want to cover stories free from the constraints of the corporate press and be paid for their work. The editor members are charged with organizing the cooperative and keeping things running day to day.

There is a lot of independent media. It is a matter of finding it, supporting the current ones and funding more and expanding access. Here is a list of some: Six Non-Corporate News Outlets You Should Be Following.

Remember when corporate media showed a video which they claimed showed Sanders delegates throwing chairs when it showed nothing of the kind, and simply depended on nobody actually clicking the link? This is the kind of blatant reality-denying engaged in by such as polluting industry, getting away with outright murder for so long that they view it as a right.

This pathological corporate culture has been permitted to saturate government intended to be the united voice and arm of the people, defending them from those who would predate upon them.

Facebook admitted Sunday that it had blocked links to the Wikileaks trove of emails hacked from the Democratic National Committee.

In a Twitter post late Saturday, WikiLeaks accused the social media giant of “censorship” and gave its followers an online workaround, saying “try using https://archive.is.”

The WikiLeaks allegation followed a firestorm of controversy that erupted earlier this year when former Facebook workers admitted routinely suppressing conservative news.
