This Happened

And this happened...

The House of Representatives wrapped up its debate over the challenge to Arizona’s presidential electors not long after another pair of the state’s Democrats made their arguments against the effort.

Rep. Ruben Gallego, D-Ariz., exhorted Republicans to abandon their loyalty to President Donald Trump after an unprecedented assault on the Capitol.
“Today, there was treason in this house. Today there was traitors in this house,” he said. “I'm not asking my Republican colleagues to help me and stop this objection to Arizona. I'm asking you to get off all these objections.

The death of political cartooning and why it matters

“Revolution” fantasts all across the spectrum: the pro-Trump Capitol march appears to have been a case of Reality Ensues. Some people there may have thought they were in the climactic scene of V for Vendetta, sans Guy Fawkes masks.

They weren’t. The minds of enough of We the People / the 99% still believe the regime and the media.

I'm not old enough to stream it but downloading was no problem, so did watch 1 minute and 18 seconds before my kabuki theater meter went past eleventy, beyond a squillion. Thank you ipTV whatever that is. Haha never mind. Intellectual thought property invented to offset too much public thought property in the tv department is what that is, I think.

The Latest: Trump promises ‘orderly transition’ on Jan. 20

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Latest on Congress’ tally of the Electoral College vote won by Joe Biden (all times local):

3:55 a.m.

President Donald Trump now says there “will be an orderly transition on January 20th” after Congress concluded the electoral vote count certifying President-elect Joe Biden’s victory and after a day of violence when his supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol.

Trump says in a statement tweeted by his social media director Dan Scavino, “Even though I totally disagree with the outcome of the election, and the facts bear me out, nevertheless there will be an orderly transition on January 20th.”

He adds: “I have always said we would continue our fight to ensure that only legal votes were counted. While this represents the end of the greatest first term in presidential history, it’s only the beginning of our fight to Make America Great Again.”

Trump’s account is currently locked by Twitter.

The person supposed to represent my interests in Congress threatened Trump with impeachment (again), for sedition (this time). Being Jared Huffman:

“We’ll take stock of what needs to change and who needs to be held accountable,” Huffman said.

While Huffman initially said he was unsure whether Congress could complete an impeachment trial of Trump before Biden’s inauguration on Jan. 20, he later tweeted that he supported impeachment and the invocation of the 25th Amendment to remove Trump from office.

“We are going to impeach the seditious criminal Trump (again), and this time we convict in the Senate. Even if it happens after he leaves office. This just cannot stand,” Huffman wrote.

Another distraction to do nothing on M4A is what that smells like, naturally.

The violent ones were wearing black gloves? to cover fingerprints? Maybe right wing crazies. Maybe Deep state actors. People compare this to the Reichstag. I keep thinking of SS troops dressed as Polish soldiers crossing into Poland and crossing back to blow up a German radio station to create a casus belli.
Look for more restrictions on civil liberties.

The rabid frothings of (D) politicians make me wonder if I'm wise to post here. And I think that effect is intentional. Trump isn't Hitler, just a megalomaniac showman. Biden may be be Hitler not the demented fool he seems to be. Or maybe he is a prop as well, selected because he has a record of obeying the bankers.

Rather than a would-be dictator using crisis as the excuse to tighten and centralize control, in reality Trump is serving as the bogeyman, the patsy, and the all-round excuse for our real rulers to crack down and abolish the last semblance of uncensored speech, freedom from surveillance, and civil liberties.

@lotlizard @lotlizard When I step back and try to look at this divorced from emotion, that's the outcome I see as well. Not based on conspiracy or pulling things out of my ass, but looking at what happened in the wake of other "unprecedented" events that upset TPTB's sense of security, such as 9/11.

Matt from Chapo Trap House did a good Vlog on this last night. He is someone I find to be pretty damn sharp when it comes to politics and history.

@Dr. John Carpenter @Dr. John Carpenter Oops - Dr. John. It explains a lot of what we saw and why no gratuitous tagging, spray painting, destruction of paintings, statues, mail, computers. Nothing. It makes sense.

Watching the (insert label here) march between the red ropes was surreal. The marchers only want Trump. Nothing real, so no threat to the establishment. They don't see any upset to the apple cart. And as he says toward the 17 minute mark, they (the TPTB) got what they want: big tax cuts and deregulation among other things.

