Former Democratic National Committee head Donna Brazile writes in a new book that she seriously contemplated replacing Hillary Clinton as the party’s 2016 presidential nominee with then-Vice President Biden in the aftermath of Clinton’s fainting spell, in part because Clinton’s campaign was “anemic” and had taken on “the odor of failure.”

In an explosive new memoir, Brazile details widespread dysfunction and dissension throughout the Democratic Party, including secret deliberations over using her powers as interim DNC chair to initiate the process of removing Clinton and running mate Sen. Tim Kaine (Va.) from the ticket after Clinton’s Sept. 11, 2016, collapse in New York City.

Brazile writes that she considered a dozen combinations to replace the nominees and settled on Biden and Sen. Cory Booker (N.J.), the duo she felt most certain would win over enough working-class voters to defeat Republican Donald Trump. But then, she writes, “I thought of Hillary, and all the women in the country who were so proud of and excited about her. I could not do this to them.”

I seem to recall that a mandate was laid down on a certain March 15 as to who was to be supported and what discourse would be acceptable. I also understand that since then the bannings and purges have been consistent with that mandate.

All those “Rational Progressives” were kicked out leaving this site an echo chamber of the founder.

Given how many people fell for these lies about the DNC peddled by someone whose tether to reality is, at best, weak, I’d say the opposite is true here. There’s a good portion of users at DK who hate the Democratic base of the party and will listen to any lies people tell about it to take the Party down.

Russians inflamed emotions all over the place and even brought Bernie vs Hillary emotional fights onto this site, and even primed us for future flare ups. Look at how they targeted us with the just-before-the-DNC email dumps.

Could we please get a comment or statement from DKos admins on the defensive measures being taken to prevent Russian or other troll accounts from stirring the pot here?

To everyone who is currently getting worked up about the DNC bit: These revelations are coming out right after the Mueller round 1 indictments were made public. T The level of invective and emotional prodding (language used to inflame emotions) has gone from 0 to 10 almost overnight. The timing of the flare up smells fishy to me.

Ask if our emotions are being manipulated disproportionately. (I’m not going to say that shenanigans within the DNS shouldn’t be investigated and that the DNC should not be reformed to fix any structural problems.) I am suggesting that this environment feels too much like other events felt where we had confirmed Russian manipulation.

This person seems to think that if ToP hadn't had so many diaries on this that it might have slipped bye and no one talked about it.

Everything they said would have been “inside baseball” that slid under the radar of most voters if they hadn’t been amplified on the Internet, including on this site. I have no doubt there are people on this site whose write solely to try to reduce votes for Democrats. These people are probably a combination of Republicans and third party advocates acting on their own, and people paid by Republicans and by the governments of Russia and possibly other anti-US countries. Why wouldn’t they use this free megaphone to get Democrats to turn on each other when it’s so very easy and cheap to do, and so hard to detect?

This person went on to write 15-20 comments in this vein and said that any criticism of the DP was should not be allowed because it helps republicans...

@Bollox Ref I've been rolling it over in my head and I can't figure out who the intended audience is. On the surface, it sounds like a complete fabrication. If it's true, I don't see how it's supposed to make her look good. For one thing, she's already lost the Hillbots by being any bit critical of Her. So the "I thought of all the women and just couldn't go through with it" stuff looks like the pandering crap it is.

But to the rest, here is someone in a position to know Her rigged the primary to begin with. Brazile apparently is well aware of the chaos Her is causing in the party. Then, Donna has serious reservations on Her health (I am guessing from the context) to the point where she realizes the need to replace Her on the ticket. But, she doesn't because her feels got in the way? Or something?

So, Brazile wants us to believe she was the last line of defence between what she knew was a fatally flawed campaign and losing to Trump (not that I think Biden/Booker would have been much of an improvement) and she couldn't do what she should have done, assuming the decision was hers to make. And we're supposed to feel how about this? I really don't get it. This may be the most confusing part yet of the "don't blame me, but here's all the dirt" tour she's on.

While I'm sure they treated her like dirt (who haven't they?) all the quotes I've seen from Brazile, including the ones you bring up, are overly dramatic, self-pitying and self-serving, even as she's dishing her dirt. Even though she's confirming what I think happened, I just can't accept her at face value. I didn't trust her then and I still don't.

As to what she's up to, I think she's realized the bus has rolled by and she ain't on it. So, she's got a book to sell and is aiming for becoming a professional talking head. And I think she's trying to step out from any guilt she may feel or thinks she's been assigned (but again, who hasn't been blamed for Her's wipeout?)

This could get more interesting as it goes, especially if Brazile wraps herself in identity politics as she's done to deflect criticism before. Time will tell, as they say. How it ends or if it matters, I can't even guess.

Obama hasn't gone away. He's just Biden his time until Hillary implodes so he can take over the party infrastructure.

Donna's book helps that process along.

If you think about it, perhaps Obama set up his parallel party apparatus in the first place BECAUSE the DNC was already overrun with Hillbots.

That would explain his apparent neglect of the DNC: he figured it was Hillary's turf so why shouldn't she pay for it.

That would be a great little revenge move from Obama for the shit she did to him in 2008, which he hasn't forgotten (his last Press Club Dinner included a reference to the 3 a.m. phone call ad). Anyway, that's not a man who forgets a grudge. I wouldn't want to be on his shit list. But the revenge would likely be carefully planned and long delayed. He's a best served cold kinda guy.

In addition, it was stupid running Hillary, even from the oligarch's perspective, and Obama is the smart oligarch's politician. They'll still destroy the world, but they'll do fewer stupid things along the way. So I really thought they might make a move to insert Biden at the convention. They'd have had a better chance of winning if they had done so, I think. Though with so much fraud going on, it's hard to make such assessments.

Although DB is basically as far from my like list as HER herself, I am enjoying watching it play out. No sense wasting time talking to Dems/Hillbots about it. Neighborhood friends sent me a petition today from the Equality PAC asking me to sign if you agree with HRC about LBTQ+ rights... Not only did I let the neighbors know what I thought, but I immediately unsubscribed from that mailing list and as a reason told them that any organization using HER to build support is not one i could ever support. She just will not go away, will she!
