I got annoyed

So I wrote a diary responding to the 'Why Hillary is Winning' stuff.

Here it is for those of you who won't see it over there.

If you really want to understand why Clinton may very well not win

Pretty much everyone agrees that she had every single advantage a candidate could wish for going into this campaign. Yet, here we are in April and she doesn’t have it locked. In fact, the momentum is going against her. Why is that? Why?

Well, here’s the thing. The vast majority of eligible voters in this country do not follow politics day in and day out over decades. In that respect, the vast majority of eligible voters in this country do not look like Daily Kos bloggers and commenters.

What 50% of the eligible voters in this country look like is responsible, moral people trying to provide for themselves and their families on less than $53k a year household income. It is totally not helpful for a presidential candidate who occasionally professes to be progressive to diss them, or their children, or their grandchildren by ‘feeling sorry for them’ because they haven’t done their ‘research’.

NEWSFLASH! — People who don’t have much money are not necessarily ignorant. Neither are they clueless. Neither are they lazy. Neither are they undeserving of a voice, although you’d never know that if you get much of your news from the mainstream media.

Okay, let me get back to my point. Clinton is at risk of losing the nomination because she isn’t fighting for the right things, and she’s dissing people who are. She told our young people that she feels sorry for them because they don’t do their research and that they believe lies. That’s just silly. We have more young people getting higher education now than we’ve ever had. They know how to do research and they do it. They believe that they’re gonna graduate with mortgage sized student loan debts that will keep them from getting real mortgages on real houses to raise their families in. Hillary’s got tons of housing in whatever state she wants to be from. She doesn’t really seem to care. She got hers, and if they don’t, well, they’re just not doing their research.

She is also at risk of losing the nomination because she asks people who ask her legitimate questions about race and diversity policies, “Why don’t you just go run for something, then?” She doesn’t bother to address their question. She just asks them something that sounds like, “Why don’t you be me?” Then she gets back to the ‘issues.’ Well, guess what? There’s a ton of people doing great work in our communities who teach kids, collect garbage, fix plumbing and roofs, counsel people who are in crisis, care for people who are dying, clean homes and hotel rooms and conference rooms at ritzy hotels where $30,000 a plate fundraisers (more than the aforementioned workers or their spouses make in a year) have just been held. Many of those full time, dedicated workers support the Big Brothers Big Sisters in their communities, or Planned Parenthood, or even less organized but amazingly effective groups that help children and adults be responsible community members. They do it with their time. They are the boots on the ground.

“Why don’t you run for something, then?” It’s an okay question to ask, if you know something about the person you’re asking it to, if you are asking them in an encouraging way, as in, “You are impressive to me. Why don’t you run for something?” That’s not the way she asked it.

These aren’t all the reasons, but if you really want to understand why Clinton may very well not win, it’s a start.

I couldn't have resisted calling out HRC for her nasty finger wagging, which disgusts me so much that I can't be civil about it. It's so disrepectful. She has lost me forever.

I can see myself biting it off and sticking it up their nose. Then I remember I am a non violent person so I just growl and try to get away.

...is that time and time again, her message is identical to that of a lot of 1 percenters.

"I've got mine. Screw you if you don't have yours," and then added as further irritant at that smug dismissive smile she's beamed out for 3 decades now, ".., you poor things. you."

Well, I said it in 2008 AND I'm still saying it now, "Up yours, Hillary! I disliked women like you from the time we were all children until this moment. You NEVER understood why you and women like you are detested. It's your Social Club Arrogance. It was exclusionary when you were a kid and now that you're just as much an old bat as I am, it's parental and UTTERLY disrespectful. I've wanted a woman president all of my life, but NEVER were you a consideration in my life experience and values, not even a frivolous consideration."

Nancy, she's the kind of girl I avoided like pneumonic plague when I was a little girl, and she's the kind of young woman I couldn't stand but was forced by social pressure to acknowledge when I was attending university. she's the kind of woman I DETESTED as many of my generation raised children and hers was too good to play with my peers' offspring, and she's the kind of politician I WILL NOT SUPPORT AT GUNPOINT because her husband didn't serve in the military, she doesn't acknowledge the waste of men of her generation killed in Viet Nam and she doesn't even THINK OF THE MEN AND WOMEN SERVING NOW AS HUMAN BEINGS WITH PARENTS AND GRANDPARENTS who are worth as much as she is.

