Bill Clinton's Jobs Plan for Detroit, MI

My birthplace, Detroit, MI, has seen some rough times in the past couple of decades. NAFTA and the entry of China into WTO eviscerated autoworker jobs in the city and left in their wake an unemployment rate of 11.6%. While a substantial improvement from the 22.1% peak 3 years ago, it's still nothing to be proud of.
Never fear, though. Bill Clinton has a solution to Detroit's jobs crisis: Bring in Syrian refugees to rebuild houses in the city.
No, this is not a joke.
At a February meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative (video above), former president Bill Clinton said:
Detroit has 10,000 empty, structurally sound houses—10,000. And lot of jobs to be had repairing those houses. Detroit just came out of bankruptcy and the mayor’s trying to do an innovative sort of urban homesteading program there. But it just gives you an example of what could be done. And I think any of us who have ever had any personal experience with either Syrian Americans or Syrian refugees think it’s a pretty good deal.
Apparently, tens of thousands of unemployed Detroiters don't need jobs. Or perhaps these are jobs that Detroiters don't want to fill because they have so many better opportunities in their dysfunctional city. Or maybe those unemployed Detroiters aren't the right kind, you know, they're not Hillary Clinton's "hard-working Americans, white Americans".
Shockingly, Donald "The Hitler" Trump is trying to turn this into a political issue. He had the nerve to criticize Hillary Clinton about her lifelong, undying support for People of Color. On August 18th, Trump blathered:
Hillary Clinton would rather provide a job to a refugee from overseas than to give that job to unemployed African-American youth in cities like Detroit who have become refugees in their own country.
Where does Trump come up with such nonsense? He just makes stuff up, amirite? Doesn't he just pull stuff out of his ass without a care in the world as to truthiness? After all, everybody knows Trump is crazy and the Clintons would never support anything that didn't put Americans first. As long as those Americans are named Clinton.

We have an example of how this would work. Iraq/Aspen.
In rebuilding the infrastructure we destroyed, the US subcontracted to foreign companies for the rebuilding. What the contractors did was import non-Iraqi labor to do the work. One of the biggest and most effective recruitment tools was offering a good salary for men who joined up as fighters.
Aspen's resorts had a problem--the free labor market. Seems supply of resort workers limited and given the market laws, wages went up. Aspen resort owners would have none of that and imported seasonal foreign labor. I forgot the visa under which they were allowed to come. Basically the resorts first pervert labor markets which under capitalist dogma, control wages. And they did it by a captured and indentured labor force.
This the the guy Hillary wants to assume some bullshit economic czarship. His solution to American unemployment. Hire fundamentally people who pervert labor markets and are in a sense scabs.
Which is not to blame the refugees. They along with us are just pawns to be used against each other.
Our governor wants to bring in immigrants, but
not the kind you need to feed and train. He wants H1B IT, engineers, and other high skilled immigrants to meet our corporate needs and help gentrify the city.

Go to any employment website (Indeed, CareerBuilder, etc.) and look at the IT listings, then look at the job requirements. Many companies have made it literally impossible for American workers to get hired. Even more so for people with disabilities who can't drive because many of those same postings also require drivers' licenses.
Modern education is little more than toeing the line for the capitalist pigs.

I found it odd that Detroit's unemployment rate was cut in half during the past 3 years. Do you have any idea what accounted for this? A massive surge in hiring? People leaving the labor force?

I hear tell it has also had a major population crash, as those who have been able to leave, have left.

I'd think the opposite would occur.
Those that can leave, left, taking their jobs with them. Only the least employable and least mobile residents would remain behind.
Donald's crazy--but he isn't always wrong
Translation: if you like NAFTA, you'll love SyrFTA. Atta way, Bill, what a great way to re-employ American citizens--hire foreigners who would probably accept $1 per hour to just get the hell out of Syria. So, what happens to the labor price? What happens to the Americans desperately in need of a job? Oh, I almost forgot, Bill, you don't give a F**k, because your corporate masters would like to disguise their wage-slavery as humanitarian relief.

To be "fair," all those people working all those jobs will spend
money locally, allowing the creation of even more jobs.

My current guy friend made $127,000 after taxes last year. He is trying to get me to ditch the computer chips and join him since I have that skill as well. He is currently getting 10 calls for every job he has time for.
I would gladly teach a kid of any color to build or remodel a house. It's a righteous survival skill.

They did the same shit in New Orleans and Haiti. Hired guest workers, rather than locals. War mongering has 3 benefits. It helps the military industrial complex. Israel likes it when it's neighbors are being slaughtered, and finally it creates refugees, to make the labour pool more desperate, so nobody gets uppity trying to raise standards.

Here's the thing about American Consumers
They don't give a flying swoosh about jobs. They just can't seem to fathom how their need for cheap shit drives jobs elsewhere.
They don't care about child slavery or captive labor.
Just look at all the happy, shiny people who are walking around with Nikes on. They pay hundreds of dollars for shoes made by a FOURTEEN year old.
