Innocent Until . . .

I will never make a great cartoonist. Political cartoons have one point and one point only. I tend to throw a dozen ideas into one picture. However, the overall meaning, I think, can be understood fairly easily. Opening the image in a new tab will bring up a much larger view.

In other somewhat related caravan news. I thought this was interesting: Ammon Bundy Quits Militia Movement Over Trump Backlash

Even the criminals are not happy with some of what Trump is doing/saying. I wonder if Bundy feels the same way that progressives feel when coming against that brick wall of non-listening, non-thinking Trump supporters.

Bundy, a central figure in the anti-government militia movement, recently criticized Trump’s rhetoric towards the migrant caravan at America’s southern border. Following the sharing of his opinions, which was surprising to his supporters, Bundy told BuzzFeed News that he was the instant target of a heavy backlash. Some wished he was dead or that they never supported his family during the standoffs and others claimed he was paid to switch political sides.

...

"It's like being in a room full of people in here, trying to teach, and no one is listening," Bundy told BuzzFeed News. "The vast majority seemed to hang on to what seemed like hate, and fear, and almost warmongering, and I don't want to associate myself with warmongers."

If not, he is close to it.

@ggersh

I am always looking for good examples of cartoons, especially political ones, in an effort to improve mine.

Now if I could only remember how to post an image without having to post a tweet or uploading to the c99 server. I did it once, and have forgotten. *sigh*

However, you did give me the clue that I needed and now there is a much better image size posted. Right clicking the image and choosing open image in a new tab is much closer to the size of the original which is actually quite huge.

followed the campaign in 2008 closely.

This is a little Off Topic, but I don't know where I can ask that question. Please forgive me abusing your post for this. I kinda feel uncomfortable to ask this question, but I could never forget about that clip.

Ok, just so, I never had any particular positive feelings for Hillary Clinton way back in the time. If I had been a person who would have been allowed to vote in the US way back in the nineties or in the 2008 campaign, I never would have voted for any of the two Clintons.

The only time I thought that she had some signs of honest human feelings (of exhaustion that is) was when she teared up in a campaign event in a group interviews in 2008. I remember that I thought that moment she was honest and nothing was 'staged' about it.

Your cartoon made me think back on that, so I watched again the video clip.

My question is what do or did you all here think about those tears? An honest moment of exhaustion or a little bit planned and staged moment of showing herself a vulnerable and human being, but still talking the politician's talk...
[video:https://youtu.be/6qgWH89qWks]
Her stone-faced expression during the funeral of GHWBush made me think that everything about her is staged. But then I think I am not fair.

End of being Off Topic:

So, it needed the Bundy guy to feel the heat towards him personally, to not 'want to be associated with warmongers'? Lordy, I am impressed... Tz, tz ... Gimme a break. It's innocent until your lies can't live up to your failing staged performance of your body language and facial expressions or a mistake in wording. ?

@mimi "everything about her is staged" Ding ding ding, hold the phones, we have a winner! I didn't watch the vid, and am unaware of that particular moment. But, both Clintons have Ph.D.s in sociopathic calculating manipulation. Virtually nothing they do or say is not for effect, the next move in their con game. The one where everyone loses and the Clintons win.

Understand, Hillary was the massive favorite to win the 2008 nomination. Then, in Iowa just a few days earlier, the unthinkable happened.

Let's turn to the wiki on that primary season:

After Obama's upset win in the Iowa caucuses, it appeared to many political observers that he would ride a wave of momentum through the New Hampshire primary and then go on to win the Democratic nomination. Eulogies were published on the Clinton campaign,[45] as Obama surged to a roughly 10-point lead in the New Hampshire polls.[46] However, the race turned quickly in the days before the primary, and the polls were slow to register a reversal toward Clinton. At the Saint Anselm College New Hampshire debate on January 5, 2008, Edwards sided with Obama against Clinton.[47] In one noted exchange, Edwards said that Clinton could not bring about change, while he and Obama could, saying "Any time you speak out powerfully for change, the forces for status quo attack." Clinton passionately retorted, saying, "Making change is not about what you believe; it's not about a speech you make. It's about working hard. I'm not just running on a promise for change. I'm running on 35 years of change. What we need is somebody who can deliver change. We don't need to be raising false hopes."[48] It came to be seen as the defining statement for her candidacy. The morning before the primary, Clinton became "visibly emotional" in response to a friendly question from a voter.[49] Video of the moment was replayed on cable news television throughout the day, accompanied by pundit commentary that ranged from sympathetic to callous in tone. Voters rallied to Clinton's defense, and she won a surprising 3% victory over Obama in the popular vote.

This video shows Hillary playing victim, one of her stock moves when facing a roadblock to her inevitability, her turn. It won her the NH primary, because it had just occurred the day before. Someone who really was choked up would not have had all the right platitudes lined up to deliver as she did. As the realization set in that it was a performance, she would lose other primaries and the nomination.

I watch out for platitudes and facial expression our new set of politicians here in Germany have. Though I am sick of it.

Sigh, thanks and Good Night.

@mimi @mimi

true human emotions is the many times she has yelled at people for asking her questions she didn't like. Everything else is phony.

I have often said and will repeat: We would have seen the same policies under HRC that we are seeing from Trump. The difference: She would have been quieter (and sneakier) about it.

Isn't it interesting that Bundy (and his father) purport to show compassion for asylum seekers but showed absolutely none for Native Americans? It is possible that his falling out with his buddies stemmed from something much different, and he is using it to make himself sound like the "good guy."

@mimi @mimi to piggyback on the others comments, the clip happened about the time critics were really hammering the “cold” Hillary and debating if she could connect with voters as she was so distant. Her campaign was also gearing up for the “all the men ganging up on poor Hillary” thing too. So, right on queue, she teared up and even though some people pointed out how contrived it was, you couldn’t point that out without being labeled a knuckle dragging sexist (especially at TOP). Not only did it switch the discussion from “Hillary can’t show emotions” to “what a strong moment of vulnerability” but it injected gender into the race and kneecapped Obama and Edwards for a bit.