Don't know what Chapo Trap House is.

First time I've ever watched his vlog. Perceptive anaylsis with the bonus of the chill vibe in the telling of it for those who don't care for Dore's energy (Is this guy vaping while he's filming himself?).

Anyway, for those who don't want to watch the video, I copied a snippet from the first part of this piece out of the accompanying transcript which I thought encapsulated the event fairly succintly.

"Holy mackerel, Man, I knew they were going to take it hard but I have to admit I thought that once the cops showed up they’d back down. But then we saw it happen and that's the thing to remember about this -- the cops let them in. That's the important thing. This is not a situation where some force just proved too powerful for the state where the mechanisms of power were somehow overwhelmed by human concentrated effort. No they let them in and why they let them in is probably a variety of factors. A lot of it probably just being that because the cops are not trained to dehumanize these people, they treated them like human beings and so you can't treat people like human beings if you're going to really dissuade them from doing something they want to do like if you really want to stop a bunch of very angry people from doing something they want to do you have to disabuse them of it with violence and you have to be willing to do that and they weren't willing to do it that's one explanation and that's i think probably on a micro level part of it. But i think also you know there's the idea that the cops are essentially also rioting. They're not happy that Trump lost either so the cops letting them in is sort of their way of contributing to the demonstration and to signal their unhappiness.

Then of course you can go full tin foil hat and say well they did it so that this could happen because i have to say if i was the deep state, or whatever you want to define that as, if i was like the elements within our government that are seeking to maintain the current system and are most aware of what that entails as opposed to being ideologically entrapped by their own ??? like Trump people are, something like this is ideal. You have an incident here that has disciplined both sides perfectly because for anyone on the left, the specter of this will be the thing that prevents it from ever being the time to say anything bad about any democrat in office because any show of vulnerability will repeat will lead to these people just taking power and also it disciplines the left from ever asking for too much because the think will be do you really want them to go wild which if we did something too big?"

@Anja Geitz from the fires which devastated the Rogue Valley September 8th of last year. What pissed the cops off, apparently, was that the "occupation" received publicity, not that it was an "occupation" per se. There was still a presence in Cal Anderson Park at that time. I guess they cleared it out last month, though, to the sound of totally biased media coverage. Come on. "Reopens"? It was open all along. "Illegally occupied"? Only part of the park was occupied, and that part was occupied as a public service.

you experienced in September. I went through something similar in September with the Bobcat fire. Although, I never actually had to evacuate, I lived for three weeks with a Level 2 Evacuation warning and the fear that came with it. Air quality was so awful during that time it was actually difficult to breath. Not a great way to live during Covid stress. "Are my lungs hurting because of the fire, or do I have Covid?" pretty much ran through everyone's mind as the fire just kept growing bigger and bigger every hour. Ugh. A real downside living in the foothills here so close to the mountains.

The Cal Anderson Park "occupation". Jeez, it's almost impossible for me to read anything the media puts out there about protestors and "illegal occupation" without remembering OWS and how I cried watching the police burn all the books from "peoples library" during that infamous 3am raid in Zuccotti Park. Maybe it's just me, but with all the people losing their jobs and being evicted from their homes, I keep thinnking we are going to see another "illegal" occupation in D.C. reminiscent of the of the Bonus Army "occupation".

@The Voice In the Wilderness thanks, that article made me LOL because I like it when a self-described conservative named Eubank from Hoover is quoted as saying she melted like a snowflake when the glass started breaking.

Eubank said she will remain in Virginia until Friday because she can’t get a flight out of the nation’s Capital until then.

She said she’s going to avoid the Capitol on Thursday. She said the weather is “lousy” in Washington, D.C., and that she plans on relaxing and spending the day at the hotel.

“The wind is vicious and it’s not something this Southern girl likes to get out in the middle of,” she said.

He shows the cops opening the gates to let protesters into the capital, and shows the rioter inside taking selfies with the police. I smell a complicit rat.

If this was BLM storming the capitol I think they would have used machine guns. The US militarized cops are a big part of our problem. Jimmy said they had 50 cops for the 40 person 'force the vote' protest in DC.

Jimmy also asks why were the cops on the street fighting protestors but not so in the capitol building. They are two different forces DC police on the street, Capitol police in the Capitol.

Some talking head asks a pertinent question. They've been talking up the raid on social media for a week, why weren't the cops better prepared? Perhaps they were?

