Awan Brothers Spy Scandal in Congress (Update added 10-2-17)

It has been a while since anyone has done an update on the Awan brothers spy scandal in Congress, so I thought I would attempt to sort it out as to what we know as of today. There are so many unanswered questions and much of the information has been suppressed by the authorities, so what we do know as of now is still sketchy.

Alligator Ed did a number of excellent essays on the scandal with great documentation in each of his essays. You can read some of them here, and here, and here, and here.

One of the problems in following the Awan brothers spy scandal is that every time we think we know where it is going, it takes an additional turn. It is like a labyrinth with many twists and turns and occasionally a dead end or two. We do not even know who the Awans are actually spying for at this point in the investigation. Add to that, the stonewalling by the Democrats in Congress, by governmental law enforcement officials, and by the US Attorney's office of the District of Columbia, which has made verifiable information very scarce. However, if the Awans were actually spying for a foreign entity, this has the potential to be the single greatest scandal in Washington, far eclipsing Watergate. The problem is finding enough untainted or uncompromised people in Washington to bring all the information on this story out into the sunlight.

Here are the major players in the scandal. Imran Awan, a Pakistani born IT specialist who has worked for at least 80 different Congress persons since around 2005 and who is considered to leader of the spy ring. In addition to Imran Awan, there is Hina Alvi, his wife; Abid Awan, his brother and Abid's Russian wife Natalia Sova; Jamal Awan, another brother of Imran Awan; and Rao Abbas, Imran Awan's close friend who is also from Pakistan. So far, none of these persons has been charged with any crimes except Imran and his wife Hina Alvi have been charged with bank fraud.

Among the Congress persons that the Awans worked for were Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Gregory Meeks, Andre Carson, Yvette Clarke, and Xavier Becerra. Some of these Representatives have already played a key role in attempting to hide or thwart the investigation into the Awan spy ring. Alligator Ed has previously covered some of the information about roles that Debbie Wasserman Schultz and Gregory Meeks have played in this scandal. What is very curious is how no Democratic representative has commented on the Awan case and most act as if they never heard of it. The question is why are the Democrats avoiding this scandal and the Republicans are barely cognizant of it? Imran Awan had top security clearance and was the IT person for several members who served on House Foreign Affairs or Homeland Security committees. This alone should warrant concern by the members of Congress.

So far the best coverage of this scandal has been by George Webb, a gadfly video reporter and investigator who literally walks the streets testing his theories as to what is going on. He documents his work on YouTube videos that he uploads several times a day. In the written media, Luke Rosiak of the Daily Caller has been doggedly following this story, often dovetailing his articles with new information that George Webb has uncovered. Both George Webb and Luke Rosiak have been widely criticized for their work on the Awan brothers case. Webb for his methodology in which he develops a working theory as the basis for conducting his investigation and Rosiak for publishing what many are calling "conspiracy theory." However, they are far ahead of the main stream media which seems to want to suppress this story.

I am linking two separate timelines with embeds and links to sources for those who wish to explore this criminal scandal further at this point in time.

The first link is to a timeline site posted at Medium.com. This site was compiled from multiple sources and is continuously updated as new information becomes available. The site gives a running narrative in chronological order and then provides a listing of links separately.

The second timeline which I am linking is based upon George Webb's Youtube posts. It is more detailed than the first timeline and all the materials are embedded within the timeline. I have not studied and compared both timelines, but on the surface, they appear to agree with one another on the major points.

Meanwhile the mainstream media has avoided this story for months. For example, the Washington Post has ignored this story even though it is occurring in their own back yard. Finally the WaPo was forced to address it by publishing a recent puff piece on Imran Awan discrediting the idea that he was a spy, complete with a GQ photograph of the handsome Pakistani. This paragraph is just an example of how the WaPo has tried to down play this story.

Yet, according to a senior congressional official familiar with the probe, criminal investigators have found no evidence that the IT workers had any connection to a foreign government. Investigators looking for clues about espionage instead found that the workers were using one congressional server as if it were their home computer, storing personal information such as children’s homework and family photos, the official said.

(my bolding added)

The claim made by the Democrats in the WaPo article prompted an immediate response article by Luke Rosiak of the Daily Caller which quickly debunked the idea of the information being the Awan children's homework. I highly recommend everyone read Rosiak's entire article.

Democratic congressional aides made unauthorized access to a House server 5,400 times and funneled “massive” amounts of data off of it. But there’s nothing to see here, Democrats told The Washington Post: They were just storing and then re-downloading homework assignments for Imran Awan’s elementary-school aged kids and family pictures.

To demonstrate just how much information was being downloaded from the House server, Rosiak goes on to write that it was in the terabytes range of data.

