Whoa! 91.41% of Bernie Sanders supporters will NOT support Hillary Clinton if she is nominee!

I have spent the last three months compiling data over three separate surveys. At 95% confidence, and within a 3.7% +/- margin of error, 91.41% of Bernie Sanders supporters will not be voting for Hillary Clinton if she is the Democratic nominee.

Now that I have your attention, let’s talk about why that is. Bernie Sanders supporters consist of a diversity of people, from all walks of life. Each demographic has their own motives, but essentially what it boils down to is that we disagree on a fundamental level about money in politics.

A lot of data and research went into this study. Even if results are a little high, this is devastating news for the DNC.

I encourage you to read the entire study. Lots of figures and graphs.

especially if at the top of your survey you write "This is a survey for disproving the "Only 25% of Bernie Sanders supporters WILL NOT vote for Hillary Clinton if she is the Democratic nominee" theory."

So what you have are people who see that and then fill out the survey because they agree with the idea of Bernie or Bust.

My guess is most people who voted (or will vote for) Bernie will vote for Clinton, due to the alternative(s) being worse or ineffectual.

"My guess is most people who voted (or will vote for) Bernie will vote for Clinton, due to the alternative(s) being worse or ineffectual."

I disagree. Strategically, President Trump is a better choice than putting the Clintons back in the White House. It is imperative to get the Democratic Party out of the clutches of the criminal Clintons/DLC/Third Way. No more dynasties. Even the Republicans were able to avoid that.

Still think there is a possibility of a President Sanders. If he isn't the nominee, I look with many for creating another way to change the political system to include another political party.
Short term consequence of a President Trump difficult, but not as impossible as the thought of Clintons back in the White House. Look how they behave now, hard to imagine how much worse if they are in the protected position of Executive Office.
Clinton Global Foundation should be enough to disqualify them from public office of any kind.

sorry. Strategy is going to figure in this time.

Some of you who think otherwise really, seriously need to reconsider this assumption. The Democratic Party has been a sham for the last 3 5 years and a lot of folks caught on this year, thanks to Sanders.

If he goes away, so do his voters. Bet on it.

The half dozen or so precincts my turf covers are running about 50/50, and I estimate about 75% of the Sanders supporters will vote Hillary if she is the nominee. I don't like it any more than you do, but this is what I'm seeing in a fairly Democratic CD14 in CA.

I would love for a polling outfit to have "Who did you vote for in your state's primary or caucus?" as an exit poll question. I may actually propose that to the group I am in planning to continue the movement.

At this point, though, the anger among people who are Bernie or Bust (I am in that group, by the way) is palpable. One has suggested that they don't think peaceful change is possible. I bet more than that are thinking it. I don't think things are to that point, but I do think we are possibly at a very dangerous moment in this country's history.

The peninsula of the Bay Area, including places like Hillsborough where a lot of wealthy people live. I'm hoping it's a bit different in the East Bay (Oakland and Berkeley) and North Bay(Marin, Sonoma). The whole upper portion above the Bay Area up to Oregon should give Bernie a lot of support. Also all the more conservative independents in the Central Valley and South of LA to San Diego can't vote for Trump (which doesn't matter anymore anyway) but can vote in the Democratic primary.

and vote for Clinton in the end...

but I suspect that an extraordinarily high number just won't. A great many habitual GOP voters will just say no to Trump as well. Clinton vs. Trump is the ultimate vote suppressor, far more effective than old-fashioned tactics like voter ID. Maybe nominating the two least popular candidates in the history of modern polling isn't the very best means of generating voter enthusiasm after all. A lot of potential voters will just shrug their shoulders and say "why bother?"

aware of actual fact, as opposed to "The Clinton Hate"? Because many folks like to conflate the two, like it's all bullshit and she's just the bestest candidate ever and never did anything wrong, when we all do know better than that Wink

If your GOP relatives are anything like mine, they might listen and they might not--I was just curious if you'd tried to clue them in or if the subject ever came up? I'd be curious to know. We have two "moderate" sorts in our family purview--one is still voting for Trump (yeah, well, we used to think of her as moderate??? I don't know if that vote disqualifies her or not, lol). The other is just flat-out abstaining from voting--which, we all tried to tell him he's nuts, but to him, "they both suck and I'm not perpetuating either one", etc.

depress the Independent turnout, turn out the mindless zombie and generational D "base," and, now apparently, syphon off just enough moderate R's to edge out a victory. It is one of the most cynical things I've seen in politics. And it makes fools out of any self-described liberal or progressive who votes for her.

but the newer voters among the millenials as well as the independents/no party preference folks have no brand loyalty. They'll either vote Jill Stein (if the Green Party takes advantage of the situation and gets an actual campaign going) or they'll sit out the election -- either way a Clinton candidacy will likely depress the vote in down-ticket races.