So ByeDone will be the prez and dims will control the senate, but I bet nothing changes...more coups, wars, no M4A, socialism for corporations and nothing or peanuts for the serfs. So it goes.

Last summer, the cops themselves were often the target of the protests. Bricks, rocks, and fireworks were being thrown at them and police cars were set afire. Graffiti were sprayed on every vertical surface.

When there is unrest in Germany, mobs will often shower even firefighting crews and medical first responders with fireworks and rocks.

Yesterday in Washington, the police forces themselves were not the object of the protest, so it doesn’t surprise me that cops were more accommodating to protesters. Although windows were broken, the Capitol has not been trashed, the House and Senate chambers were not set alight with Molotov cocktails, and the walls inside and outside have not been covered with spray-painted graffiti.

In the end the protest melted away; everyone left and went home. There seems to have been no defacing of historical statues and portraits and no CHOP / CHAZ style declarations of a lasting occupation of the Capitol as a liberated zone.

Many of the same people who are now calling what happened yesterday terrorism or insurrection were playing with words last summer, redefining destruction of property as nonviolent speech and saying that only actual bodily harm to others qualifies as violence.

Is it great yet?

I agree with the point of view of this WSWS article, but it is an interesting take.
This part makes sense;

What occurred yesterday was the outcome of a carefully planned conspiracy. It was instigated by Donald Trump, who has been working with a gang of fascist conspirators strategically positioned within the White House and other powerful institutions, departments and agencies of the state. Wednesday’s operation carries with it the overwhelming stench of the Trump sons, close aides like Stephen Miller, and numerous others working behind the scenes within the military, the National Guard and the police.

This is debatable;

The Democrats’ response to the fascist conspiracy is not dictated by merely cowardice or stupidity. Rather, as representatives of the financial-corporate oligarchy, they are frightened that the exposure of the criminal conspiracy and its political aims would ignite a mass response within the working class that spirals into a movement against the capitalist state and the interests it serves.

The part I question is the notion that "exposure ...would ignite a mass response within the working class that spirals into a movement against the capitalist state and the interests it serves."

Again, it's an interesting article.

Now imagine Bernie succeeding Empty in 2016 would the country now have more equality, would we now have Universal Healthcare, we Police not be as militarized? Would the murder of George Floyd sparked protests to the extent they did over the summer?

Watching what little MSM coverage of the rebellion that I could stomach and not once blaming DC policies for any of it was beyond reality. Brian Williams couldn't say enough times how disgusting tRump was and this was all on him. That's all fine and dandy but where was the MSM the last 4 years while watching how the D's passed every one of tRumps bill until this last one. Where was the MSM when McConell/Pelosi wouldn't pass a bill w/money/help for the people, nope everything bad in the world is cuz of tRump, such an easy scapegoat. Nope the MSM is not the people's friend in any which way possible.

So in seeing how we the people have been fucked in every which way possible it's not so hard to believe that tRump actually won and I can see why his followers believe him. It's way above my paygrade to know whether or Dominion is the new Diebold which if I remember correctly stole Ohio for Dubya. And remember RussiaGate which still lives on today, so while her heinous and co go on and on about Russiagate doesn't that give cover for the donald to go on and on about Dominion and whatever, it's all kabuki anyhow.

I believe come April after the DC swamp passes the Grand Bargain/TPP and whatever else they may screwing ameriKKKans in every which way and when most ameriKKKans will be hungry, homeless and hopeless will the left and right unite in fighting up rather than fighting each other.

You can take it to the bank that the Dementia Joe administration will weaponize this rebellion in every way possible. The democKracy we never had has officially come to an end.

Eat your heart out Markos. All you got was a photo op. Uploader won't load photos this morning so just click through and see how many people had access to the Speaker of the House office. You'd think it would be a little harder to storm the very heart of the US government wouldn't you?

Photos of people in Pelosi's office

I think this guy is in for a world of hurt and he doesn't quite realize it yet. So are the people who broke furniture and stole a lectern. My goodness no wonder world leaders all joined in to express their horror and outrage...

Man who posed at Pelosi desk said in Facebook post that he is prepared for violent death

Last Saturday, Richard Barnett of Gravette, Ark., criticized Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in a Facebook post for using the description "white nationalist" as a "derogatory term."

