our oligarchy has killed off the remaining primaries

by cancelling exit polling.

This was just in on Charnin's blog, which is referenced from Richard Winger's site:

http://ballot-access.org/2016/05/06/tv-networks-cancel-plans-for-exit-po...

"On May 6, they cancelled exit polls for the Kentucky Democratic presidential primary, and for both major party primaries in California and New Jersey."

Allegedly to save money by big TV networks which supply the exit polling data. Not going to be any good news from here on, looking like we're seeing the last stand of the Alamo now. It's rigged big time for Hillary to do major fraud in NJ and Cali.

exit polling kills off the remaining primaries tbh. It possibly makes it a little harder to ferret out Team Clinton cheating but that doesn't really change much.

The merchants of Public Information on United States television and radio broadcasts are posting such obvious lies and excuses. They'd better reinforce their little clubs, because sooner or later, someone's gonna get the bright idea to go after them.

but it's a pretty lame excuse for saving money. What about saving what's left of public trust and the democratic process?

Now they can push fraud probability up to 100%(or more, if that is statistically possible?). Make up any number they want to win the final few primaries.

I don't know how you ferret out the scams without data collection.

It's like disabling your water meter and telling the utilities to just trust me for the right number of gallons every month.

No money? And the millions that were spent on candidates who dropped out?!!

The exit polls have been so far off the voting totals, it is a virtual certainty that the voting machines are rigged.

There are known knowns; there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns – the ones we don't know we don't know.

and then the ballots are put through the scanner so there is a paper trail. We elected a really good Secretary of State, Debra Bowen, a number of years ago and she put in some safeguards against Diebold malfeasance. Unfortunately, she's been out of office for a while now, and it looks like independent voters will be deceitfully given provisional ballots instead of "cross-over ballots".

some years ago that the voting process had to be, in principle, understandable and verifiable by a lay person of average intelligence and education (that is, you shouldn’t have to be an IT expert).

They helpfully pointed out that, in practice, the only voting method satisfying this criterion is paper ballots marked with a pencil and counted the traditional way.

It is the old out-of-sight, out-of-mind tactic. If people don't have new exit polls to look at, they may forget about all the discrepancies of the prior ones, and there will be something thrown in to divert attention away from those.

I realize that no one wants to express the obvious. The abrupt removal of the exit polling process in the remaining state primaries has laid bare its built-in fraudulence. But most of us will not admit it.

The corporate media has canceled exit polling, “ to save money”. That excuse is an ultra-refined tapestry, a blatant lie for the general public. It's a laughable fabrication that the cultured elite appreciate by themselves.

Exit polling, like sampling data in a production line, is a cost-effective way to monitor margins of error in the final output. You don't have to check every item, there are millions at any given time. That's what random sampling from the population is doing.

Whoever is being paid to rig the votes against Sanders, sure, the money is no obstacle. Only when honesty and integrity is introduced, then it become too expensive.

But just pretend to admire the fine clothes the emperor is wearing!

The media's excuse about "saving money" is lame because they are awash in dough from superPacs during primary season and licking their chops over the prospect of $billions coming their way during the general election. Since they're "all in for Hill", it stands to reason the Clinton dirty tricks are moving through our democracy and tearing it to shreds. The Clinton Family Foundation, only operational if the Clintons are in power and can hoover up tribute payments, will not be denied.

the Clinton Foundation could pitch in and start immediately funding the remaining exit polling services, it would do a lot for remediation and atonement wrt their obvious scheming and secret deal-making.

Like maybe there's a miniscule trace of redeeming value left in their human souls. OTOH I think not, her track record suggests otherwise.

Again, if money was in fact an issue, there is all the more reason to use exit polling because it is random sampling, IOW you don't hand-count every vote, and it's scientifically accurate to confidence intervals of 90%, 95% or 99% based on your pre-selected thesholds.

Better yet, we could even go “six-sigma”! Wouldn't that make a nice campaign platform to run on? Well personally I think we can, America in fact has the financial resources to use a six-sigma process for its elections. Imagine that, we can certify ourselves as the most absolute purest form of democracy, a society where 99.99966% of all tabulated votes can be certified to be statistically free of defects!

