This seems like a big deal to me, Joe.

I hope one of our regulars, Wendy??, others, can provide some insight on this.

My first take is that Donnie leaving the WH and Bibi's trial starting in Jan/Feb those 2 miscreants need a pot-stirring disgrace to play them off the stage.

@NYCVG Meanwhile, this cabin on Toledo Bend has satellite TV. I watched MSNBC for 60 seconds and see that they are concerned that The Donald has state secrets in his head, and that info in his head could be worth a lot of money.
We are all gonna die.
I am back on the porch, enjoying the sights and sounds of the night, have spareribs in the oven, wishing I could avoid crazy, but that is not possible.
The temperature is dropping, rains are coming, and it is all good without MSNBC intruding on reality.
I hope everyone is taking precautions.

damn, i was going to avoid the news, but this is a big damned deal.

a quick read of the nyt take on it suggests to me that this was a mossad hit done with the permission of the trump administration.

it appears to me that trump is at least working with netanyahu to scupper the possibility of renewing the jcpoa. trump and netanyahu might be after something even more evil, but they are probably at least going to be successful at scuppering the deal.

Hard-line protesters calling for war with the United States staged a demonstration in Tehran outside the residence of President Hassan Rouhani on Friday night, hours after the assassination of Iran’s top nuclear scientist.

“No to submission, no to concession with America, only war with America!” a crowd of dozens of men chanted at the protest, as seen in videos shown on Iranian television and posted to social media. The demonstrators also called for expelling the international inspectors who are monitoring Iran’s nuclear program.

They held up signs reading “Silence is permission for more assassinations” and “Mr. President, they killed your minister’s adviser. Stop negotiation.”

Mr. Rouhani’s administration was already facing a tough battle with the country’s hard-line faction for any revival of the nuclear deal with the incoming administration of President-elect Joseph R. Biden Jr.

The assassination is likely to harden the position of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who has maintained Washington cannot be trusted regardless of which party is in power.

Mohammad Imani, a prominent hard-line columnist for the Keyhan newspaper that serves as Mr. Khamenei’s mouthpiece, wrote on Friday that the “Gentlemen sitting across the negotiating table are the same terrorists of Baghdad airport,” referring to the assassination in January of Maj. Gen. Qassim Suleimani, Iran’s top security and intelligence commander.

He added: “We cannot trust them.”

he's completely correct. iran has no basis upon which to trust the u.s. government. the u.s. government has been a bad actor with malevolent intent towards iran and countless horrible and criminal actions since the early 50's.

@joe shikspack Iran has no reason to trust the USA, Joe. Thanks for responding.

OTOH, Rouhani and Javad Zarif did give us reason to trust them.

We want their oil. We are the bad guys. we will invade, occupy, destroy entire civilizations in order to enrich ourselves. The entire world understands this.

Had another pretty one here. Hope you all recovered from T-day and had a nice day. Managed to move some old herbs from the garden to an new spot opening new bed space...and getting the herbs near the house. Hope it is win -win.

Tomorrow we need to freeze some of yesterday's bounty. Got a soup stock going today to help with the leftovers....made use of the turkey carcass.

Still have some color...

lifting state moratoriums and allowing eviction proceedings to continue caused as many as 433,700 excess cases of Covid-19 and 10,700 additional deaths in the U.S. between March and September.

Source

This is on top of states letting Covid run wild through retirement homes and that there still aren’t enough PPE for every person to be protected. Especially our health care workers, many of whom have died. I can’t begin to imagine the stress they are under after this long. I still remember the few horrid days working in hospital when there was lots of trauma. That was just 1 day. There’s are on going.

this ought to be posted in large, friendly letters in full view in every eviction court in the u.s.:

"This is a time where it's not an overstatement to say that for many people, eviction can lead to death," said Helen Matthews, communications manager at City Life Vita Urbana, a nonprofit in Boston.

i don't know which i am more tired of, the pandemic or the elected morons that are criminally bewildered and unfortunately organizing the response to the pandemic.