A terabyte is a million megabytes; a terabit is about one-tenth of that. Awan’s three children are in elementary school or younger. A book report in Word document format could clock in at under a megabyte, even if it were 100 pages long. To fill a terabyte with family photos, a person would need 250,000 photos.

The investigation into the Awans began in 2016 and a grand jury was convened in November 2016 which indicted Imran Awan and Hina Alvi on four counts of bank fraud. The indictments were surpressed for several months during which time it was believed that someone in Congress alerted Awan of the pending indictments. Shortly after the grand jury handed down the indictments, Imran Awan and his wife began liquidating all their business holdings and other assets such as houses they owned and wiring the proceeds to Pakistan.

Hina Alvi abruptly left the country in early March along with their three children. She was stopped at the airport by FBI and Capitol Police and despite carrying $12,400 in cash, more than allowed by law, she was allowed to leave the country. Later on July 24, Imran Awan was arrested at the Dulles airport as he tried to flee the country.

Awan was arrested in July at Dulles International Airport as he tried to flee the country, and federal officials stopped Alvi at Dulles in March. Despite the fact she had a bag of $12,400 in cash on her, authorities allowed her to board and leave the country to Qatar, according to a U.S. District Court Document.

Immediately after his arrest, Imran Awan retained Chris Gowan as his attorney. Gowan is very close to the Clintons, having served in Bill Clinton's administration and later as Bill Clinton's personal attorney. He also worked on Hillary Clinton's 2008 Presidential campaign. Meanwhile Hina Alvi has been working on a deal in which she will agree to return to the United States in return for some form of immunity.

On a personal note, I am very leery of immunity deals after what the FBI did with all the Clinton people in the email scandal where no one got charged. Not even Huma Abedin who clearly violated the terms of her immunity deal and she still walked.

Update: This just came across my Twitter feed. The corruption runs very deep and across party lines. If you go to the video, the pertinent conversation begins shortly after the 2:30 mark.

Jason Chaffetz is singing now that he is out of Congress. This one surprised me.

with yoga and a wedding. My wild guess is the R's
aren't pursuing this cuz the Awan Clan also got
info on them through the clowngressional puters.

Rather than be accountable in any way shape or
form, theyd much rather screw the country, it's
so much easier.

the Republicans aren't interested in this scandal because the Awans were working for them, I mean on behalf of them, as spies for them, not as IT assistants for them.

Wth? And you or I could get pulled over for a broken blinker and have $100 cash confiscated as drug money?

And, does it make me a racist or nationalist, to wonder why someone from another country is able to have such high clearance within our own government? Again, I could never obtain that level.

The big tell, though, as has been stated here before, is the Clinton attorney by his side.

Has a great answer:

In March, Comey and McCabe Blocked the Arrest of Imran Awan’s Wife As She Was Fleeing the Country to Pakistan

These new revelations of high-placed leaks flowing from multiple branches of the government follow similarly disturbing news that when Awan’s wife was preparing to flee the United States to Pakistan, the FBI’s efforts to arrest her were blocked by now-fired ex FBI director James Comey and Andrew McCabe, deputy FBI director.

Why would Comey allow this to happen even though he knew it was a felony to leave this country with more than $10,00?
This article has a lot of great information about the FBI's involvement with Mrs. Awan.

Many websites have been covering this affair in great detail since we became aware of this.
This type of reporting is going to be in jeopardy if net neutrality passes and this is one of the biggest reasons why they are trying to pass it. But until it does pass, Google is doing their part of neutering alternative news websites.

Here are two of the websites I have been reading.

DeepensMedia Silent As Awan Scandal Deepens

FBI Suspects Members of Congress Leaked Grand Jury Indictment to the Awans; DOJ Officials Possibly Implicated Too

Thanks for covering this again, gulfgal. Will we ever see this go to court and become a big enough story that the msm can't continue to cover up? With all the big named people involved in this (hint:the Clintons) if it does, it will be much bigger than the Russian interference with the election crap ever was.

@snoopydawg The revelations on the sites you posted are what I believe to be the truth or closer to the truth than what we are being told.

This is very much deep state and if it is, then the Clintons are very much involved. In my post today, I did not reveal much of what I believe to be the truth because I want people to read and decide for themselves. But what you have posted is close to what I believe to be the truth.

Alvi purchased the Lorton home in 2008 for $470,000 form Avelo Mortgage with less than three percent down payment, records show. The sale price of the home was almost $400,000 lower than the previous sale of $840,000. Avelo at the time was the residential mortgage arm of Goldman Sachs, generous and longtime personal and campaign benefactors of Hillary Clinton and the Democratic National Committee which was previously chaired by Wasserman Schultz.