Again there is nothing like good ole fashioned statistical quality control (SQC) to monitor 'unusual events' and to indirectly meter large production runs thru random sampling. It's been proven throughout the world to be very useful as an integral part of a country's election process, that is to say, including the field of exit polling.

The brillant man who devised exit polling, history credits not a mathematician or a statistician, but a Dutch sociologist Marcel van Dam in 1967.

In addition political science Prof. Kenneth F. Warren has enhanced this metric thru the scientific concept of Election Verification Exit Polling (EVEP). It is designed to target suspected precincts of vote fraud. Not surprisingly, EVEP and exit polling has been under unceasing attack. “In November 2004, at the same time that the Bush administration was testifying before Congress that exit poll results helped prove fraud in Ukraine elections, campaign officials sought to make exit polling illegal in the US."

based on the integrity of its elections?

I would initially tend to agree that both are in the same category. The US is about at DPRK levels in overall metrics of voting standards. Ignoring the fact that there are only 1 or 2 permitted parties on their respective ballots (Communist, Republican or Democrat) and ignoring the fact that only one person gets to run for the presidency in DPRK.

But in counting the votes and in adhering to basic world standards, the US is on par with N. Korea because both appear to reject exit polling at the official government levels.

The only source for DPRK that I can get is a recent article in NorthKoreaTimes.com which had a derogatory article against exit polling. OTOH it is widely known what the official Dem stand is on exit polling this year 2016. They detest it, they have cancelled it for the foreseeable future.

Rethugs are always at their best in denial-modes, mainly that such a thing can never do anything useful.

a dialect spoken by most oligarchs, entrenched government bureaucrats and modern facists, "no money" (for exit polling) is interpreted as "illegal". Don't take my word for it, ask any rightwing lawyer.

So that's it. Exit polling is officially "illegal" now. A full-bore dictatorship is due in short order. That most important and integral part of a democratic election is no longer sanctioned here.

However I believe that fleeing the impending fascist republic to the next "lesser evil", DPRK, that is false economy. Save your pennies for a different rainy day. Yes, although these facts suggest North Korea is marginally more robust as a democracy compared to US, wait it out. Their press is currently doing hit-pieces on the errors of exit polling. So Fearless Leader must be planning to declare exit polling punishable by execution with his mortar squad.

now that I read Richard Charnin's previous but updated (2012) blog:

https://richardcharnin.wordpress.com/2012/01/02/the-oregon-voting-system...

it points out the success of the Oregon's vote-by-mail system. And that Oregon has an excellent track record of fair elections based on mail-in votes and exit polling. I'm just curious though. How does Oregon actually do exit polling, when everyone is doing mail-in votes? Phone banking?

But more importantly, this was a closed primary which should have tremendously favored Hillary Clinton. It didn't. The relatively clean results in Oregon prove it, as far as can be surmised without any quality control.

Oregon established crushing evidence that she is going to be the ultimate loser, not just in Oregon but the whole country in general.

They are planning the moves in a chess game for most all possible scenarios, so cancelling exit polling in the last few states was a well thought-out strategic decision to protect their presumed nominee who now has to walk on thin ice.

Momentum is now turning toward Bernie with the remaining few states left. Which means a cornered animal, it is most dangerous when it is wounded.

stolen from Sanders in Charnin's May 15, 2016 blog:

https://richardcharnin.wordpress.com/2016/05/15/2004-stolen-presidential...

Numbers for 25 states, polling was suddenly shut down 19 May. So simple interpolation of existing amounts suggests at least 1 million votes will be stolen by end of California primary. So whatever that "3 million more votes" which Hillary was talking about, that was partially rigged because of closed primaries but the real amounts were from pure election theft. Based on simple statistical sampling.

I previously reported no exit polling for Oregon. This does not appear to true. Oregon data hasn't been available with margin of errors yet. This would be important to compare with previous 25 polls.
