Alpha's N.Y. Primary watchers Live Blog

Hi Guys!

Today is the day! I have been avoiding the news coverage all day (Baked cookies for the wife to take to work for her co-workers tonight and got caught up on Lucifer) so I wouldn't go crazy waiting for the results, lol! So if I missed something important fill me in!

I hope you guys join me, it may be a looong night. Smile

I will be watching TYT's Live stream and posting results as they come in.

I can understand why he would do so, not that I would agree with his reasons.

It would just be another thing I disagree with him on and it wouldn't change my decision not to vote for Hillary.

I honestly hope he goes for a third party/Independent run myself. Particularly if Jesse Ventura or some other indy jumps in on the conservative side. That could put Sanders in position where he could mount a strong third party candidacy.

Not because Sanders would be a bad person for endorsing the way he said he would, but because it would neutralize him politically for some time to come, if not permanently.

And, of course, because Hillary Clinton and her class are bags of shit Wink

We need a bold leader and an equally bold cadre of supporters to lay the ground for a permanent organization to develop a new party, one initially masquerading as an anti-neoliberal movement, possible as an explicit green/left coalition.

It would be nice to have Sanders included to help draw his supporters along, but he was right: is us, not him. The ideas, not the candidate.

And that's no criticism of Sanders as a person or politician, just a statement of what I think is needed next.

The future is Youth/Left/Green.

There's always that.....

But don't give up on Bernie just because he endorses HRC on the floor of the Clusterfuck Convention. After all, he needs to get his poor ass out of the building.

Then, he can do to Hillary what Hillary has done to us: ratfuck!

She tends to do better with the absentee ballots, and it would stand to reason that those would get reported earlier than the "Live" results so maybe that is why Bernie tends to come from behind on these.

You want to talk about divides in the Democratic primary? Look at the age and racial breakdowns in the exit polls. Sanders is winning voters ages 18 to 24 by a margin of 85 percent to 15 percent, while Clinton is winning voters ages 65 and over by a margin of 70 percent to 30 percent. Among racial groups, Sanders carries whites by 9 percentage points, while Clinton takes Latinos by 18 percentage points and blacks by 43 percentage points. All-in-all it makes for a closer race on the Democratic side (in the exit polls at least) than pre-election polls suggested.

Two Dem ships in the night! One towards yesterday's sunset and one onward to tomorrow's new dawn. Se it, Harry, and believe it. There will be two new "Dem" parties after this election: a corporatist neocon party and a democratic-socialist, peace party. And two "GOP" parties: a christianist-racist party and a corporatist globalist party. About time.

I can't help but remember that my ancestors helped start the Republican Party, when that was the new progressive party, then they changed over to Democrats when the Republicans were overtaken by Robber Barons and financial thugs. The party labels and all they used to mean become a blind to conceal the fact that the people are now being served up to the corporate masters.

I vaguely remember in the diary of a Roman mining engineer I was reading as a University student mentioned that he had ask a local chieftain to some slaves to the Roman mine and was that in the local system of government there was an office the Argyle Adar, who's main duty was to watch the chieftain and bring charges against him if he sold out his people to the Romans. If the king were found guilty he would be shot, hung and drowned.
I am not suggesting that we shoot, hang or drown anyone, but that it seems that our ancestors had a greater grasp of the fact that leaders can change, and be coerced or subverted and are not to be trusted unconditionally than we do.