I’m sick to death of government because if they would do what’s needed we would be better able to deal with the epidemic. We did such a half assed lockdown we shouldn’t even call it that. Too many places were allowed to stay open and they weren’t pressured into providing PPE for everyone. After 10 months they still aren’t doing what they should be doing.

It’s the indifference of congress that gets me. That they are at home with everything that is going on is so f’cking mind boggling. Isn’t it?

Hey JS! Hope yer havin' a good respite and relaxation, with just the right tryptophan and other levels. Wink

Great sounds man! Mickey Baker was awesome. Great player, way ahead of his time. I'd bet leftover turkey Dick Dale was listening to Old Devil Moon. That was radical stuff he was playing. That Memphis Slim stuff is awesome too. I love all the Mickey and Sylvia stuff, it is, pardon the cliche, all good. I think he was a much bigger influence than given credit for.

Thanks for the tunes! Have a great one!

@dystopian

mickey baker was tremendously influential. lots of guitarists listened to him and over the years god knows how many used his book to learn how to play. it was (and still is) a very popular guitar course.

i am a big fan of memphis slim, and he was very picky about which guitar players he would work with. (matt "guitar" murphy was his guitarist for a long time and memphis slim had nothing but the highest praise for him.) if he worked with a guitarist you can be pretty sure that they were not only talented technicians, they knew how to listen and accompany.

have a great weekend!

"Old Devil Moon" was written for the musical Finian's Rainbow, which was a moderate success on Broadway and a disappointing film. (By the time they got around to making it, all the "startling" developments were old hat.)

my spidey sense tells me that regardless of whether trump himself was involved (though i think that he's probably made clear to his minions that he'd like to leave as big a mess as possible for his successor) - pompous maximus was almost certainly involved in this. if trump didn't tell him to say yes, the homicidal evangelical jeebus did.

heh, i hope thanksgiving day two was a success for you and yours.

Wow! Mickey Baker ...who knew? Not me. Now I do, though.

Rainy day here in the Houston area. Probably needed the moisture.

Got to have my favorite T-Day leftovers for lunch today: King rolls with leftover turkey and Heinz 57 sauce – as little sandwiches. Don't knock it till you try it!

Thanks for the bluez sans newz.

@travelerxxx

evening traveler. heh, i remember back when i was in my 20's i was living in a house with a whole bunch of hippies and we got the biggest turkey that i have ever seen and baked it for thanksgiving. we were expecting a bunch of guests, but it started snowing the night before and nobody showed up. so we had this huge turkey (quite delicious) which we did our best to demolish, but we had tons of leftovers. we made turkey salad, turkey noodle soup and all kinds of turkey stuff out of it but long after my taste for turkey had run out, well, we still had turkey.

so after some particularly effective afternoon hippie treats, i went rooting through the spice cabinet and i invented blackened cajun turkey.

it was actually pretty good. i kid you not. Smile

Hmmm. I do believe you, considering how well blackened seasonings work with mild fish. I may just do some experimenting...

@travelerxxx

the key to it was making sure that it stays moist. i took a bunch of turkey fat which i skimmed off of the gravy and mixed it up with lemon and pressed garlic (don't use garlic powder, it's just not right) which went great with the salty cajun seasoning that somebody left in the cupboard. use the turkey fat liberally to help keep the meat moist in the pan - you might also cover it with a pot lid to hold in the moisture.

Did not visit my pal at the corner market like I mentioned, kept my own fine diseases inside all day and night. Did not share. It is the corona that feels like broken glass in the throat and ear every swallow, not that bad. Instead of Forever 27 birthday jamming, I brewed some meadowsweet tea, took a dose and choked down a CBD pill with some garlic caps. Good morning noon night, zzzzzzzzz. To sleep, to dream, like tryptophan.

One good thing about cold viruses is, it feels great when they go away. ta

Cheers
