Conman and Narcissist - Makes For One Weak Combo

Some thoughts arising from:

Americans unable to separate politics from reality an essay by gjohnsit on the FP.

I have no doubt Trumps believes in his own myths, bigly!

He is so super-smaht that nobody is smahter, hugely!

Couple this with his belief in the art of the con [deal] then we have one easily manipulated individual.

His own monologues of his greatness speak to a crying infant inside, his need for the biggest, greatest crowds, ever! speak of an embedded insecurity.

Now when you spoon feed this type of personality what he wants to hear then manipulation becomes child's play, enter Steve Bannon and Co.

Surround him with yes men and a news agency that will say anything and you get a puppet. Remember also Trumps varying positions over the years mainly due to the need of his own ego.

His belief in himself is rock solid, anything contrary a personal insult, greatest! These type of personalities often come hand in hand with the manipulators, history is littered with them, squirrelling around in the background and pulling the strings. Just make sure the beast is fed. Make sure his twitter feed is followed by gah-squillions.

Con Men are as American as Apple pie and equally popular, easy D!

The narcissist allows the con man to believe his own con, always failed by others, never at fault. Good news will be theirs, bad will be fake at best.

Trump is far from being unique, but as Presidents go he appears to be one without a hint of self-control, weak! When found out or held to account I expect a Nixonian type result with added frothing at the mouth sprinkles in public/twitter.

Watch for signs of cracks in the facade, Nixon's became apparent in his signature, that this president's decline will appear in his tweets is my best bet.

When everything is in excess expect the worst as the pressure takes its toll, the bunker mentality does not require an actual bunker. The hangers on better watch out as well they be the first cast to the wolves.

My bet, the weakest President in our short history has taken office, the damage is already being done, how many he takes down with him are another matter. Making Xenophobia and sexism permissible were mere stepping stones. The handing of the Middle-East over to the military and climate change to the fossil fuel junkies are just the first steps. Onto tax reform! There at least he will have some allies on the other side of the aisle, re: talks about gutting consumer protection in a bipartisan festival of neo-liberalism.

whose military ordered the air strikes ramped up in Mosul so there isn't time for careful aim. The US airstrike killed 200 civilians the highest death toll from a US strike since the 2003 invasion.

But Bannon has taken over on the Repeal and Replace of ACA. Overall he is the puppet master. Trump's too busy playing golf to care.

@MarilynW
would be much different in Mosul if Her was Potus. The only difference would be that the NYT would have smaller and fewer pictures with no mention of "deaths" in headline. The game plan was set during the Obama administration.

Now that the Dems are playing second fiddle, we will be seeing a reprise of the anti-war movement.

Except for the nukes, of course.

Psychopathy is not a political position, whether labeled 'conservatism', 'centrism' or 'left'.

A tin labeled 'coffee' may be a can of worms or pathology identified by a lack of empathy/willingness to harm others to achieve personal desires.

@MarilynW @MarilynW Give the guy a break. Geez. He hasn't been in office 100 days yet. Look how good Obama became with a few years' practice--he dropped our entire bomb supply against Syria so we could "rescue" them (the Syrians, not the bombs). No, I am not a Donny Tinyhands fan. Heck I bet the Trumposaurus hasn't killed a thousand innocent civilians yet--give him time.

They wanted Trump to be the nominee.
They got him.
They lost.

Hey, at least he wasn't the proven and eager Mad Bomber. And his being nuts in a wilder manner might have slowed down our global demise a bit, might even provide an opening in time.

Where there's life, there's hope - only the time limit's kinda tight with the increased rush on for-profit killing off the remains of the poisoned and rapidly dying interdependent global life support system.

all 535 of them, IMO*--plus former Congressional Democrats, plus most Democratic officeholders at the state and local levels did the same thing as the DNC. Many print and broadcast media outlets gave the assist by freezing out Bernie, by writing condescending pieces about him, etc. and by endorsing Hillary. Many unions also endorsed Hillary. So did Republicans like Kristol.

Even while DNC chair, Rep. Disgraceful Debbie Wasserman Schultz didn't have that much clout. IMO, this was bigger than the DNC.

*I included Representatives Ellison and Grivalja and Senator Merkley because, IMO, their endorsements were part of the overall plan.

A lot of copies his book early book Six Crises were signed by auto pen. I have found five or six signed copies over the years. He may have been lazy from the beginning. His changing signature may have been a time factor rather than increasing laziness. I've seen many rushed signatures changed to an easier faster mode. Once had Harlan Ellison sign a book on the top edge he was in such a hurry. Didn't even bother to open it.

In his story "If This Goes On"

For us to get possibly the worst candidate ever.

I guess he just guessed wrong when the incumbent would be so hideously bad as to turn away enough voters to let the crazy man in.

If the establishment hadn't run a better con-man we might be saying that he was 4 years EARLY.

I do not pretend I know what I do not know.

distinguishable, perhaps especially in foreign policy.

In practice, what is the huge difference between Hillary and McCain, other than the religious sector of his base will not allow him to be even a little pro-choice or pro-equal rights for members of the LGBT community? (Her record on those same two issues has been mixed, to say the least.)

During the 2008 primary, Hillary all but said, "If Obama gets the nomination, vote for McCain. Your life depends on it." (Senator McCain and I are ready for the 3 a.m. phone call; Senator Obama is not.)
