Album of the Week 7-16-22

Afternoon folks!

There's some great stuff for you all this week. There's a live album by Robert Jr. Lockwood with the Aces, a Clarence Gatemouth Brown album and Professor Longhair (with Clarence Gatemouth Brown). There's some blues rock with The Climax Blues Band, Rory Gallagher and a few tracks from a 1968 Traffic album (there might be more tracks in this playlist later).

Enjoy!

Hey Joe,

Great sheet mon! I have that vinyl Against the Grain. And a vinyl Blueprint too which was also great about the same time. That is what I consider the 'classic' lineup. McAvoy was a great bass player and could not have been more perfect for Rory.

Great Traffic and CBB...

thanks for the soundscapes!

Had forgotten about that Traffic tune - never listened with headphones before - great stuff.

First I ever heard of Gatemouth Brown was when a music-savvy acquaintance showed me some re-issue albums of his older material - I never had a chance to actually listened to them - covers of which showed GB in wide-lapel, Zoot-suit type costume doing crazy acrobatic splits and such onstage. Do those exist somewhere in the vaults of the JS collection?

Was fortunate to see GB in a small venue in Portland, OR and also Rory Gallagher at the Cellar Door in DC, Fall of 1972 - got to see Bonnie Raitt in the same place a bit later.

Unfortunately, Gatemouth Brown was severely ill with cancer and when Hurricane Katrina hit although they were able to evacuate him, most of his instruments, archival material and such were lost.