"I am white. There is no denying that. I am a nationalist. I put my nation first. So that makes me a white nationalist," Barnett wrote on page he maintained under a pseudonym, before adding that people who were not nationalists should "get the f--- out of our nation."

Just four days later, Barnett was photographed sitting with his feet up on a desk in Pelosi's office at the U.S. Capitol - an image that quickly became emblematic of the chaotic storming of the complex by a pro-Trump mob.

Barnett, who is 60 and goes by the nickname "Bigo," identified himself as the intruder in Pelosi's office to New York Times reporter Matthew Rosenberg later on Wednesday, according to a post on Twitter by Rosenberg.

Barnett also confirmed his involvement to the Arkansas television station 5News. Barnett, who was photographed outside the Capitol holding an envelope he said he removed from Pelosi's office, said he had taken the envelope because he had bled on it. "I put a quarter on the desk because I'm not a thief," he told 5News.

So what was some of the reasons that this was allowed to happen? Well there was lots of talk yesterday about how social media is deciding whether to terminate the president of the US accounts. In other words let us ramp up the censorship that we all saw coming when they rolled out Russia Gate and then played their incrementalism games with us. Censorship is not coming. It is here and it has been here longer than we realize.

BTW there sure is a lot of information regarding Barnett's history.

Hey the stock market is over 31,000 this morning and up 357 points after yesterday's events. Totally disconnected from reality. And the real economy.

The first vid is age restricted, a bizarre twist showing that the you tube thought police couldn't figure out how to wall it off (to the small extent that they did) but felt they had to for what reason? No evil sex or nudity or cursing, at least for the bit I watched before getting bored with it. Avert thy gaze, people, here be dragons white rioters seeking to achieve a political goal (terrorists, by definition) being coddled by cops. Whoa, but, then again, meh. No news there.

So the expected riots came, seemingly instigated by the Greatest Two Bit Reality TV Star Evah(tm), as expected and anticipated by all but law enforcement because the participants weren't primarily persons of color, hippies, known lefties, juggalos or other suspect (ie targeted) classes. And surprise, nothing happened. My guess is that clowns like McConnell and Cruz were as much at risk as Pelosi and Schumer because mob psychosis and ignorance.

And a new day has dawned and guess what - "It's all the same fuckin' day man" (Janis). Here it is garbage pick up day, no irony there, nor on the 20th, which will be the day we take the garbage cans out to the curb. Some of the cover crop we planted has come up, that in the raised beds, while that in the bed in the ground seems to have frozen and died. One am tomorrow will allegedly be the last rain for almost 2 weeks and what else is new?

That, in its essence, is fascism--ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or by any other controlling private power. -- Franklin D. Roosevelt --

We are officially in 2021. We will see more volatility in our country - change is coming about, which cannot happen without strife. Yesterday's scene was the beginning of more to come. It's the only way to change our system of government - which will change in the coming years. We are headed to the unity consciousness - division needs to be quashed - get to it or live in fear and agony. I'm choosing unity.

Enjoy the day! Pleasantry

we will have to negotiate on our way out of the Casino Parking Lot of Dysfunctional Eliteville, as we ponder a route that will take us back onto the Ho'oponopono Highway.

I pretty much watched the entire chaos all day yesterday. I had 4 live streams going!

These morons actually made it into congress member's offices and what do they do? Take selfie's? These aren't "patriots", they're idiots. And people really though "it can't happen here".

With strategy and discipline, this would be a different country today. We lucked out they were idiots. Gee, I wonder if the Republicans will bash them for not having a strategy?

The epic security failure was nothing short of astonishing. A lot of heads should roll for this failure!

I think that video up at the top is "age restricted" by the User's account and not YT. This video from Jon Farina of Status Coop is "crazy", and I'm talking in your face siege warfare, bodies pushing against bodies, trying to breach the Capital.

It's pretty intense, and it's just "raw footage", so no commentary. I'm not sure which entrance it is but, man, they are squeezed in like sardines, pushing, shoving, whacking each other with batons, pepper spray in the face etc...

Now that the "Democrats" are back in the driver's seat, controlling the house, the senate and the WH, they will have no excuses, or anyone the "blame" for why they can't get legislation passed to help "we the people".

There are many "lessons" to be learned by the "left" from all of this, but, strategy & discipline is crucial.

I'm just saying... "Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable." - JFK