When someone like me, who's been a registered Dem since the 1980s (and only registered Republican in 1980 to vote against Reagan in the California Primary), seriously considers voting for a 3rd party, the DNC better damn worry about those meddling kids (and their dogs).

We know one young couple (both are college students) who would never vote for anyone but Bernie--no way, no how. But, these kids are quite comfortable. IOW, since their parents can easily afford to finance their educations, they will feel absolutely no financial pressure if a free education system doesn't materialize. (They've made it plain to us that this is their highest priority, as a political issue.)

Another young couple (also, students) that we know, has a great deal more in the way of financial obstacles and/or pressures. They don't really care for FSC--at all. But, it seems that they might be willing to accept her as Prez if she offers educational financial help. (I haven't closely followed 'what' her education policy is, but they have. I know that it's not as expansive.) It would be understandable, that some, especially youth voters, might feel that they have no choice (because of student loans). But, it's definitely a sad situation.

I certainly don't have a crystal ball, but if I had to guess, I'd figure that some older folks (i.e., Boomers) who've seen this Party grow so corrupt and corporatist over the decades, and who, in some cases, might have more financial security--'might' represent a fairly high number of the 1/3 [of Bernie Supporters] who are so emphatically opposed to her.

One thing I do know--none in our extended Family, of any age, will ever pull the lever for another Clinton.

Period. Full stop. End of story.

I agree that 91% seems high and the poll is not scientific. But I disagree that a majority of Sander's supporters will vote for Hillary. They are supporting Bernie because the system is broken and they want change. The Clinton's are the problem, putting another one in the White House will only perpetuate the problem for 8 years. Thinking of Trump as worse than Hillary is part of the political bogeymen politicians use. The Republicans push God, Guns and Gays! The Democrats push Abortion and Social Security! Both are part of a bygone era as voters don't trust either party.

No. For the Clinton Family Foundation to keep those donations rolling in, at least one of them has to be in power at all times. That's been key and explains why they moved to Chappaqua as soon as Bill left the White House - NY senator Moynihan was retiring and Hill had to establish residency and "run" for his seat. She didn't do much during her eight years in the Senate, but she did some nice "listening tours" and promised Upstate voters "jobs"! No jobs materialized, but then it was "her turn" to run for president. Well, too many voters hadn't gotten over the memory of Bill yet and Obama was so promising, literally, with his "hope and change" thing. So, Hill became Secretary of State and ka-ching! Pay-to-play was hatched. Now, Madame president is in the bag and even greater ka-ching!

I don't think Hillary has any actual policy agenda that she cares about. Her goal is and always has been simply to be in power. I don't see her walking away from it (voluntarily) after one term.

I fear she's more likely to get the country mired in another war in hopes of hanging on to that power for a second term. That worked for W, and she won't have much else to support a run for reelection.

In the corporate-controlled National Election Pool, their exit pollsters now will force a match to the recorded vote!

That's not quality control as I studied it in college. You don't alter your sampling data after the fact, to minimize perceived defects in manufacturing output. Your machines will continue to produce junk parts and tolerances will keep drifting even further from normal standards.

overall, the way I see it. I don't think I have ever been exit-polled in the state of Florida, even though I've lived here for over 20 years and have voted in several different jurisdictions (both as an early voter and a voter on Election Day). But that isn't a big deal, in and of itself--lots of people never get polled. But I have never even seen polling going on for anyone else, as I would leave whatever precinct I was voting at. Ever.

That's still anecdotal of course, but at the very least, it may indicate that there's not a lot of exit polling going on here, compared to other places. And that wouldn't be surprising, if true. If you don't have exit polls-or very few-how do you make a determination there might be shenanigans going on at all?

It's why I get so damned mad at all the "jokes" about "stupid voters" here. The problem, I'm convinced, isn't the voters--it's the people who count the votes!

