Hi guys!

I missed the last couple primaries on here due to a combo of personal and a family members health issues so I figured I would check and see if someone had already jumped in to fill the void while I was gone.

If not, we can do it again tonight on this thread or if someone is doing a better one just let me know and I will jump in!

Regardless of local, I look forward to watching the returns with you tonight! (Although I don't know if I will make it through to Hawaii being EST, lol!)

We are not the most politically correct family when it comes to

language.

For example, I was watching it with my wife and she looked over at me and saw that I actually was getting happy tears from that video and just goes, "Fag..." but with a smile.

She seems to say that a lot to me lately, I guess Sanders really does touch a nerve with me.

(Oh, for the record, neither of us are remotely homophobic, I have actually performed a gay marriage and she spent the night with some of her friends at a gay bar Thursday, lol!)

Jesus, after typing that disclaimer I just realized that it probably wasn't even necessary as I ain't at the GOS anymore and don't have to fear a bunch of assholes pouncing on me for every perceived slight.

Most of the lesbians that I have been particularly close with

were usually significantly older than me, so that was never an issue to begin with. ( a fellow C/O and her spouse, the other was a close friend of my mother that was basically family that I still visit every time I fly back to Jersey.)

There was one that was a dealer that I was casually friendly with, like we hung out at the bars and such and she was VERY attractive but there was no "attraction?". Pretty much the same as when hanging out with a handsome male friend.

The only time it became an issue was when I was making points with this one girl and then she ended up swooping in and taking her home! lol!

Good thing my ego doesn't bruise easily or that coulda hurt...

It's a funky little town in SE AZ

Former copper mine. Closed. Big hole in the ground. Lots of old buildings from about 1904. Lots of ageing hippies moved in after the miners moved out...in 1974-ish. Large LGBT population (well, a substantial portion of a small population, actually). 23 miles from anywhere, (or nowhere), 5300 feet up in the mountains. Little dot of Bernie blue in a sea of red.

Yeah, I grew up on the Atlantic, but moved to the High Desert

back around '90 (well, Tahoe first actually). and loved it, but the sea always called to me and I spent every vacation on the water as much as I could.

I may go back to visit for a month or so here and there, but only in the summer.

That's because they don't really understand.

They are more concerned with rules than actual relationships. They need the rules because they don't know how to act otherwise. But then it turns into controlling everyone else because they don't have the real heart. (BTW, that makes me think that's why Hillary has to imitate because she doesn't actually know on her own what's right unless she sees it in others.) Both Liberals and Conservatives fall into the trap too. Actual Progressives and true Libertarians don't like rules for the sake of rules, which is why sometimes they actually agree on some things and why Bernie was able to sometimes work with Ron Paul on some things.

I've noticed this in almost every organization and churches are especially bad and it's these types of people that tend to ruin everything. They try to force rules on everyone else because that's what they think is right, but they don't realize the spirit of the rule. If you read Gospels, you can find so many examples where Yeshua (aka Jesus) is admonishing people by following rules too much. One point he says, "The law was made for man, man was not made for the law."

I have recently been thinking along those lines. Best I could do was "they don't need relationships", the whole Community aspect is kind of a put-on for those who work for the blog (whether they work remotely or they work in "an office at Headquarters"). All 44 of them, in all likelihood, have actual relationships "elsewhere". In other words, GOS is "work" to those "regulars" toeing the "Official Bylines" motifs. That's where the need for "rules" manifests.

I wish I could find the words (and still sound like I knew what I was talking about) to describe my thoughts on "social engineering" and that particular blog. It starts getting sort of creepy if I think about it too much....

I think they want the relationships

But they don't know how to act, their personalities require the rules to know how to act and then the rules become what's important in those relationships. They fear loss of control and fear chaos. When people who don't need the rules are around and don't go exactly by the rules they feel are necessary, they become lost and fearful and that's when they try to enforce the rules even more. It's personality type (I'm an INFJ) for some and some it's pathological.

Their hope is that if they tread "the straight and narrow" path laid out by the priestly class, which interprets the holy books and thus secures its own power within the hierarchy and control over the masses, and things go badly, they're following god's plan and will be rewarded. Just not now, later.

I think you're on to something about rules vs. relationships. May have something to do with how well certain people handle chaos and uncertainty vs. what's orderly and familiar. There are people who rarely question anyone or anything, and others who naturally question many to most things.

Bernie should do really well I hope, he tends to do so at caucuses, but I am kinda against them in general as a feel they disenfranchise those with physical disabilities or health conditions that preclude them from participating.

Two of us showed up at our caucus site

my friend with a cane and me with O2. We were the only ones in our apartment complex who bothered to show. This is an apartment complex for those 62 and older. Our precinct went 17 to 6 for Bernie. The next precinct over (there were three precincts in the gym there) went 36 to 12 for Bernie and I don't know what the 3rd precinct came in at.

We all need to come together and do everything we can to make this happen, because the alternative is pretty bleak...

I know it can be tough so I applaud anyone that has physical difficulties for taking part in a caucus, it's one of the reason I am against the process in general as it disenfranchises or otherwise places barriers between those that have physical impairment from exercising their right to vote for their candidate.

This wasn't a position I always held, I kinda liked the idea when I lived in Nevada, but it simply never occurred to me until I got a spinal cord injury myself which occasionally prevents me from leaving the house for a week or so at a time but i'd make my wife roll me in a wheel Barrow to vote for Bernie.

Our caucus

Opens at noon on Maui, and we were advised to get there early as they anticipated a large turnout. Rained hard yesterday afternoon/evening but beautiful day right now. Actual caucusing to start at 1pm, might last 4-5 hrs.

On a side note...

Just got back, still no updates from Washington.

A friend of mine swung by to help me texture a section of wall in my laundry room. (Finally put in the deep well sink that my wife had been pining for, man was that a bigger project than I anticipated, lol!)

So we get the sink disconnected and moved away from the wall as well as the washer, gather all the tools and open up the Spackle bucket and it is FULL of mold!

I am no construction pro, but WTF? I have never even HEARD of Spackle growing mold.

Anyone else ever see such a thing?

Well, needless to say, project delayed until I can run to the store and get another pail, lol! Back to watching the polls fail to update, lol!

so ... 10s of thousands came out for the rally

yesterday, but then only FIVE people came to the caucus in Garfield County? Only 13 in Columbia? Only 23 in Adams?

That may be delegate numbers.

Or percentage-of-a-delegate numbers. If you look at the returns by precinct for Maine, for instance, you see that same bizarrely low-number reporting. It freaked me at first, until I found the fine print that explained that it wasn't raw vote totals, which apparently Maine doesn't report at all.
