First the tragedy, then the farce

if history repeats itself, as Karl Marx once suggested, first as a tragedy and the second time as a farce, there is nothing to laugh about.

I'm operating on the assumption that Trump will be strive to act out as the reincarnated Raygun. "Make America great again." Right out of a Raygun playbook: "...It's morning again in America, and under the leadership of President Reagan, our country is prouder and stronger and better."

But while the man fancied himself as a 'Great Communicator', the tragedies were not confined to Iran-Contra, "trees pollute", Central American death squad support, the collapased failure on nuclear weapons control with Gorbachev at Rejkavik Summit of 1986, Patco union-busting, or creating the myth of an "evil empire". The list is rather long and depressing.

It ought to be a long, rough ride, but I weathered thru Raygun so I can handle it.

just endured and could continue on for years. He was sanctified by the right, even though he couldn't win an election in the atmosphere today. Much of what was done in Reagan's name was created out of the Bush cabal that really ran the show. Remember, Reagan almost bought the farm six month's in to his presidency when the son of a Bush family friend shot him. That would have put Bush in the driver's seat instead of having to manipulate things from behind the curtain. Trump should be acutely aware of the fact he has a religious zealot for a vice president who is all in with the globalist agenda.

Trump appealed to working or not-working men. He talked about dirty trade deals that have crippled this country and brought down our standard of living while making China a world player.

He talked about immigration, a subject that many Americans find problematic, especially now watching Europe being overrun with "refugees" - refugees WE created.

He talked about getting along with other world leaders instead of bombing the crap out of their countries unless they knuckled under to the US and kissed our ass.

Whatever your politics, it is easy to brush all this off as racist or sexist. Trump's campaign appealed to the lizard brain. We all have one, some of us hide it better than others. He dug down and talked about what is scaring the crap out of Americans today and they responded.