Goldman Sachs? $370,000 discount on a home sale in a desirable area? 3% down? My, my. That Pakistani emigre sure got the golden treatment. She got the gold. Who got the treatment? What is not clear to me is why Hina Alvi returned to the US. The fact that husband Imran was in the Graybar Hotel is immaterial. What kind of deal has been made. Is she going to get limited immunity for herself and hubby by returning to spill the beans? I sure hope she doesn't use Fentanyl or do bench presses or take midnight walks on the beach.

I believe that this story, if it is ever fully revealed, will dwarf Iran Contra and shake the roots of our national self image. Though it may involve massive transfers of classified information to foreign entities, it is just as likely to reveal the significant involvement of key elected representatives, as well as elements within tha CIA, FBI, JTTF, etc. in a complex web of illegal arms, drugs, kidnapping, bribery, prostitution, pedophelia, spying and money laundering.

It goes without saying that both "sides" of our duopoly, our lapdog MSM, and the oligarchs driving the bus will be working overtime to either ignore, mischaracterize or discredit the story and those who pursue it. The story is too big for Sy Hersh, so it's probably too big to fit on our TV screens, a Twitter post or a bumper sticker. It is a Quixotic but compelling effort to reveal of our great national train wreck using meta data and internet based crowd sourcing methods. I've never seen anything quite like it before.

@ovals49 are one thing, but I have not heard mention yet of the blackmail potential of all the information the Awan brothers had on congresspersons and others. I may be taking a giant leap, but I tend to think this was the purpose for which the Awan's were originally hired by DWS and the Clinton cabal - and that things spun out of control.

The Awans now have PLENTY on DWS and Clinton cabal associates, which is why DOJ and FBI are behaving so badly and why the American public is, for the most part, unaware of this heinousness. There is plenty of evidence the Clintons have thrown allies under the bus in the past - a dead man's switch would provide protection against such a thing. And why not let these sleazy, greedy little Pakistanis go down while limiting the case to financial crimes and allowing a little national security breach into the mix? That would certainly take the heat off the real deep state crimes that put it all into motion in the first place.

Well, don't listen to me, because that is all surmise. But I can assure you that without a good cleanup at the DOJ and FBI, this will get as small legs as possible and they won't walk far.

@gustogirl
Check out his YouTube Day 348.1 and 378.2 (mislabeled) both uploaded this morning. So many pieces coming together, and it's not all focused on espionage, it's Iran-Contra on steroids. Drugs, weapons, underage sex and powerful people put in compromising positions to keep the wheels well greased.

I hope Webb can stay alive long enough to complete the puzzle. If not, there are others and a trove of metadata to build on.

Have been watching his older videos today. For some reason Youtube won't allow me to go back past about a year ago. Not all of his earlier videos are numbered, but I wanted to go to the very beginning. Apparently, no can do, at least on a droid. The earliest I can get to is a bit before like #74 or something like that.

Literally just watched one I wanted to link to about the program used to stalk, harass and sometimes drive people to suicide. He actually mentioned active shooters - and made me feel not so crazy for thinking Manchurian Candidate about Vegas.

If I tried to link to it, I'd lose my place in his lineup on his youtube channel, and that took forever to scroll, scroll, scroll to almost get to the beginning, because YouTube forces me to leave the site (on an android) in order to go to another open tab, so I can paste the link. Actually pulled out the kindle to post this.

Well crap - I screwed up, so I'll paste the link in an edit after I post this. Sad

Checking down one of the two time line you linked I came across:Awan accused of malevolent anti-Bernie activities.

There is evidence now that a least one of these brothers was helping her do the Bernie Sanders malevolent activities, trying to manipulative things against him that actually helped her do things like voice change calls, they actually did all other things which and then --

The following is not my conclusion but I feel it is likely correct. As DWS was at the time of Seth Rich's murder head of the DNC and Imran Awan worked for her in probably both capacities: Congress and DNC. The Shaffer interview suggests strongly that the "malevolent actions" against Bernie involved Awan, it is quite possible that Awan arranged for the murder. If true, DWS and a lot of DNC'ers may go down as accomplices.

I hope the Clintons go to prison for their involvement, but NOPE. Probably not. HOPE, heh.

Every time Xavier Becerra is mentioned it kicks my guts. There is a comment in the BNR with another deleted MSNBC video (they really went through every BNR and scrubbed 'em all? weirdos). It was a clip of him out stumping for Clinton in his district, asking a young deli server why she supported Bernie and then responding with a scold: "you don't know how hard we had it in the 90s". He said that on the same day Clinton was bragging how great the 90s were, her husband's economy and all that, we were gonna get a "two-fer". He is one slick lawyer I guess, replaced Kamala Harris as AG. Same same.

Becerra is a giant Clinton tool, always hasbeen, always will be. If folks want to end corruption in politics, put him on the purge list for sure.

Thanks gulfgal98 for the update and all of the links and comments. Intrigued, keep going.

good luck
