Billboard "stop doing regime changes"

open thread_91.jpg

I'm reading about another large contingent of migrants coming across Mexico to our southern border. I believe in the need to have so form of control over who comes into this country if for no other reason than to keep terrorists out. I have always thought that migrants have had a bad effect on wages in this country, and have witnessed in SoCal how the construction trades have been infiltrated by young, hardworking, but low paid inexperienced workers.
We can help solve the border crises by taking these steps;
1 Stop sanctioning, blockading, sabotaging, and robbing 3rd world countries.
2 Help and encourage 3rd world people to live productive lives on their own lands.
3 Remove dysfunctional, corrupt leaders instead of installing them.
4 Stop allowing corporations to use our military to pillage and plunder resource rich 3rd world countries for their own profit.
5 At least make them pay the trillion dollar annual defense bill or share the booty.
6 End taxation for any American earning under 100k a year, including property taxes and bring back the 90% tax rate from the New Deal era.
7 Break up the banking cartel and reduce them to "Baby Bells" (banks).
8 End our global military presence and bring our troops home to man the border.
Consider this my New Years wish list.
Add what you want, the thread is open.

A million immigrant voters will not get the zombie in chief re-elected.
The living standard in the US are going down as fast as the deficit goes up.
Tax the rich, close the door and reign-in the military. Maybe salvage the next
generation?

thanks for the billboard!

I agree that the first step in limiting immigration is to stop destabilizing Latin American countries. But it appears we are facilitating flights of Asians, African, and so on into Central and South America and busing them to the border.

A new record number of illegal immigrants just crossed the U.S. southern border. War correspondent Michael Yon is in the Darien Gap in Panama

I can't help but think something sinister is afoot.

Thanks for the OT.

@Lookout
is what Michael Yon implied regarding the path being created for Palestinians driven from Occupied Palestine to the U.S. border, along with South American migrants, most of which are young military aged men. Are they to be given citizenship for service in the US military?
Are they to be used for escalation against Russia? Cannon fodder?
It fits the MO of this regime.

Only the moneyed sent their kids to "high" school.
When it became apparent that American kids were far behind their European counterparts did they start public high schools.
It has clearly reached that conundrum again and our kids should have a free public college education backed up with a modernized apprenticeship program for the construction trades AND industrial manufacturing processes.
We have entrepreneurs up the ying yang.
We need people who can build stuff.

under dysfunctional corrupt leaders remove them themselves. It isn't our call, nor or job, nor do we have any right to do that shit. It is also a slippery suit. Everybody we ever got rid of was a "bad guy" in our book, since we can't be trusted to make the call correctly, we should not interfere with other governments; we've got enough problem players right here at home.

from abroad to the southwest border makes sense.
Take, say half, of the military base population and
transfer them to encampments where "the wall" is
supposed to be. The flow of undocumented immigrants
would slow right down. Then, shuffle another 1/4 of the
grunts to "help" customs in arrival locations away from the
leaky border, like air and sea ports. Use the military 'intelligence'
units to track down the dangerous million already dispersed.

Some kind of security may be re-established? Ship them back to
wherever they came from IMO. Taking care of us legal residents
should hold precedence.

@QMS Thanks for letting me know QMS. I agree somewhat with the comment below from a regular over at TK's discord on the new raising dogs for meat law. This is not the kind of social or custom issue I would comment on usually. He said-

Totally unnecessary - market forces were going to make this inevitable anyway

I think it's mostly cultural change. South Koreans have assimilated the western custom regarding dogs as pets ( 애견 愛犬 ) . Demographics are facilitating the change as well, as the older generations are more likely to adhere to the custom of eating dog. Market forces on the other hand may act in the other direction because of the difficult economy in South Korea even in good times. (They don't call it hell Chosun for nothing). So unscrupulous people raise dogs in rural areas for consumption because they find it a way to make money with little skill and relatively low costs as the dogs are treated terribly. Ms. So says dog meat is expensive and restaurants selling it, are harder to find than in the past.

There is a genre of pet videos broadcast on South Korean tv and youtube devoted mostly to dogs, the plight of abused dogs, abandoned dogs, neglected dogs, dogs with severe injuries or disabilities, and also people who love their wonderful dogs, and vets and other volunteers who save dogs and try to restore their lives. Dogs as pets in South Korea are extraordinarily popular. Ms. So watches these programs often. I found the dog psychologist show the most interesting. I can't bear to watch the programming on abandoned, mistreated and neglected dogs and how they are saved or not sometimes by volunteers.

Why wait three years? As far as Kim Gon-hee and Yoon getting credit for this, by putting this off for three years, it costs conservatives nothing before the election, while Yoon cuts important social welfare budgets and he and his spouse try to avoid independent investigations. This is in the same category-

Kim Gon-hee wife of South Korea's President Yoon Seok-yeol, poses in Cambodia, Audrey Hepburn style as a woman with compassion. This staged photo shoot, no doubt, was arranged in a fruitless attempt to reverse her unpopularity.

Nothing is going to save Kim Gon-hee and Yoon from their just deserts. They are corrupt and cynical.

I enjoyed the OT, e1. I hope your New Year is going great.
We typically have 7 to 10 winter days where the temp goes below 32 deg. Next 10 days may bring 7, and we have already had 2, tonight being No. 2. This will be an unusually cold winter.
Hope you and yours are cozy and warm!

beginning with lowering the age to 55, and then start ratcheting it down every so many years until everyone has healthcare. Raise the payroll tax if needed, but young people don't use medical services that often so it could even out somewhat.

@earthling1 funded by raising taxes on the top 10%, or even the top 1%. Regulating pharma drug prices would damn sure help. Prices for drugs should be very highly regulated and attached to the cost of producing them. (Epipens and the rich bitch who's family owns the patent comes to mind.)