I not sure of the validity of this data, but from my Washington State caucus experience- there is little love for Hillary by younger, newer or independent voters. There were several instances of loudly booing of her name, and people standing up and saying they would not vote for her under any circumstance. Moreover, in my precinct out of the 48 votes (which Bernie won 46 to 2), over 43 voters were younger than 35 years old and many of them said they were only there to support Bernie and no one else.

From my experience (both in normal politics and from this year), Hillary will have a tough time winning Bernie or Independent voters. She is just a very flawed candidate and person and the voters know it. The General Election should be very interesting- bring the popcorn and watch the show- it will be a battle to elect the least unpopular.

i choose to pull the trigger for clinton if she wins the election, which is going to depend on a whole lot of things, it's important that bernie supporters stand in some sort of solidarity against the DNC/clinton machine now. and later. and right up til november. these corrupt fucks that are running the democratic party into the ground need to know that they need to lose the moderate-right momentum if they're going to be a viable party in ten years. if clinton keeps trying to play baffle-them-with-bullshit, there's no fucking way i'm voting for her. she needs to take some positions and defend them, because i don't see how a candidacy born in a waffle iron is going to lift the weight vs. someone as self-assured and self-absorbed as donald trump.

7 million fewer people voted in 2012 than in 2008. I wish they'd have voted for Jill Stein or that Libertarian guy, just to show the disaffection for the two major party candidates.

Because fewer people voted it's really hard to tell if those were today's Bernie supporters. I guess, in general, it's not a good fit, comparing 2012 to 2016. Obama was unopposed on the Democratic side so there weren't all that many people who were bitter from a long primary season, like this year.

But overall I think a lot of people who weren't thrilled with Obama, or who actively disliked him, voted for him. Stein got a pathetic 400,000+ votes nationwide, less than Nader got in 2008 when we didn't really take much notice of him. At least I didn't.

We really have no idea what percentage will choose to not vote for Hillary. I think we won't really have a clue until after the convention. My instinct says, though, that she'll get fewer votes than Obama did in 2012, a year Obama got 4 million fewer votes than the election before.

other than that, what? our infrastructure is still crumbling. our candidate-to-be is still selling fracking and clean coal. the middle east, while clearly partly a carryover from the cheney admin, is now a fucking disaster. we were facing off with a cia-trained dirt farmer in afghanistan in 2002, now we're juggling pins with fucking russia and china.

Roughly one-third of all respondents took all three surveys. Either way, this isn’t rocket science. The numbers don’t lie. This train is coming and the choice you all will have to make is critical to the future of our country."

How were your respondents chosen? This is really crucial, as it determines whether your study has any validity or not. If they were self selecting, I'm sorry, but that throws the whole thing off. If not, how were they selected? We need to know.

I am resolved to hold out for Bernie, but the damage is irreparable. I now am looking for Green Party candidates to vote for, going back to NPA not a priority for me.

I'm not worrying about the Hillary/Trump dichotomy. The bigger problems are at present unsolvable. The planet is going to burn up no matter how little or how much a Pres. Sanders can do.

Sanders will offer psychological relief, if nothing else. Which would not exist for the other two corporate shills. Yes, Trump is ever bit a shill like Hillary.

There's an enormous burden on the millennials. Pumping massive and ever-increasing carbon emissions into atmosphere until Doomsday, this isn't the kind of world that promises a sustainable future.

I don't care what your sources are, they are wrong. We have this division within the party true, and I go to many Democrat meetings here in blue CA and I can tell you every Bernie advocate that says they won't vote for Hillary is laughed at or worse derided. I am a Bernie voter from the start but damn if I'll make the Supreme Court conservative for the next 20 years. Worse yet, Trump would destroy our nation and foreign allies. Thanks, but no.

...not that individual votes count... Stupordelegates for the primaries, Electoral Carbage for the actual election... though Killary's team is the first I've know to so blatantly, and apparently PROUDLY, disply just how terribly corrupt our Us elections ARE... Sad

Hi. Your survey is so great! I would love to share it and even link to it in a petition to the super delegates. But I feel that the commentary that's included between each graph is very vitriolic and would be a turn-off to the super delegates whom we're trying to convince... And the commentary makes the survey seem a bit less professional than it truly is. Would it be possible for you to repost the survey results without the commentary?
Thanks so much!