She's an OLIGARCH, for ****'s sake and it's time someone threw her and the other oligarchs out of the Democratic Party.

They stand on the heads of all others, and they didn't ask permission to climb on any of us.

She doesn't bring out the best in us. Bernie does. That's why I'm working (without pay, by the way) every day to get the word out about him. He is what we need. We need to have his back in a big sort of way and do all we can to help everyday, decent, moral, hardworking, caring and compassionate people know that they really got to vote in this one, if their chance isn't already past.

HRC and her campaign are so condescending to millennials (aka: me and my peers) and to quote her, "I am soooo sick of [it]." I'm not some dumb millennial who is dazzled by the prospect of ~*~FREE STUFF~*~ from Senator Sanders, I'm a very intelligent person who is grounded in reality. And the reality is (someone else posted a diary today detailing this, sorry I can't remember who at the moment) the middle class has suffered and slowly been turned more and more into the lower class, into poverty, while Rethuglicans and conservaDems gut the social safety net. PERHAPS, though I doubt the Clinton campaign possibly thinks they could be wrong on anything, but perhaps millennials like myself are tired of seeing suffering, tired of seeing our parents struggle, tired of our own struggle, tired of going into crippling debt just to get a mediocre job because post-secondary education has become a necessity unless you want to live in poverty, tired of racking up credit card debt not on clothes and lattes, but on medical bills, and perhaps that is why we support Senator Sanders, someone who actually recognizes these problems, has plans to fix them AND WANTS TO FIX THEM. Because, IDK my BFF Jill? No, because he's not beholden to a bunch of corporate donors and Wall Street so he's not afraid to piss people off.

Okay, sorry for the mini-rant, I'm just really irked with the way millennials like myself are talked down about during this election cycle (see: Bernie Bros, "the girls are just going where the cute boys are," etc.).

I don't even consider HRC a Democrat anymore. This time round, when the Clintons are attacked, I won't feel as if I need to defend either of them as I felt compelled to do in the 90s. And I hope the Clinton Foundation is investigated down to every last penny raised and spent.

Yes! That's the thing. I'm 52 and I've never had the opportunity to support a candidate like this one. I wanted to, but I was 17 1/2 the first time Reagan was elected. You see how that turned out. Please do all you can to get like minded people out to the polls when it's time for them to vote in their caucuses or primaries, if they haven't already. Thanks.

We've seen those exit polls that show younger voters preferring Bernie 84-16 or so. A recent poll showed that Hillary would be the choice of the young versus Trump 52-19 and that was greeted with delight by the Hillfolk as if it were something to be proud of, as if that would bring her to victory in November.

But consider...first of all that leaves another 29% undecided...if Bernie is up on Hillary by 84-16 among Dems then you figure he'd be ahead of Trump 70-19 or 75-19....some number larger than Hillary's.

In other words, Hillary's supposed great shape with young voters is really not all that good.

preferring hillary over trump...that's if (& that's a BIG "if") they actually vote for her--which is highly suspect, according to the young voters i've spoken to.

I think your post is great! Thank you for writing that. It made me think of an article in the Huffington Post recently, that detailed how the candidates really do differ, and those who are suffering with college debt, health care costs, lower job options, etc. can't afford the status quo. It did also mention climate change...which none of us can wait for! The title is "Please recognize your privilege if you an afford 8 years of Hillary Clinton and the status quo". First off, he was the only president whose administration cared for and respected the Hawaiian people, as opposed to regarding them as an inconvenient demographic detail concomitant to coveting their islands as a grand place for a yuuuge naval base.

Secondly, he not only was an example of what you suggest — voters should be encouraged to toss a president after his or her first term if they think he or she isn’t delivering — but was also an example of how voters should even have the option of saying, “Nope, we were wrong, we want you back for a second term after all.”
